Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Awe the Masses

”Teacher Xiao Yu, Teacher Yu?” Principal Chu asked twice in a row, but Yu Chunyu hadn’t come back to her senses yet.

It wasn’t until Zou Xiaoling sitting beside her nudged her gently that she woke up, as if from a dream, and looked toward Principal Chu.

”Principal?”

”I’m asking you, how well did Chiang Xiao’s first-year test go!”

”Using the same method, we corrected the papers of the student who usually ranks first in our general exams. Chiang Xiao scored six points higher.” After Yu Chunyu finished speaking, she pursed her lips and said, ”Principal, it’s normal for people to find Chiang Xiao’s performance unbelievable. Could she have cheated?”

Before Principal Chu could speak, the male teacher who had proctored Chiang Xiao’s second-year exam jumped up, ”Teacher Xiao Yu, what do you mean by that? I watched Chiang Xiao the whole time, and I did not see any cheating on her part!”

Yu Chunyu quickly said, ”Teacher Luo, that’s not what I mean. In the examination room, it’s naturally impossible for Chiang Xiao to cheat. Even if she could, a sixth-grader wouldn’t know what content is to be tested in middle school.”

”So what are you trying to say, Teacher Yu?” Principal Chu asked calmly.

Yu Chunyu felt that she was not deliberately picking on Chiang Xiao, but she considered it a highly improbable event. She could not believe it; therefore, raising doubt seemed only reasonable, right?

”I think the most likely explanation is that Chiang Xiao knew the test content beforehand and then had someone teach her the answers to the questions.”

Indeed, no matter what, Chiang Xiao must have cheated.

Otherwise, how could it be possible? It just couldn’t be.

She absolutely refused to believe that a girl from a poor mountain village could score so well on the tests for the first and second year of middle school!

”Ridiculous! The test papers were locked in the director’s cabinet before the exam. Tell me, who could have gotten to the papers?” Teacher Luo huffed.

It wasn’t that he was specifically taking Chiang Xiao’s side, but he trusted what his eyes had seen.

Chiang Xiao took the tests with him as the proctor. He kept an eye on Chiang Xiao the whole time. Her approach to answering questions was very smooth, and furthermore, he had stood by her side, watching her solve problems, looking at her drafts, with a clear thought process. There were mistakes, but she quickly realized them and corrected them right away.

Yu Chunyu didn’t know how to explain, but the situation just didn’t add up; naturally, she could not believe it.

”Otherwise, Teacher Luo, do enlighten us. Can someone really be such a prodigy?” Yu Chunyu asked defiantly.

”Why not? Can’t someone become talented by self-study? I only attended school for a few years myself and learned the rest on my own!” Teacher Luo was just as defiant.

In their era, it wasn’t easy to attend school. He only completed one year of middle school before having to drop out due to poor family conditions. Later, he self-studied and went on to high school.

”Moreover, as far as I know, Principal Chu also self-studied through half of high school and managed to enroll in university with excellent grades.”

Principal Chu shook his head, ”There is no possibility of a test paper leakage. In fact, verifying if Chiang Xiao’s knowledge is genuine is quite simple. We just call her in, randomly select two subjects for her, then pick out a question and have her solve it in front of us. If she can do it, that would be sufficient to confirm there is no issue with her exam results. Surely, someone hasn’t leaked the very questions we’d select on the spot?”

”This is a good idea; I agree,” Teacher Luo immediately nodded in approval.

Since there were doubts about Chiang Xiao’s exam performance, this would settle it convincingly.
