Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2137: Chapter 2073: So He Once Saved Him

”What do they do?”

”They are Supervisor Guards. I’ll become a Supervisor Guard too, the best one there is.”

”I believe you can.” He was covered in dirt at the time, from hiding and escaping those people, smudged with ash. Plus, he had thrown on some random clothes from a family’s drying line to cover his white shirt.

It was nighttime, dark all around, and he was sure Meng Xinian hadn’t seen his face clearly.

But Meng Xinian was clean-shaven, dressed in neat clothes, and while running past a tavern, the light allowed him to see Meng Xinian clearly.

That child was adamant about becoming the best Supervisor Guard in the future.

Ah Liu felt confident he’d succeed.

Hearing his certainty, Little Xi was somewhat surprised but smiled happily.

”Thank you, you’re the first to say I can do it. My grandpa, my dad, even our neighbors say I can only grow up to be a troublemaker. They all say I’m hopeless and tell their kids not to play with me, fearing I’d lead them astray.”

Back then, Ah Liu earnestly told him, ”No way! I think you’re smart. You knew exactly where to run to avoid dead ends and left them all behind. You run fast and even managed to pull me along. If you become a Supervisor Guard, you’ll definitely be better than the rest.”

”Haha.”

”If you become a Supervisor Guard, can I come to you for help in the future? By then you’ll be really capable.”

”Of course!” Little Meng Xinian said with great enthusiasm, ”If anything happens, just come find me. I promise you, I’ll do my utmost to help with whatever you need!”

Recalling this, Ah Liu couldn’t help but shake his head and chuckle.

Even though that memory was a bit jumbled, it’s strange how clearly he remembers those conversations with Meng Xinian that night.

It’s funny to think back, they had no idea how they were going to find each other later, and they never even exchanged addresses, but they still made those promises so sincerely.

But before and after those events, his memories remain somewhat scrambled.

Realizing how much he remembers, Ah Liu knows his memory is gradually recovering bit by bit.

Now he wants to know if Chiang Xiao’s mother is really dead.

Chiang Xiao thinks he hasn’t recalled the events of that year, so she was vague in her words. He knows she might not have told him the truth.

”Huh? Little has already been here?”

Ying Qiong’s voice pulled him back from his memories.

”Yes, Sis, you didn’t sleep well last night, did you?”

Jiang Yingqiong had just gotten out of bed and felt a bit embarrassed at his comment.

”Maybe it’s that I’m not used to the bed, so I didn’t sleep well. The hospital smell is okay during the day, but at night while trying to sleep...” She shook her head while folding the quilt.

”Sis, it’s been hard on you.”

”Xiao Sixth, actually...” Ying Qiong hesitated but then took the chance to say, ”If you got married, Little wouldn’t have to work so hard.”

When she brought up the subject again, Ah Liu paused for a moment before telling her, ”Sis, give me a few more days. I’ll write a letter to Lu Shuangshuang myself.”

Ying Qiong exclaimed in surprise, ”Really? You’re really willing to get in touch with Shuangshuang?”
