Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 821: Chapter 822: So Worried About Her

In the room, the broth in the pot was bubbling away.

The rich fragrance filled the air.

Even though everyone was forcing a smile because of what had happened to Meng Xinian, they couldn’t help but swallow their saliva secretly at the smell.

Chen Yin couldn’t help but say, ”I’ve had hot pot many times, tried both Northern and Southern styles, but this is the first time I’ve ever smelled such a fragrant clear broth.”

Yes, it was a clear broth.

It’s rare for even a clear broth to smell this good.

What’s more, he couldn’t even tell what made it so aromatic.

Some hot pot broths have strong fragrances from Sichuan peppercorns, chili peppers, and a variety of spices.

”My grandparents can’t handle spicy food, so we’re using a clear broth pot—do you mind?” Chiang Xiao asked.

”Not at all, I’m actually not very good with spicy food either. Xinian really liked spicy food, he even used chili peppers to prank a lot of people before. He would take a bite, keep a straight face, and then slam his spoon down, saying, ’How can anyone eat something this sweet?’ Then a bunch of us who can’t handle spicy food believed him and took a big mouthful, and ended up with tears and snot from the spiciness.”

”Hahaha.” Chu Liang laughed out loud.

Chiang Songhai smiled and said, ”There’re only a few days until New Year’s. Did Xinian use to come home for the holidays?”

Last winter break he left to join a special training, and if he can’t come back this year, wouldn’t that mean he hasn’t been home for the New Year for two years?

Both Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao felt especially sorry for him.

Chen Yin glanced at Chiang Xiao and said, ”If you count this year, it’s been five years that Meng Xi has spent the Spring Festival in the Alliance District. He didn’t even return to Capital City during New Year’s.”

But he originally intended to bring her gift first to Capital City, he couldn’t help wondering, had Meng Xinian planned to take Chiang Xiao and the others to Capital City for the Spring Festival this year?

”So, what do we do now? How are we supposed to find him? Let’s hurry up and find him first.”

Ge Liutao’s eyes started to redden.

”Eat, let’s eat hot pot first,” Chiang Xiao seemed to want to put off talking about the matter for the time being—nobody knew her mind was in such chaos she simply couldn’t discuss it.

Chen Yin looked at her again, and Chu Liang silently served them a bowl of meat without a word.

”The broth and meat were both prepared by Chiang Xiao, they look really delicious.”

After trying a piece of meat, Chen Yin almost forgot about Meng Xinian altogether.

What kind of meat was this? Just one dip in the clear broth and it was this delicious?

The hot pot broth that Chiang Xiao had used contained a small spoonful of Spiritual Spring Water, which is why it had an extraordinarily fragrant aroma, and using this broth for the meat not only preserved the texture of the slices but also maximized their umami.

And naturally, the meat slices she served weren’t just ordinary pork but wild game preserved in the Space.

In short, the quality of this hot pot was unbeatable and, of course, the taste was just as invincible.

”Did Brother Xinian come back on his own? Didn’t anyone come to pick him up?” After eating a few slices of meat and drinking half a bowl of soup, Chiang Xiao finally felt warmth seep through her body.

And her mind started to function again.

”There were people supposed to pick him up since he was returning from the frontier, but after entering the country, he quickly sent a message saying that the Alliance District needn’t pick him up—there was a situation, and then he disappeared without a trace.”

”When did he call you to bring things over?” Chiang Xiao’s heart clenched.

Tyrant Meng, the fool.

With something so serious going on, and he still remembered to bring her gift?

”He probably thought he could resolve it quickly at first, which is why he called me. He only said that one sentence,” Chen Yin now recalled feeling a bit embarrassed.
