Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 846: Chapter 847: Want to comfort me

Because Aunt Guo was the hourly worker who cooked for Old Meng.

Normally at this time, Old Meng would still want a night snack, so Aunt Guo would go and cook him some noodles, while also asking what he would like to eat the next day.

Chiang Xiao hung up the phone and walked over to Meng Xinian.

”Aunt Guo said she just got to the Meng Family and found Grandpa had fainted in the living room!”

Meng Xinian’s face darkened, ”What’s the situation now? Where is everyone at home?”

”Aunt Guo said she called a doctor over to the house, and they’ve already helped Grandpa back to his room. Grandpa has woken up. He fainted due to a sudden surge in blood pressure from getting upset. Your father and... are not at home.”

It was already half-past nine at night, and those two were still not home?

If it weren’t for Aunt Guo, who knows what could have happened to Grandpa?

Meng Xinian clenched his fists tightly, about to slam them down, when they were held by a pair of soft hands.

Chiang Xiao glared at him.

”I knew you were thinking about hurting yourself!”

How foolish!

Her furniture was all solid wood, wouldn’t it hurt his hands to smash them like that?

Chen Yin watched the scene, thinking that finally someone could take charge of Meng Xinian.

Meng Xinian’s jaw was tightly clenched, and his eyes flashed with anger.

An elderly man faints at home, and his son and daughter-in-law are nowhere to be found? And why did Grandpa get so worked up? Who made him that angry!

”I’ll make a call back home, ask my mom to go check on Grandpa Meng,” Chen Yin immediately stood up.

Meng Xinian’s gaze flickered slightly.

He knew that because of the discord sown by that woman, Meng Chaojun now looked down on the Chen Family, looked down on Chen Yin, and had always disliked Chen Yin’s way of doing business; he didn’t like him mingling with Chen Yin either.

If Mother Chen went to the Meng Family, it definitely wouldn’t be pleasant.

But now he had no other choice, Aunt Guo was after all just an hourly worker, and having someone trustworthy check in would allow him to feel a bit more at ease.

”Thanks, brother. And thank you to your aunt,” he said with a heavy voice.

”Cut the crap,” Chen Yin patted his shoulder and went to make the call.

Madam Chen took the call and relayed to Meng Xinian not to worry; she would immediately head to the Meng Family and call him back with specific details after she arrived.

During the wait, Meng Xinian stayed silent.

Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao worried constantly after learning about Old Meng’s situation.

Chiang Xiao fed Snow Ball some food, handed it over to Ge Liutao, then went over to Meng Xinian, crouching in front of him and looking up at him.

Meng Xinian met her gaze.

”I’ll take the earliest train to the Capital City tomorrow. With me there, you don’t have to worry about Grandpa’s health, right?”

Meng Xinian chuckled quietly and pinched her cheek, ”Chiang Xiaoxiao, are you trying to comfort me by revealing a secret in advance?”

Her going there implied there was no need to worry about Grandpa’s health. What did that mean?

Was she hinting at something to him?

Or perhaps they both implicitly understood; she knew he was suspicious, and he knew that she realized she couldn’t hide it from him.

But he had promised to give her a few years until they could truly be together before coming clean, so he wouldn’t push her to confess now.

Chiang Xiao suddenly had a face of exasperation.

”Who wants to comfort you? I’m worried about Grandpa!” She knew she shouldn’t have spoken to him.

She knew this guy was too mean.

”Let’s wait for Aunt Chen’s reply. If it really requires your visit, Xiaoxiao, I won’t be polite,” Meng Xinian stroked her hair gently.

”All for Snow Ball’s sake!” Chiang Xiao said.

Meng Xinian smiled, ”Hmm, after all, I am its brother-in-law.”
