Beastmaster of the Ages

Qitian Muchen’s anger spread to the little black beast he was hugging. Yazi was savage at its core. Having devoured so many myriadpath source spirits and been nurtured by so much springwater, it had completely recovered. It hadn’t forgotten about the humiliation it had received and threateningly hissed.

”Should we retreat through the Lumistar Formation first and wait?” said one of the three bodyguards, Qitian Yi.

”There’s no need!” Qitian Muchen spat. It was already humiliating enough that he’d had to retreat so far to stay safe. Not to mention, those three had also heard about him killing the seven girls after kowtowing to the Mistrunner. He turned to them with a harsh glare and said, ”The Mistrunner’s words were nonsense. If what he said spreads in Myriadpath Valley, it won’t end well for any of you!”

”Yes!” The three bodyguards felt rather taken aback at seeing their proud scion pushed into such a desperate mental state, but they didn’t dare to say a word about it.

Their young master simply hadn’t had any true rivals in Myriadpath Valley. As such, he hadn’t had many trials to forge his spirit and character, not having experienced any true danger. Part of coming to the Yin-Yang World was to remedy that exact issue. However, it was clear that Qitian Muchen was a little too emotional after suffering such a huge blow for the first time.

He stared at the depths of the yin-yang essence storm while the little beast he held impatiently twitched. Just then, a purple vortex surrounded by fire and lightning suddenly came flying their way and exploded in the middle of Qitian Muchen and his three bodyguards, scattering the storm in the surrounding area!

”What’s going on?!” All four of them were stumped. Who would dare attack them at the Lumistar Formation? Didn’t they know that eminents could pass through the formation at any given moment? Qitian Yi, Qitian Wan, and Qitian Meng had a bad feeling.

”Careful!” The explosion was clearly from an ability. The three eighth-level foundationeers had been pretty badly shaken by it, while Qitian Muchen—a sixth-level foundationeer who was invincible among seventh-level foundationeers—and his ninesource beast had been sent flying from the explosion.

It was actually a combination of Ying Huo’s Empyrean Flame Vortex and Meow Meow’s Chaossky Blitzsource, Blitzburn Origin! It was their most powerful pure ability to date, and the resulting explosion eclipsed even the brightness of the Lumistar Formation, drawing the eyes of quite a lot of people in the Yin-Yang World.

”Who’s that?!” Qitian Muchen seemed rather dazed at the sight of the Mistrunner in front of him.

”I’m your grandfather!” Tianming was fused with his lifebound beasts and had all ten of his totems ready, wielding the black-and-gold Infinitum Stele. During the chaos, he charged straight for the young scion with Fiveway Blitzrun, ignoring the bodyguards!

”He’s an entire level stronger than before!” Qitian Muchen was completely stumped. Before, Tianming had already been powerful enough to completely stomp him, let alone now! Every level in the Foundation stage was a big deal, which was why they were usually split into the early, middle, and late phases.

Tianming’s strength had always been his immense power as a single combat unit. ”The youngest son of the valley lord turned out to be a rather unworthy descendant of mine. Since you dare to talk back to your grandfather, you deserve death!” he roared and mustered all his power, gripping the maniverse-class sword projection in his hand tight as he executed the Greatsun Suishen Art!

The strike hit like a supernova, releasing all the energy in his body in a single instant and perfectly fused it with the movements of his sword, using all of his orders as a foundation for channeling the power!

A sky-high purple sword projection shot toward Qitian Muchen. Since beastmasters were weaker than specters in one-on-one fights, not to mention their comparative lack of agility, the three Qitian bodyguards were just a smidge too late as they charged toward the assailant with their sevensource beasts.

There was no way Qitian Muchen could deflect the Greatsun Suishen Art! His expression shifted into one of true terror. In that instant, his soul seemed to scatter. There had been no precedent for the death of the son of a valley lord, yet the possibility seemed incredibly real to him.

”Yazi, hold him back!” He placed all his hopes on his ninesource beast.

The critter bravely roared despite facing a much greater power. All it needed to do was to buy some time so that Qitian Muchen could widen the distance between him and Tianming just enough for the three bodyguards to step in.

But alas, Tianming wouldn’t give them the chance. The Infinitum Stele thrust toward the ninesource beast with great force, its projection not shrinking in the slightest! Ying Huo and the rest also launched their abilities at it.

Qitian Muchen had only just realized that his beast was the Mistrunner’s true target. Tianming had ignored all of Qitian Muchen’s strikes and focused on attacking Yazi alone. First, the Greatsun Suishen Art cut the beast’s tough body into two halves. Then the Pentagram Suishen Art came in to finish the job, mincing the beast into a rain of tiny meat chunks that could no longer weather the storms around it and turned into dust!

Yazi’s pitiful cries of pain echoed in the storm as its body disintegrated. Its bodiless soul was eventually swept away to who-knows-where. A ninesource beast that had the potential to become a tensource beast had actually perished by Tianming’s hand! There wasn’t even a way for it to be made into a lifebound spirit now that its corpse was gone.

Qitian Muchen and his three bodyguards had been completely mistaken. All of them had tried to protect the young scion, while the beast that had only been meant to slightly slow Tianming down had ended up taking the full brunt of the attack, helpless to defend itself!

Yazi had been a beast with one of the highest bloodlines in Myriadpath Valley. There were only three such ninesource beasts, all belonging to the valley lord’s three children, and only two were left.

Qitian Muchen’s face turned to stone before he burst into a grieving madness. Tears of blood flowed from his eyes as he howled in endless agony, not only for Yazi, but also for himself! His career as a beastmaster was over. Even if an astral god like him could survive all kinds of things, he would be stuck at the sixth level of the Foundation stage for the rest of his life.
