Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 793: Chapter 794: Of Course, It Remained

Old Master Bai’s condition before was known to them; his Alzheimer’s disease had become quite severe. Anyway, he often couldn’t even recognize his own sons and grandsons, so someone had to be with him twenty-four hours a day.

The Old Master had loved his wife deeply throughout his life.

And Old Lady Bai was skilled at painting landscapes.

However, after falling ill, she wanted to paint but could no longer pick up a brush. Many of her paintings from those turbulent years didn’t survive either.

After Old Lady Bai passed away, Old Master Bai became obsessed with appreciating paintings. Even when he became somewhat confused, he never forgot to look at paintings.

In every corner of the Bai Family Old Residence hung landscape paintings gifted by others; however, many were taken down shortly after being hung when Old Master Bai looked at them, shook his head, and made the dismissing gesture of an art connoisseur.

Some were returned to those who gave them, others were simply put away and forgotten.

The painting from the Yu Family had just been hung up the day before yesterday.

It wasn’t until yesterday afternoon that Old Master Bai shakily made his way to that corner and saw the painting.

”Old Master Bai is feeling better?” Yu Hang nearly leapt up in surprise.

”Yes, he said he stood in front of that painting for a full two hours!” Yu Zhensheng still felt somewhat unsettled recalling the shock from last night when he received Old Master Bai’s call. However, he could understand what Old Master Bai was talking about, because on the day they unfolded the painting, they too had looked at it for a long time, almost reluctant to put it away.

That feeling of being refreshed in spirit, as if they had really gone out into the fields and hills, made them feel as if their minds and bodies had been cleansed.

They believed Old Master Bai must have felt this wonderful sensation as well.

”I said Master Chiang was amazing!” Xi Minghui slapped his thigh vigorously, his face flushed with excitement.

If Chiang Xiao were here, he would want to give her a hug.

Yu Hang glanced at him, ”Come on, wasn’t it you who kept saying ’Chiang Bluff Master’ this and ’Chiang Bluff Master’ that?”

”Didn’t I change my tune later?” Xi Minghui said, slightly embarrassed.

Hearing their conversation, Yu Zhensheng suddenly had an idea, ”This Master Chiang, is she the painter who created this passionate landscape painting?”

”Yes, that’s her.” Yu Hang asked, ”Dad, did Old Master Bai say anything else?”

”He did, else why would I have come over? You guys come home with me this weekend for a meal.”

Yu Hang and Xi Minghui immediately understood what this ’meal’ meant.

Old Master Bai was willing to intervene and mediate; they could sit down with the other party and have a proper talk.

If nothing unexpected happened, this matter should be resolved.

Yu Hang and Xi Minghui exchanged a look and were simultaneously unsure of how to feel. In truth, they did interfere too much in this matter, but who could have known that it would lead to such developments?

Because of this incident, although they didn’t outwardly show any change, internally, they both developed a bit of a psychological shadow about women.

Thankfully, Chiang Xiao appeared and now they felt that girls could be quite adorable again.

”Also, when we visit this time, I would like to meet this painter,” Yu Zhensheng said, ”Old Master Bai would like to meet her as well.”

”Uncle, did Old Master Bai accept that painting? He didn’t return it?” Xi Minghui asked.

Yu Zhensheng gave him a puzzled look, ”Why would Old Master Bai return it if he liked the painting? Of course, he kept it.”
