Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1219: Chapter 1220 I’ll Go Find Her

”I told her to try not to go into the tomb, but that child just wouldn’t listen. Women have Yin, and without the heavy Yang energy of men, they should avoid places like this.”

She didn’t know yet that Chiang Xiao had already taken up the job of copying that mural.

Upon hearing Ge Liutao’s words, Meng Xinian was taken aback.

”Grandma, is there really such a belief?”

Ge Liutao, afraid he would accuse her of promoting feudal superstition, quickly explained, ”The older generations have this belief. Women’s bodies are weaker than men’s, and tombs, being places that see no sunlight all year round with heavy cold and damp air, are not good for them.”

That’s why she had always refused to let Chiang Xiao go to the tomb, but Chiang Xiao had said this belief was unreliable and had not listened to her.

Now, having been gone for so long, she was still worried about her.

”So, Xinian, you should go and call Little back right away. Don’t let her stay there any longer.”

”Alright, I’ll go find her.”

Meng Xinian left without even taking time to drink some water and directly turned around to run towards the ancient tomb.

He didn’t really believe Ge Liutao’s claim.

But now it was getting dark, and the ancient tomb was indeed especially eerie at night, with temperatures dropping as well. Everybody should have evacuated the area by then.

His subordinates wouldn’t stay inside during the night either.

It was time for him to call Xiao Chiang out.

Plus, he was eager to see her.

Upon reaching the outside of the tomb, he saw a man with glasses and his group leaving.

”Are there people still inside?” he asked the guard posted outside.

”Officer Meng, they’ve all come out.”

Everyone had exited, and they were ready to seal the entrance.

”That’s not right. Xiao Chiang is still inside.” Xiao Cai mentioned, looking at Officer Meng, ”Officer Meng, Xiao Chiang is still in there.”

”Thank you.” Officer Meng nodded, ”It’s getting dark; return to the camp quickly. Dinner is almost ready.”

With that, he signaled to the guard and stepped into the tomb swiftly.

Xiao Cai felt a tinge of bitterness in her heart.

The last time he spoke to her, he had been so cold, but just now, when she mentioned that Xiao Chiang was inside, his attitude had noticeably improved.

This man, his mood swings were all tied up with Xiao Chiang.

What was there to hope for?

Xiao Cai silently sighed and followed the team to leave.

Chiang Xiao had initially planned to leave, but just as she was about to, a sudden inspiration struck her about how to conceal the half of the brush.

She needed to use the Magic Brush!

With the Magic Brush, painting would merge perfectly into the entire mural. She wasn’t worried about Liu Guoying catching issues with new and old ink or brush techniques.

Moreover, only the Magic Brush could conceal the radiance of the brush in the painting.

She had already decided what to transform the half brush into.

A rosewood hairpin.

The color was similar to that of the current brush, and the shape was also suitable for alteration.

But with Xiao Cai and the others around, it wasn’t convenient to take out the Magic Brush.

She had to pretend to still be studying the mural, waiting until they left before she could hurriedly start altering the painting.

After all, what she was doing made her feel guilty.

So her heart was constantly in her throat, her palms slightly sweaty.

The Magic Brush’s faint black glow flickered in the dim light.

Chiang Xiao carefully adjusted the painting.

Earlier, she hadn’t been idle either; she had been observing the mural’s style and also had drafted a plan in her mind.
