Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1693: Chapter 1629: Can I Speak Nonsense?

Liu Pei always felt there was nothing to hide from Chiang Xiao, and besides, this matter was originally related to Chiang Xiao.

She immediately said to Chiang Xiao, ”Little, let me tell you, it was about six or seven years ago, right? At that time, our G Family had just gone through chaos, and everything was being rectified?”

Chiang Xiao nodded.

Indeed, at that time, the turmoil had just ended not long ago. In fact, everyone was still on edge, and no one really knew if things would get chaotic again in the future, so everyone was living cautiously, not daring to breathe easily.

So, what happened at that time?

Liu Pei continued, ”At that time, they said they wanted to standardize population information in various towns and villages. So, they sent officers to each township to verify and register population information, of course, whether this was the specific reason or if there was another agenda, I don’t know. Anyway, that year, the household registration information was verified and registered again. Oh, right, and they also asked if anyone in the family had gone overseas.”

Chiang Songhai also nodded when he heard this, ”Yes, yes, yes, I also remember this matter.”

Liu Pei immediately asked him, ”So, brother-in-law, did the people who came to the village ask you any strange questions?”

”What strange questions?” Chiang Songhai was confused.

”Think about it.”

”Grandpa, think carefully again.” Chiang Xiao didn’t remember this matter. Even in her past life, she didn’t remember it. At that time, she often went to Nameless Creek, so if someone came home or asked something, she might not be there, might not know.

Moreover, she was indeed young at that time, about ten years old, so there were some things she definitely didn’t pay attention to.

When Chiang Songhai heard them say this, he then carefully recalled what happened back then.

After thinking for a while, he suddenly realized, ”Oh, I remember, it wasn’t Secretary Yao who came; it was two comrades from the town. They asked how many people were in my family, who they were, and what their relationship to me was. I told them it was just my wife Ah Tao and me, and a granddaughter, no one else.”

Chiang Xiao asked, ”And then?”

”Then they asked me if back then your daughter’s disappearance was registered, right? I said yes.” Chiang Songhai struggled to remember, ”They asked me, so the registration information here is accurate, right? Did you register it yourself at the police station? Once registered, it would be like there’s no such person in your family.”

At that time, Chiang Songhai thought they were talking about registering the disappearance. He didn’t ask very clearly then, thinking that once registered, it would mean there was no such person, as if missing and not returned, so he nodded in agreement.

Chiang Xiao, upon hearing this, held her forehead and said, ”So, at that time, they were probably referring to registering death, right?”

Liu Pei immediately nodded, ”Exactly, probably that. I think, the matter mother talked about back then, should be this situation.”

”Don’t speak carelessly, would mother do such a thing?” Ge Dejun said somewhat sullenly.

Liu Pei snorted, ”How could I be careless about such a thing? Those days your little aunt came to stay with us, you didn’t know, but I remember clearly, because she even fought for food with our Xiao Tong at that time.”

Ge Xiaotong and Xu Linjiang exchanged a glance and didn’t say anything.

There was no space for them to speak on this matter.
