Beastmaster of the Ages

Chapter 3445 - We Can’t Get Caught Up

All of a sudden, a reverend rushed in with a pale look and cried, ”Your Eminence, Suishen Yue’s subsoul scattered!”

The words caused the laughing and chatting women to fall silent and turn to look at Eminent Jinying with cold, steely faces. They had just been praising Suishen Yue moments before, calling him a talented and reliable good old-fashioned man of House Suishen, unlike a certain someone who was just an outsider that married into the family. But that man of so-called legitimate stock had just perished.

”Shut up! If you speak nonsense like that again, I’ll slay your entire family line!” Eminent Jinying scolded the reverend as she rose, her expression contorting.

The reverend seemed extremely troubled. ”I’m just here to bear the message. I’m extremely sorry for your loss and grief. Your Eminence, I pray that you spare me and accept my condolences!”

”Scram!” Eminent Jinying sent the reverend flying with a kick before awkwardly turning back to her friends. ”What kind of person would dare to spread fake news like that? My son’s already an eighth-level foundationeer and about to become an eminent. He has the Kunlun Watcher and he’s with my husband. How could his subsoul possibly shatter? What a joke!”

”That’s right....” The women gave each other weird looks of shock. Everything fell silent.

Even though Eminent Jinying sounded relaxed when she said that, she almost immediately crumbled. Her face drooped and her eyes gradually turned bloodshot. Hundreds of transmission stones in her spatial ring were vibrating!

Some of her friends took out their own transmission stones and picked up the calls, only for the projections to say, ”Did you hear? Suishen Yue’s no more!”

The words hit like lightning bolts. Eminent Jinying immediately knelt on the ground and bawled, tears flying. ”My son! My precious son!”

The pain and anguish she felt was immeasurable; there was nothing her friends could do to comfort her. They knew how much she loved her precious son. Before Tianming had shown up, she’d constantly boasted about her son to others. Suishen Yue was one step away from becoming an eminent and she already considered him one. He should have been the leader of the younger generation!

In her eyes, Suishen Yue would ultimately be the pillar that supported House Suishen, something that youngsters like Suishen Yuan and Suishen Yao couldn’t compare to! But now he was gone, just like that....

Eminent Jinying rushed to the Subsoul Hall like a madwoman under the prying eyes of the onlookers. When she personally saw the shattered subsoul, she vomited a significant volume of blood before backing off and crying on the ground.

”What happened to Eminent Jinying?” ”Her precious son died in the Yin-Yang World.”

”That’s unexpected! How could someone as powerful as him die? Who killed him? Was it a native or someone from Myriadpath Valley?”

”We still don’t know.”

”Looks like there’s many mysteries to be unraveled in the Yin-Yang World.”

”Don’t the mistrunners only kill Yumos? Why’d they kill someone from House Suishen this time?”

”Well, if the natives really have declared war against us, why bother distinguishing between us? Even eminents and reverends will be hard pressed to defend themselves in enemy territory. Even someone so distinguished from the younger generation like Suishen Yue died. I think we should all retreat back to Myriadpath Valley.”

”That’s right! Suishen Yue’s death is a huge loss to us! Who’ll be there to lead us in the future?”

”Did you forget? Pathkeeper Li is even stronger!”

”Pathkeeper Li’s indeed strong, but we have no idea where he’s been lately. Who knows if his talent will persist into the Foundation stage?”

The topics echoed nonstop in the public consciousness, especially after the deaths of Qitian Muchen and Suishen Yue. The top geniuses of Myriadpath Valley had been perishing ever since the incident in Infinitum.

Some people had personally witnessed Suishen Yue’s name fade away from the third spot of the Maniverse Ranking and were absolutely certain that he was no more. The strongest impression they had of him was from how he had been sidelined and ’cheated on’ on the eve of the day he was supposed to marry Suishen Yao. News of his death made him the butt of jokes once more; he would never live to overturn that impression.

”Tch, I thought that Pathkeeper Li and Suishen Yue would have a mighty clash a thousand years from now. I didn’t think he would croak so soon.”

”Now that he’s dead, Pathkeeper Li’s status in House Suishen will be even higher. Unsurprisingly, the couple will be the future leaders of the house. Maybe the Little Demon King will be the figurehead and Pathkeeper Li will wield the actual power!”

”Yeah. How could Suishen Yue possibly compare with that power couple?”

In Myriadpath Valley, cultivators below the reverend tier were the majority. After experiencing the huge waves of changes, they were even more convinced that they shouldn’t go to the Yin-Yang World for no good reason.

Suishen Yue hadn’t had any true friends and his mother was the only one who mourned his death. Still in her grief, she went to visit the old patriarch.

”Suishen Yue’s gone?” Being Suishen Yue’s grandfather, the old patriarch had tried to be fair to him even though he was rather displeased with Suishen Hongtian. His eldest grandson had died! It was truly a tragedy for the young to pass before the old. He powerlessly sighed, eyes red with grief. ”It was my fault. I haven’t truly grasped the dangers of the Yin-Yang World all the way up until now.... I should’ve ordered everyone to come back. Things are too chaotic over there now!”

”What’s the use of saying that now?! My son’s gone for good! He’ll never be brought back!” Eminent Jinying shouted. ”And you’re still playing favorites! How can you just sit there after your eldest grandson died? I bet you’d immediately take action if something happened to Suishen Yao or her brother!”

”Silence!” The old man furrowed his brows and refused to squabble with her. ”We still aren’t sure if the mistrunners are even natives of the Yin-Yang World. We have to properly investigate the culprit. Lately, elites from House Qitian and House Yumo have been flooding into the Yin-Yang World. They could’ve been the ones who did it....”

Back when the valley lord had killed his own son, the old patriarch had already determined the Yin-Yang World to be far too chaotic. It was entirely possible that some people would take advantage of the chaos that the mistrunners had caused to further their own agendas. The old patriarch knew how big a deal all of it was becoming.

”There’s somebody messing around in the Yin-Yang World, yet no traces have been left behind. It’ll only destabilize Myriadpath Valley even more. Once we draw our blades against each other, it’ll be a bloodbath!” But by the time he had realized the problem, it was already too late. ”We have to withdraw and get all the reverends and eminents of our house to come back. We can’t get caught up in this!”

The old patriarch had made up his mind, even if it meant that they would never learn who Suishen Yue’s true killer was or whether Suishen Yao’s mother had actually perished.

”Withdraw? Shouldn’t we send everyone to look for the killer?!” Eminent Jinying angrily cried.

”We can’t afford to lose anyone else! The situation there will have wide-ranging consequences! House Qitian already threw themselves into the mix, so we can’t get caught up in it.”
