Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2178: Chapter 2114: She Will Come

”Let’s go.” She got on without even having to touch him. ”It’s good you came to pick me up, otherwise, even to flag a cab to Fuxi, I’d have to walk a bit, and by the time we get a taxi, it would be pretty close to Fuxi already. I was thinking of just walking there.”

”It’s so cold.”

Jin Lei kicked the pedal, and the bike sped away swiftly.

”But I wanted to talk to you about Ye Wanqing first.” Jin Lei said as he rode.

”What about her?” Chiang Xiao was taken aback.

”Did you forget she’s also in our class? You’re inviting the whole class to a meal today, didn’t you think she might come too?”

”Ye Wanqing would come?” Indeed, Chiang Xiao hadn’t considered that.

She mainly thought, since she’s the host, Ye Wanqing wouldn’t come anyway.

Doesn’t she care about face?

Jin Lei said, ”I knew you hadn’t thought of it. But she really will come.”

”How do you know?”

”Because I ran into her yesterday evening while shopping with my cousin. Guess what she was doing?”

”Hmm?”

”Buying clothes, necklaces, earrings,” Jin Lei said, holding back a laugh. ”My cousin and I secretly followed her for a bit. She tried on no less than twenty outfits!”

At this, Jin Lei found it incredible.

He really did count, more than twenty outfits.

A girl’s jealousy can drive someone this crazy, huh.

”I heard her ask the store clerk, saying she was attending a class reunion at noon and needed help picking an outfit.”

”Maybe it wasn’t about us.”

”Are you silly,” Jin Lei sneered. ”My cousin said it was definitely about us! She said Ye Wanqing surely wants to outshine you by dressing up beautifully, who knows what tricks she might try, so she told me to stick by you the whole time today. If you need any help, just call me.”

So he specifically came to pick her up, also to act as her bodyguard, huh.

Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but smile.

She really hadn’t taken this matter to heart.

”You think just because Ye Wanqing shamelessly shows up, I’d necessarily let her sit down and eat?”

”Otherwise? If you kick her out in front of the whole class, wouldn’t it be a bit inappropriate? What if it makes everyone awkward?”

Chiang Xiao dislikes Ye Wanqing, and since she’s the one paying, she has the right to decide who to invite, but driving Ye Wanqing away in front of everyone might make it look like she’s leading the whole class to isolate Ye Wanqing.

Some classmates, though not particularly close to Ye Wanqing, have soft hearts.

Seeing Ye Wanqing pitiful, they might feel uneasy staying and decide not to eat.

Once a few people leave, today’s invitation by Chiang Xiao might get awkward; the atmosphere would certainly change.

Hearing this from Jin Lei, Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but see him in a new light.

”I didn’t expect you to think so far ahead!”

”Of course, I’m smart.” Jin Lei boasted a bit, ”Actually, my cousin mentioned this to me as well. She was a bit worried you’d be upset today by that shameless Ye Wanqing.”

Chiang Xiao chuckled.

Wang Yi was genuinely concerned for her, which is why she probably asked Jin Lei to pick her up.

”It’s fine, someone like Ye Wanqing can’t easily upset me,” she thought for a moment, then said, ”I remember Fuxi Restaurant has both front and back courtyard private rooms?”

Those are two opposite small buildings shaped like the number two, rumored to have a nice environment.

Jin Lei said, ”Yes, it does.”

Chiang Xiao’s mind turned, and she had an idea.

Since she’s the host, naturally, she’d leave the house early and arrive first.
