Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2180: Chapter 2116: It’s Not About the Money

She readily paid a fifty yuan deposit, then asked the proprietress for paper and pen, quickly sketched a portrait, and said to her: ”Aunt Rui, would you mind doing me a favor? Later, all my classmates will be coming over. When they mention my name, please have the servers lead them to the large private room in the backyard. My name is Chiang Xiao.”

She wrote her name on it and then added, ”There are also some guests who are my teachers and elders, please lead them to the small private room.”

Previously, she had heard Jin Lei mention that Fuxi Restaurant had excellent reception, ensuring every guest was escorted to their seats by servers without letting anyone wander around.

”Alright, no problem with that.”

”And this girl,” Chiang Xiao pointed to the portrait, and continued, ”if she arrives, also lead her to the small private room. Don’t let her into the backyard.”

Aunt Rui had just watched her sketch, amazed at how quickly she completed a portrait with swift strokes.

Now, looking at the portrait she thought it was very well-done, so lifelike that one could recognize the person at first glance.

Indeed, she was worthy of being a student at an art institute.

”That’s no problem, I’ll explain this to them properly, nothing will go awry.”

Welcoming and guiding guests is something they have experience with.

Fuxi aims to create a very quiet dining atmosphere, so how could they let guests wander around like headless chickens?

Chiang Xiao made the arrangements and then went to the small private room first.

After waiting for about half an hour, Liu Guoying and the principal arrived first, likely because it was close to the art institute.

”Chiang Xiao, I heard you invited the entire class today?” The principal, seeing Chiang Xiao, somewhat disapprovingly said to her, ”Even if you have money, you shouldn’t spend it like this. Inviting classmates for a meal doesn’t have to be at Fuxi. The dishes here aren’t cheap.”

He purely felt pained for Chiang Xiao wasting money; after all, she was still a freshman, wasn’t she? Such extravagance for hosting guests wasn’t good.

Liu Guoying shook his head and said, ”Principal, you kept grumbling about this the entire way here, didn’t I tell you? This girl hardly lacks such a little money.”

The principal couldn’t help but glare at him.

Not lacking a bit of money, yet when scholarships were mentioned before, you, as a teacher, kept vying for her?

Liu Guoying didn’t quite understand what he was thinking at this moment, but if he did, he would certainly say that it’s different; a scholarship is recognition of Chiang Xiao’s achievements and talent.

So it’s still worth striving for.

”Principal, please have a seat, thank you for honoring us with your presence. Teacher Liu is correct, I do have money to treat, so there’s no need to worry about me.”

”Alright, alright, I’m not worried, but be cautious when ordering. Some of the dishes here are really expensive.”

The principal thought for a moment and felt there was no need to mention it; surely, Chiang Xiao would choose more economical dishes when ordering, right?

After they sat down, Director Jin also arrived.

Chiang Xiao raised an eyebrow.

Director Jin arrived quite quickly too!

As soon as Director Jin saw Chiang Xiao, he burst into laughter, ”Xiao Chiang, I’ve been waiting for you to invite me for ages.”

”That’s my mistake, I should have invited the Director to a meal sooner.”

”No worries, no worries, I won’t hold back today, I’ll eat heartily! Oh, the principal and Master Liu are here too.”

The three of them all knew each other, so they quickly found things to chat about.

And by this time, the other classmates had also arrived one after another.

The students organized the gathering, many of them had planned to come together, so groups of them arrived together one after another.
