Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1217: Chapter 1218: Indicating a Treasure

If she needed to draw with the Magic Brush, could Meng Xinian possibly see it?

These were the questions she had been pondering.

In fact, she didn’t even know who the owner of this tomb was.

What if there were some sort of inventory list in the tomb that mentioned that particular brush? With only a description, others might not be able to imagine what the brush looked like, but what if they also saw the brush depicted in this painting?

She would have to be mentally prepared to hide the Magic Brush for life, never using it again.

It might not be impossible.

All of these were just her speculations, mere possibilities.

Yet, there was some likelihood.

Changing the depiction of the brush in the painting seemed to her a more secure solution.

She wanted to erase anything that could potentially expose the Magic Brush.

Chiang Xiao stood in front of the mural, caught in her dilemma, seeking a solution.

Soon, Xiao Cai’s voice came from behind her.

”What are you looking at so intently?”

Chiang Xiao should have heard her approaching, but she was so engrossed in her own thoughts that she hadn’t heard her, so when Xiao Cai’s voice suddenly rang out so close, Chiang Xiao was slightly startled.

But it didn’t show on her face.

She turned around to look at Xiao Cai.

Xiao Cai didn’t seem to expect her to answer and went on to say, ”We’ve made a little progress in our excavation and research. The owner of this ancient tomb should be the host of the Mountain Forest Banquet depicted here.”

”Oh? So, the scene depicted in this mural actually occurred?”

”It should have,” Xiao Cai’s finger lightly traced over the mural. ”Did you see these lines of text?”

Following her finger, Chiang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat.

Only then did she notice that there were a few very ancient lines of text in one corner.

They looked like pictographs.

”These lines mean that in the Mountain Forest Banquet Painting, there is a Hermit in the Deep Mountains who came to present a treasure. At that time, the treasure hadn’t been presented yet, and people were guessing what the treasure would be,” Xiao Cai explained.

Chiang Xiao jerked inside upon hearing this.

She could almost be certain now — that hermit must be the man wearing the broad robe and the veil hat! If they could just find this man, then he was coming to present a treasure, which surely meant the brush he was holding must be the treasure!

With this revelation, sooner or later, the focus of the expert group would be drawn to this brush!

Because many people depicted in the painting had distinct expressions, but the one who looked most like a hermit could only be this man wearing a veil hat!

She suppressed her emotions and asked, ”What are we looking for this treasure for?”

Xiao Cai looked at her and said, ”Don’t you find it strange? Why do tomb robbers keep coming in waves? They know that the army is guarding here, yet they still come and risk their lives, why?”

Yes, why?

She should have known, as some people already knew there was treasure in this ancient tomb.

Knowing that it was guarded by the army but still choosing to take the risk indicated the allure of the treasure, making it worth the risk for them.

”Do you understand now?” Xiao Cai said, ”So we’ve analyzed that in this tomb, there must be the treasure the Hermit in the Deep Mountains intended to present, depicted in this painting. However, we looked for half a day yesterday and still couldn’t find the treasure.”

They had been looking for half a day already?
