Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 415: Chapter 415: Should We Ask for Permission First?

”No, that won’t do, at least not for the first time going there. Someone should accompany you,” Ge Dejun shook his head and said, ”I think, you should let your uncle take you. Your uncle has been to the provincial capital before, he’s somewhat familiar with it, and we’re not quite daring to go yet.”

”Right, I’ll go with you.” Xu Linjiang even winked at her, indicating that he was on her side most of the time. He would absolutely not fuss over everything she did or sermonize.

Chiang Xiao sighed.

”How can that work? A trip to the provincial capital will take at least three days. Just the travel back and forth will consume two days, and my aunt is pregnant now, how can my uncle go on a long journey? He must stay by my aunt’s side!” Chiang Xiao knew after Ge Xiaotong got pregnant she had become somewhat delicate, and she would certainly feel reluctant about Xu Linjiang leaving for so many days.

Suddenly, Chiang Xiao had an idea and immediately said, ”Last time Brother Hu went to the provincial capital, I’ll ask him if he’s planning to go again. If he is, then I can just accompany him. Once in the provincial capital, I’ll find Meng Xinian. With Meng Xinian taking me to the bookstore, you all can rest assured, right?”

Meng Xinian would always ask about them in every letter he wrote, making them feel like this young man was really thoughtful.

Perhaps in this era, soldiers are seen as a kind of sacred presence, and since they’ve met him and got to know him, they had this particular blind trust in Meng Xinian, to the point that even if Chiang Xiao complained about him a bit, they would chastise her.

When Chiang Xiao said she was going to find Meng Xinian, they felt assured.

”If Xiao Hu is really going to the provincial capital, it’s okay for you to go with him,” Chiang Songhai hesitated for a moment and said, ”But, he’s just been there recently; does he really need to go to the provincial capital again?”

”I’ll go ask him and find out.”

Chiang Xiao’s original intention was to conspire with Hu Xibing to have him tell a lie, claiming that a friend of his would take her along.

But, to her surprise, when she went to see Hu Xibing and mentioned it, Hu Xibing paused for a moment and then said, ”What a coincidence? I’m indeed going to the provincial capital in three days.”

”Ah? Brother Hu, are you really going?”

”Yes, remember the Tea Trade Fair I attended last time? I learned quite a lot, and I met a tea merchant there. He has his own tea garden, and we agreed that I would go and take a look this time.” Hu Xibing had some interest in tea, and now that he was in business for the first time, he planned on going to learn more.

”A tea garden?” Chiang Xiao thought that the scenery of a tea garden must be nice, and her heart was immediately enticed, ”Brother Hu, would it be convenient for you to take me along?”

After all, summer vacation had just started, and she had finished dealing with the matter of advancing a grade early; she had no responsibilities at the moment. If she didn’t take this opportunity to broaden her horizons, it would indeed be a waste of time.

”Convenient, why wouldn’t it be? He didn’t invite only me. He invited quite a number of people to visit his tea garden, and he has a resort there as well. The scenery and the air are both great, and it’s not far from the provincial capital.” When the sister-in-law commands, who would dare to refuse?

But, what if Captain Meng wasn’t pleased with this?

Hu Xibing hesitated for a moment, wondering whether he should ask for permission first.

”Then take me with you, Brother Hu. I won’t be any trouble; I just want to broaden my experience.”

”What trouble? Even if you really were to trouble me, it’s nothing to fear.” What’s there to fear? Captain Meng is in the provincial capital after all. If anything truly happens, just go straight to him.
