Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2119: Chapter 2055: Communicated Through Letters Once

The man smiled at her back then and said something, didn’t he?

Oh, right, he said, ”You are indeed an interesting young lady. Alright, I’ll let him know.”

After a while, a letter arrived at the school.

Inside was just a sheet of paper with an address, the word ”thank you,” and an old photograph.

The baby in the photograph was identical to the one in the picture she had, even the clothes were exactly the same.

Chiang Xiao confirmed the person’s identity and sent all the items along with the photo.

At that time, she was still thinking, how lazy and impolite the person must be, only writing an address without even a recipient’s name. Weren’t they afraid someone else might take it?

Moreover, the letter contained no words, just a simple thank you.

However, she couldn’t keep those things forever. Anyway, it was already verified, whether it got to them or not was their issue.

Among those things, she included a sheet of paper with a single sentence, ”A thank you was expected, I have accepted. But you weren’t thoughtful enough, you should have included some stamps, these things cost over a dollar for postage.”

Later on, she completely forgot about the whole thing.

She wasn’t sure how long it had been, but she received another letter.

The letter contained two yuan and just one sentence: thanks again, those things are very important to me, treasures I thought I would never see again.

At that moment, Chiang Xiao thought to herself, if they are treasures, why only give me two yuan?

But that was just a fleeting thought.

Afterward, she was too busy with painting work and part-time jobs, gradually forgetting the matter altogether.

Tonight, upon seeing Nian Tang’s photo, this small piece of memory suddenly flooded back into her mind.

Only then did she remember that the handwriting on those two letters was clearly Meng Xinian’s.

Before this, she had completely forgotten.

At that time, it was just a trivial matter to her.

She didn’t even know the person’s name then, so she didn’t think much of it.

As for the two yuan given by the other party, she naturally spent it quickly.

Fortunately, the photo taken by Nian Tang was exactly from the page she turned, otherwise, she might never have recalled.

After all, that was from a past life, years before her tragic death, and now it’s been a lifetime and several years since then. How could she remember?

Thinking about this memory, recalling the event, Chiang Xiao felt a strange sensation in her heart.

How mysterious, truly incredible.

She always thought there was no connection between her and Meng Xinian in the past life, so why did he later save her?

They should have been strangers in the past life, so why, in her recollection, would his expression be so disbelieving and pained when he arrived to see her die?

As it turned out, they had already crossed paths.

In the past life, she and Meng Xinian had exchanged letters twice.

Though they said nothing significant, thinking of Meng Xinian’s personality before they fell in love, Chiang Xiao knew that for him to write those words at the time, telling her those things were his treasures, was already a rare expression of gratitude and trust for her.
