Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 760: Chapter 761 Beyond the Mission

”Bang!”

A gunshot rang out under the dim moonlight, and a figure ahead fell to the ground with a ”thump.”

However, right after that, countless footsteps started coming from the abandoned mountain village up ahead.

Meng Xinian’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately had a bad feeling!

He grabbed the collar of someone next to him and said in a deep voice, ”Didn’t you say this village has long been deserted?”

The person’s voice trembled slightly, ”That’s what was said initially! This village has indeed been abandoned for a long time, unless someone has taken over this place and made it their den!”

This was an area surrounded by desolate mountains for dozens of miles, infested with venomous insects, and with no carved out roads. What kind of people would make this their den? Are they out of their minds?

Unless...

They had somehow taken the wrong turn during a storm and inadvertently infiltrated a stronghold of the enemy!

In a territory where even cities are as chaotic as battlefields, one could only imagine what sort of people occupied such a mountain lair.

Those people were all inhuman monsters!

Women, children, the elderly— to them, they were nothing but playthings to toy with or kill at will.

They bred evil here, and then forced the women and children they controlled to spread that evil into the towns!

If the intelligence had not been wrong, they should not have shot the criminal just now, but instead should have figured out a way to silently deal with him!

”Meng, what do we do now?”

The people inside must think that it was official forces coming to suppress them.

But this had nothing to do with their mission at all.

”Retreat, get out as fast as you can!” Meng Xinian made a decisive call. But at this moment, the team leader, who had previously failed to lead the team effectively, a man from the G Family, immediately stood out.

”We can’t retreat! Don’t forget, besides catching the criminals of the Wild Wolf Gang who happen to be fleeing along this route, our special training mission also includes clearing all obstacles along the designated route to create a special passage for our Aristocratic Family Alliance Zone!”

This special passage was needed for some of their strategic operations, and the support requested this time came from this specially trained team backed by a friendly nation.

So, this was both a part of their special training and their mission.

If he could take down a den in passing, once he got back to the Alliance District, he would be credited with a meritorious deed!

Meng Xinian said angrily, ”This was not in our plan! We don’t have many bullets left, and no one knows what the situation in this den is like!”

”Meng,” the man said with scorn, ”If you’re scared of this and that, you might as well drop out of the special training. Even with few bullets, we’re not afraid. We can win against them with this,” he said, pointing to his head.

Meng Xinian’s face was filled with stern anger.

This was beyond the scope of the mission.

And it was far too dangerous.

He wasn’t afraid of danger, but when calculating the chances of success, he believed that safer methods could be used. True, he wasn’t the type of blindly passionate radical who would rush headlong at the sight of crime or a den.

Pointless sacrifice was never his advocacy.

Moreover, he valued his life more now than ever before.

His G Family was merely adjacent to this area. In fact, they did not even need to take a plane here. They traveled from the domestic airport to the border, crossed the checkpoint between the two countries on foot, and then were picked up in Jeeps by people from the other country’s border.

At times like this, Meng Xinian always thought of his fiancée.

He hadn’t even seen her grow up yet, how could he afford to have an accident?
