Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1246: Chapter 1247 Different Kind of Date

This must be the way men think.

Only caring about the outcome, not fretting over the process.

When Chiang Xiao heard these things, she had already conjured up an entire drama in her head.

But this was Meng Chaojun and his wife, Duan Qingqing, and Nian Che’s old story, and she indeed had no place to interfere, nor was she interested in doing so.

However, she was a bit curious about Nian Che’s whereabouts.

When she asked Meng Xinian, Meng Xinian shook his head and said, ”I don’t know. The last time I saw him was at my mother’s funeral, and then he never appeared again. Grandpa also looked for him once not long after my mom passed away. The apartment he was renting was vacated too, and no one knows where he went. I’ve always suspected that he went abroad.”

So it seemed that Nian Che had been missing for many years.

No wonder Meng Xinian believed that Duan Qingqing’s decision to marry Meng Chaojun was based merely on intuition.

For a meticulous soldier, highlighting ”intuition” might already seem strange.

After discussing these matters, Meng Xinian had no interest in talking about those people anymore.

The issue of those people made him somewhat disheartened.

”Should we start preparing dinner?” he changed the subject, ”Didn’t you say today that I shouldn’t bring anything and that you were going to prepare a meal of entirely wild game for me?”

Chiang Xiao perked up.

”Yes, you gather firewood, and I’ll go hunting!”

”Huh? Are the roles reversed?” Meng Xinian raised an eyebrow.

Wasn’t it supposed to be him hunting and her gathering firewood?

”No, no, I’ve been up the mountain many times with my uncle, and I have the experience. It’s settled!” After saying that, she patted his shoulder and ran off.

Her previous experiences, cooking outdoors with Ge Dejun and Xu Linjiang in the mountains were fun, and the food tasted great, but now being alone in the mountain with Meng Xinian made her feel even better.

The whole mountain so quiet, just the two of them together, undisturbed.

Wasn’t this so much more interesting than going to the movies or having a candlelit dinner in the city?

So, Chiang Xiao had already decided that she would diligently prepare this dinner.

Meng Xinian watched her run into the woods and couldn’t help but smile. Hadn’t he made it clear to her that they often trained outdoors and he was quite adept at hunting game?

He had thought of catching a rabbit and roasting it for her to eat.

Chiang Xiao was gone for a quite the while.

First, she found a nest of bird eggs on a shelf in Space, which she had found on the mountain previously and never eaten, so she placed them into Space.

Then she took out a painting drawn by Magic Brush and laid it on the ground.

She hadn’t done this ’waiting for a rabbit by guarding a painting’ for a long time.

Although using Spiritual Spring Water to attract animals worked far better, using it directly didn’t guarantee what or how much it would attract.

She hadn’t intended to attract snakes, tigers, or wild boars.

If the commotion was too big and it drew Meng Xinian over, she really couldn’t explain it.

Her painting featured grains of rice and carrots.

While she waited by the painting for the prey to walk into her trap, Meng Xinian found a beautiful pink mountain flower under a tree, and couldn’t resist picking them all and making a flower crown.

He feared damaging it while gathering firewood and thought it over before heading towards the woods where Chiang Xiao was.

Better to put it on her first.
