Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 428: Chapter 428: Falling Ill

”Aunt Shi, we’ve arrived at the station; please wake up,” Chiang Xiao called out.

But there was still no response from Aunt Shi.

Chiang Xiao immediately felt something was wrong.

They were on a train, and she was with a child. Logically, she would have been alert and cautious, so she shouldn’t have been sleeping so soundly.

Hu Xibing also felt something was amiss, ”Sister-in-law, go check on her.”

Chiang Xiao walked over, reached out, and patted Aunt Shi, ”Aunt Shi, wake up. It’s time to get off.”

”Sister, I feel dizzy,” Little Tiger did wake up, but his voice was very weak.

Chiang Xiao looked at him and was instantly shocked.

Little Tiger’s face was flushed, and his eyes lacked the brightness they had the night before. She reached out to touch his forehead, ”So hot! Brother Hu, Little Tiger has a fever!”

Hu Xibing grew anxious, ”What should we do? We need to get him to the hospital quickly. Do you know them?”

”We chatted last night; as it turns out, Little Tiger’s dad and Tyrant Meng were in the same battalion! This is his grandma, Aunt Shi.”

”Ah? From the same area? I was discharged from there too. What’s the name of Little Tiger’s dad? Maybe I know him!” Hu Xibing was shocked. When he had come back last night, Aunt Shi and Little Tiger were already asleep, and he hadn’t heard their chat with Chiang Xiao.

”His dad is named Lei Jiasheng; he’s from the county town,” Chiang Xiao said.

”Big Master!” Hu Xibing was even more astonished, ”Are these Lei Jiasheng’s own mother and son?”

”Brother Hu, you know them?”

”Know them? How could I not? Lei Jiasheng was promoted to deputy squad leader just before I was about to retire!” Now that he realized they were people he knew, Hu Xibing grew even more worried, ”Hurry up, Aunt Shi, Aunt Shi!”

He couldn’t help but began calling out to Aunt Shi as well.

Aunt Shi’s eyes opened with difficulty and then closed again.

Chiang Xiao felt her forehead, ”Aunt Shi’s fever is even worse!”

What was going on with both the grandmother and the grandson running such high fevers?

They were perfectly fine last night!

”Sister-in-law, I’ll carry Aunt Shi, and you carry Little Tiger. Can you manage?”

”Sure, sure, no problem, let’s get them to the hospital first.” Chiang Xiao slung her backpack around to her chest and quickly picked up Little Tiger onto her back.

Fortunately, she was no longer the frail girl she used to be. She had grown taller and her physical strength was much better than the average person’s. Carrying a four- or five-year-old child was no problem for her at all.

She could even carry Aunt Shi.

Seeing that she indeed wasn’t struggling, Hu Xibing let his worries fade and hurriedly picked up Aunt Shi, holding her with one arm and carrying all the big and small bags with the other.

Chiang Xiao, looking at him like that, regretted holding too many things in her hands; she should have put more into the Space.

But how could she have foreseen such an event?

Once they got off the train, the hustle and bustle of the provincial city hit them all at once.

Although the provincial city of the eighties had not yet developed much, compared to a place like Peace Town Siyang Village, it was already busy enough to dazzle one’s eyes.

”Sister-in-law, stick close to me. Let’s call a car to the hospital; I don’t even know which bus we should take.”

Chiang Xiao paused, ”Call a car?”

What she wondered was whether there were taxis available at this time already.

But Hu Xibing thought she didn’t understand the concept of calling a car, and as he led her towards the exit, he explained, ”This is a new thing in the provincial city. I heard it started at the beginning of the year. Some people started a taxi company, dispatched a lot of cars to pick up passengers on the streets, and you just have to wave to get one to stop. When you reach your destination, you just pay and that’s it. The fare is a bit expensive, but it’s convenient and saves trouble!”
