Supreme Warrior in the City

”Over the past decades, I’ve stolen the Yingming Saint Emperor’s treasure house and have been hiding in Guardian Land,” Su Yang said smugly. ”Tell me, how could the Demon Beast Clan possibly find me?”

The three nodded simultaneously, unable to fathom that he would hide in Guardian Land.

”Then why did you come out this time?” the leading Saint Emperor asked in surprise.

”I didn’t want to come out either!” Su Yang said helplessly. ”But the problem is that the Heavenly War Alliance is utterly useless. The Guardian God wanted them to divert the Demon Beast Clan’s attention, but they were defeated by the Demon Beast Clan in no time, failing to achieve the Guardian God’s intended outcome. Thus, the Guardian God had no choice but to let me come out again, stir things up further, and incite a full-scale confrontation between the Heavenly War Alliance and Demon Beast Clan, aiming to sacrifice the entire Heavenly War Alliance to deplete the Demon Beast Clan’s strength as much as possible! Frankly speaking, all members of the Heavenly War Alliance in this area must die this time!”

The three Saint Emperors exchanged glances, panic filling their hearts. Fortunately, Su Yang had told them in advance. Otherwise, they would be included in the sacrifice, wouldn’t they?

”Brother Xuanming, is this... is this true?” the leading Saint Emperor asked in a trembling voice, ”Brother Xuanming, for the sake of our brotherhood, help us!”

The other two Saint Emperors looked at Su Yang with faces full of consternation, their eyes pleading for help.

Su Yang smiled and walked towards them. ”Three fellow Daoists, talking about brotherhood sounds a bit hypocritical, doesn’t it? Our relationship isn’t quite at that point, right?”

The three’s expressions changed. Was Su Yang not intending to help them?

”Don’t worry, I came to find you to save you,” Su Yang said calmly. ”Honestly, I have no friends in the Heavenly War Alliance. If I were to act according to my own nature, I wouldn’t help anyone. But the Guardian God’s tasks aren’t something I can accomplish alone; I need help. And the willing assistants, the Guardian God has promised, can enter Guardian Land with me and receive the protection of the Guardian God.”

Su Yang looked at the three with a hint of disdain and said, ”The reason I found you three isn’t because we’re good friends, but because you’re too weak!”

The three looked embarrassed; defending oneself against such blunt criticism wasn’t easy.

”You three used to hold similar marginal positions in the Heavenly War Alliance as I did. Now that the Heavenly War Alliance has fallen apart, you three want to seize the chance to negotiate with others? Honestly, does your strength significantly impact the overall situation? Do you know why you’ve been huddling here for so long? It’s because the others don’t take you seriously!”

The leading Saint Emperor felt humiliated and spoke gravely, ”Brother Xuanming, if you’re only here to insult us, there’s no need to continue talking. Though we lack strength, we still have some backbone!”

”Having backbone is good, but what good will it do?” Su Yang retorted coldly. ”Do you seriously think you’ll make an enemy of me?”

Suddenly, a presence was felt from afar.

The three Saint Emperors initially considered capturing Su Yang to report to the Alliance Hierarch or the Great Saint Emperor of the Demon Beast Clan. After all, Su Yang’s words were extremely insulting.

However, sensing this presence changed their expressions instantly; it was the aura of the Guardian God, indicating that there was a Guardian God keeping watch nearby.

At once, the three became obedient.

Previously, they assumed Su Yang was alone and didn’t much care. Now they found out there’s a Guardian God accompanying him. Meaning, if they acted against Su Yang, their deaths would be certain, as the Guardian God certainly wouldn’t spare them.

Therefore, the three now dismissed any other thoughts, standing obediently and letting Su Yang ridicule them.

In fact, these three were unaware that the distant presence of the Guardian God was actually the aura of the Red Leaf God. Su Yang had the Great City Lord stand in the distance and simulate the aura of the Red Leaf God, releasing it at crucial moments to intimidate them and also to validate his words.

To deceive these three, he had to employ the Guardian God’s banner. Otherwise, his words alone would never gain complete trust.

Su Yang mocked them for a while, feeling it was enough, then coldly said, ”Alright, I’m done with pointless talks. I came to find you for the main reason that you have no choice. You must assist me in my tasks. If you’re willing to follow me and work alongside me, I can guarantee that the benefits you’ll gain in Guardian Land will be a thousandfold more than in the Heavenly War Alliance!”

The three’s eyes immediately lit up; benefits are ultimately the key, after all.

”Brother Xuanming, whatever orders you have, just say the word. We three will be at your service, through fire and water!” the leading Saint Emperor promptly stated.

The other two Saint Emperors also nodded eagerly, looking at Su Yang with excitement.

If previously they held any doubts about Su Yang’s speech, those were completely dispelled as they sensed the aura of the Red Leaf God.

Staying with the Heavenly War Alliance or choosing to side with the Guardian God; is this choice even a question? They’d certainly choose the Guardian God!

These individuals, having joined the Heavenly War Alliance, didn’t have the intention of fighting for the Human Clan; everything they did was only for themselves.

Moreover, following someone as powerful as the Guardian God must surely be the most correct choice.

”Excellent!” Su Yang acknowledged, nodding contentedly, and said loudly, ”Congratulations on making the right choice. Next, you’ll work alongside me on some tasks. Remember, you must ensure the task is carried out flawlessly. If the Guardian God is pleased, we’ll all receive rewards. If someone fails and ruins the tasks of the Guardian God, I don’t need to mention what the consequence will be, do I?”

All three nodded incessantly; who would dare disrupt the Guardian God’s tasks?

”Master Xuanming, what... what should we do now?” the leading Saint Emperor cautiously asked, even changing the term of address.

Su Yang seemed very pleased with this form of address, nodded to him, and softly said, ”Now, all three of you should suppress your aura a bit, and come with me to accomplish something important!”
