Supreme Warrior in the City

”Nodes are the branching points within the channels of this Land of Chaos,” Lin Ke said.

”Branching points? We’ve passed so many crossroads, aren’t they all nodes? What’s good about that?” the Second City Lord couldn’t help but ask.

”It’s different!” Lin Ke shook his head, ”Didn’t I tell you before? The channels in the Land of Chaos were originally the positions of the World Tree’s branches. Those crossroads are where the World Tree branches out. However, the crossroads you’ve been through can’t be considered nodes. Nodes refer to the connection points between the branches and the main trunk of the World Tree. So, passing through these nodes can lead us to the main trunk of the World Tree!”

”The main trunk of the World Tree!?” Su Yang’s eyes widened in shock, ”Can we reach the main trunk of the World Tree so soon?”

Su Yang calculated their position mentally, realizing they had only been in here for a little over three months.

Three months might seem long, but in fact, concerning the Land of Chaos, it’s as if they’ve barely moved at all.

The Land of Chaos encompasses over three thousand Great Worlds. Su Yang is quite aware of how vast a Great World is. Even though they now possess the Saint Emperor’s Power, crossing a Great World could still take thousands of years.

And now, after only three months in this Land of Chaos, have they closed in on the main trunk of the World Tree? How is this possible?

”The situation in here is different from what you know,” Lin Ke shook his head, ”The channels left by the World Tree aren’t as simple as what you see at first glance. They are filled with spatial overlap, spatial fusion, and spatial distortion. Each crossroads is not a difference in distance but a difference in space. Meaning, if there are two crossroads, taking one step at the left crossroads and one step at the right crossroads could be a distance equivalent to a Great World. So this is the main reason why this channel is so hard to traverse; an inch away, you might never get back, and that is the most terrifying thing!”

”It could be like that!?” Su Yang gasped. He had never imagined such things.

”The World Tree is originally quite extraordinary!” Lin Ke said, ”Think about it, Chaos, the World, and the World Tree—these can coexist, how could it be simple? If things within could be comprehended through common sense, they would’ve been thoroughly studied long ago. Why haven’t we been able to understand the situation here until now?”

Su Yang slowly nodded, Lin Ke’s words were indeed true; the matters inside could not be easily researched.

Otherwise, even with the extensive scope of the Land of Chaos, a map would have been drawn by now.

”Are you saying we can enter the main trunk through the nodes?” the Second City Lord eagerly asked, ”But what is the benefit of entering the main trunk?”

”The scope of the main trunk is vast; where we are right now could be the smallest twig of the World Tree, with a channel only a few hundred meters wide. The channel of the main trunk is wider than a Great World!” Lin Ke said, ”As for benefits, it’s hard to say. There are indeed some advantages inside the main trunk, but it’s also dangerous. However, you came here to work, and surely it’s for the main trunk!”

”The main trunk is that wide?” Su Yang asked in amazement.

”Yes!” Lin Ke nodded, ”I’ve mentioned before why the World Tree is called the World Tree. It’s because the Great Worlds are like the fruits growing on the World Tree. Think about it, what fruit could have a diameter thicker than the tree trunk itself?”

”Jackfruit!” the Second City Lord said casually.

”What kind of stuff?” Lin Ke asked, puzzled; he didn’t understand what the Second City Lord was talking about.

”Ignore him; he’s talking nonsense!” Su Yang glared at the Second City Lord, saying that no one would treat him like a mute if he didn’t speak.

”So if they’ve entered the main trunk, it’ll be hard to track them?” the Great City Lord asked.

Lin Ke said, ”Indeed, it’s not easy to track them in the main trunk. However, even if they enter the main trunk, they wouldn’t dare run around blindly; there are still some tracks that can be traced.”

”Why wouldn’t they dare run around blindly?” Su Yang asked curiously.

”First of all, the scope of the main trunk is incredibly vast, and there are many branches connected to it. Once they take the wrong path, it’s extremely difficult to find the original crossroads again!” Lin Ke said, ”Secondly, it’s due to the power dynamics within the main trunk.”

”Power dynamics?” Su Yang asked in surprise, ”Are there power dynamics in the main trunk? Who has power there?”

”With over three thousand Great Worlds, many members of the Demon Beast Clan and Human Clan, numerous strong figures have entered the Land of Chaos seeking survival. The numbers are beyond your imagination. Although many have died within the branching twigs, quite a few have fortunately entered the main trunk.” Lin Ke said, ”After all these years with accumulation from so many Great Worlds, how many Saint Emperors there are in the main trunk is also an unimaginable figure. As long as there’s life, it inevitably leads to power dynamic divisions; this is unavoidable. Given the vast scope of the main trunk with so many strong figures inside, after so many years of accumulation, it’s inevitable that many different powers are divided in here. Based on these powers, several domains have been delineated. It’s similar to the different Dynasties among the Demon Beast Clan, where they aren’t entirely peaceful with one another; there are inevitably some conflicts.”

Su Yang was dumbfounded; he hadn’t imagined such a situation.

”In the Land of Chaos, without Spiritual Energy, can they still compete and delineate such power dynamics?” Su Yang asked in surprise, ”What’s the point of having these power dynamics? Without Spiritual Energy or Spiritual Source, everyone is merely waiting here to die; what’s the use of competing for these?”

The three Crystal Skulls nodded repeatedly, they couldn’t understand this either.

”Indeed, there is no Spiritual Energy or Spiritual Source within the channels of the Land of Chaos. However, the main trunk is different; within the main trunk, a large number of Spiritual Sources will appear from time to time. Furthermore, from the outside Great Worlds, some surviving Saint Emperors continuously enter the channels of the Land of Chaos. These Saint Emperors bring in a substantial amount of Spiritual Sources, which can be contested from them!” Lin Ke said, ”The Spiritual Sources brought by Saint Emperors entering from the outside, along with those appearing within the main trunk, together, form the primary source for the survival of these Saint Emperors in the Land of Chaos.”
