Supreme Warrior in the City

Su Yang couldn’t help but be surprised: ”A Spiritual Source can be born inside the trunk? How is this possible? Isn’t there supposed to be no Spiritual Energy or Spiritual Source in the Land of Chaos?”

”I don’t know!” Lin Ke shrugged: ”I only heard about this after being here for over three thousand years. They say these Spiritual Sources are born from within the trunk, but how they appear is very strange, almost as if they suddenly pop up. Moreover, their locations are not fixed; no one knows where these Spiritual Sources will appear and how many will emerge each time. They’re impossible to track!”

”Still, though the number of Spiritual Sources is considerable, it’s far too few compared to the number of Saint Emperors here. It is certainly not enough for all. Therefore, the Saint Emperors within the trunk must not only seize Spiritual Sources from outside Saint Emperors but also compete for any that appear within the trunk itself. This is an extremely crucial affair. In such struggles, it’s inevitable that some factions will form. Over the years, with so many strong figures, numerous alliances have naturally led to the various factions and territories I mentioned to you before!”

”Different territories are generally hostile towards one another. Since Spiritual Sources are limited, and their emergence places and times are unpredictable, if a Spiritual Source suddenly appears within a territory, nearby factions will rush in to seize it. Thus, whenever a Spiritual Source appears, large-scale chaos and battles ensue within the trunk, resulting in countless dead Saint Emperors!”

Su Yang frowned; he found this situation quite peculiar. The appearance of these Spiritual Sources seemed too mysterious. Are they really born from the Land of Chaos?

”Though there are many divided territories within the trunk, in reality, there are only two true divisions!” Lin Ke looked at Su Yang and said, ”One is the territory of the Demon Beast Clan, the other is the territory of the Human Clan.”

Su Yang nodded slowly. That was understandable, given that life here only consisted of these two races.

”Our current situation is somewhat complex. If we enter and fall within the Demon Beast Clan territory, you will be safe, but it will be different for us.” Lin Ke said: ”And if we end up in the Human Clan territory, then we will be safe while you will face a different scenario.”

Lin Yuan added beside them: ”Of course, whether there will be trouble or not depends on the situation. If we carry a significant amount of Spiritual Sources, then even within our own race’s territory, we might be robbed. At the same time, if a Spiritual Source appears in the trunk, no matter where, people will treat it as an enemy. Basically, it boils down to this: whether or not there will be trouble primarily depends on the Spiritual Sources on you!”

Su Yang was stunned for a moment. After thinking for a while, he said, ”What about the Guardian God entering?”

”The Guardian God is different!” Lin Yuan said: ”People within the trunk won’t attack the Guardian God!”

”Why?” Su Yang was surprised: ”Aren’t these people supposed to be blocking the Guardian God? Why don’t they act inside the trunk?”

Lin Ke explained: ”People in these branches haven’t entered the trunk. Honestly, most of them are just wandering Saint Emperors, without the qualifications to enter the trunk, lacking identity and status, and are nearly waiting outside to die. To them, having a Spiritual Source to extend their life, living one more day, is all that matters; nothing else is important. They have nothing to lose, so naturally, they fear nothing. Let alone the Guardian God passing by, even someone who could crush them would be harassed.”

”But, inside the trunk, those factions are different. They have their own territories, their own grounds, their own reserves; those Spiritual Sources aren’t enough for everyone but enough to last them for a long time. Under such circumstances, if they provoke the Guardian God, what would be the outcome? These people and Demon Beasts came here while being chased by the Guardian God. They’ve finally found a chance for survival—if they provoke the Guardian God further and attract its army here, wouldn’t what they have now be destroyed? Therefore, these people are very wary of the Guardian God and definitely won’t provoke it.”

”Is that even possible!?” Su Yang frowned: ”These people have irreconcilable hatred towards the Guardian God. Don’t they think of revenge?”

”Perhaps at first, those who entered did want revenge. However, as they lived here longer, much of their beliefs have been worn away.” Lin Ke shook his head: ”The Guardian God is too powerful; if it were to invade, it could wipe out all the Saint Emperors in the trunk. Knowing they aren’t a match, who would give up their current chance of survival to gamble? It’s not that they’re unwilling to avenge, but they can’t. Killing a few Guardian Gods might provide temporary satisfaction, but when the Guardian God’s army invades, how many people in here would survive?”

Su Yang sighed; though he felt discontent deep down, he had to admit Lin Ke was right. These people have managed to establish themselves here—how many would dare to provoke and go against the Guardian God?

”However, I reckon the Guardian God will eventually invade!” The Great City Lord spoke solemnly: ”They won’t leave so many Saint Emperors from the Human Clan and Demon Beast Clan in here; these are always hidden dangers that they will eventually need to eliminate!”

”Though that’s true; everyone knows the situation. Yet, who can change anything?” Lin Ke shrugged: ”Cowering here can extend life a bit longer. Rushing out would shorten it. Even Saint Emperors cherish their lives!”

Su Yang watched Lin Ke; he had to admit Lin Ke could see things quite clearly. After all, being here for over three thousand years—his beliefs have nearly been worn away.

”In the end, the Three Thousand Great Worlds will likely become the Guardian God’s realm!” Lin Yuan sighed: ”Then, newly born life will become the slaves of the Guardian God. The Guardian God will gain complete control over all Great Worlds; humans and Demon Beast Clan will have no chance of rising again!”

Su Yang clenched his fists. He always thought that protecting the Nine Realms meant completing his mission. Now, he realized things weren’t as simple as he had imagined!
