Beastmaster of the Ages

“Grandmother, which are you asking about?” Tianming embarrassedly asked.

“Miss Ling’er.”

When Tianming started giggling, Dongshen Yue bonked him on the head, making him see stars.

“Alright, alright! I get it. Don’t worry, she’s mine. Even unto death and all that.” Tianming blinked.

“Then what about the other two? Can you get them?” Dongshen Yue anxiously asked.

“Get them? Don’t be like that, Grandmother. Our relationship is very pure and family friendly,” Tianming laughed. Actually, he understood that Dongshen Yue had already been won over by their talent. But Tianming was clear on his relationships with Xiaoxiao and Moran. He knew that having a strong relationship meant the two elders would help them more.

“Pure my ass!” Lin Xiao had arrived without being noticed and grabbed Tianming’s other ear. “Let Grandfather tell you, these are all fine young ladies. Don’t miss this opportunity.”

“It’s not about missing an opportunity. Go away.” Dongshen Yue glared and Lin Xiao quickly scrammed. She then turned toward Tianming. “Grandmother is a woman too. You can’t trick me. While there’s nothing now, those two ladies are completely devoted to you and willing to do anything you ask.”

“Dammit. My grandmother noticed my blasted overflowing charm!” Tianming sighed.

“You little punk! I hate playboys like you the most.…”

“So does Grandmother think it’s good or bad?” Tianming asked.

“Good, it’s very good.”

Dongshen Yue had clearly misunderstood something, but that was fine. The misunderstanding would make the elders treat Xiaoxiao and Moran much better.

“Let me ask you something,” Dongshen Yue coughed.

“Please do,” Tianming said.

“It’s like this.... If they want to stay in the Lin Clan to cultivate and use its resources, they must have an identity belonging to the Lin Clan. Ling’er is fine, as she’s our clan’s daughter-in-law, but the other two won’t be able to access the core resources if they’re just servants. I’m asking hypothetically—this is a complete hypothetical—but would they be willing to accept the identity of your concubines for now? The Swordgod Lin Clan’s rules just happen to limit it at one wife and two concubines, so you have three spots,” Dongshen Yue guided.

“Won’t be a problem.” Tianming nodded.

“Really? I’m asking you if they’ll agree.”

“Of course they will,” Tianming said.

“How are you so sure?” Dongshen Yue suspiciously asked.

“Look at my face,” Tianming said.

“What?” Dongshen Yue was confused.

“This blasted overflowing charm of mine!”

“You rascal!” Dongshen Yue wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. She hadn’t felt this amused for a very long time. She had been stewing in pain and helplessness for a century. Suddenly, a grandson had popped out of nowhere in her twilight years! He didn’t seem very reliable, but he had indeed brought true joy. “Are you sure they’ll be fine?”

“They will be.” Tianming knew they would be completely fine with a temporary identity to grow in Ebonia. It was very normal for the Swordgod Lin Clan to have rules, as they were a clan style faction, so they would have strict rules about family inheritances and management. Being servants would make their path ahead very hard and make it very easy for them to be bullied.

“Then it’s settled! Were they all born on your skypiercer-class world?” Dongshen Yue doubtfully asked.

“Yes!

“Looks like your world is quite interesting. Bring Grandmother over for a trip when we’re free so I can see your path of growth,” Dongshen Yue said.

“No problem!” Tianming said. Who knew when they would ever be free anyway.

“Feng’er, go tell them about the concubine matter. Explain clearly!” Dongshen Yue urged.

“It seems that their talent has completely convinced you,” Tianming laughed.

“Nonsense. Those ladies are all a thousand times stronger than you. Nurture them well and they’ll shield you in the future, giving you a comfortable life. From tomorrow onward, I’ll personally guide them in cultivating.” Dongshen Yue rolled her eyes.

Tianming wasn’t worried about the three’s future when he saw how impatient Dongshen Yue was.

……

Tianming went over to tell them about the matter. They weren’t unreasonable, as they knew getting a foothold in the Swordgod Lin Clan wasn’t an easy thing. They wouldn’t even have a path forward if the two grandparents hadn’t appeared.

“Ling’er, is it okay?” Tianming asked with a soft tone.

“Of course! I’m sure you’re very happy inside right now,” Feiling said.

“I’m not that kind of person!” Tianming said.

“You already are in the eyes of your grandparents.”

“As time passes, they’ll naturally understand how devoted I am.”

Feiling didn’t really mind, as the three were quite familiar with each other and had even shared weal and woe together this time, thus strengthening their bond.

“Alright, Lin Lao’er, help the kids settle down. I’ll go update the Clan Registry and bring back Lin Clan disciple cards,” Dongshen Yue said.

“Those cards are the proof of your identity as a member of the clan, which will allow you to move freely in the Infinitum Swordsea, as well as cultivate, battle, and rise,” Lin Xiao further explained.

“Understood.” For now, they just had to listen to Tianming’s grandparents’ arrangements.

“Since you’re one family, you can live together in one hall. I’ll bring you over. No one has been to Brokensword Peak for very long, so there’s dust everywhere.”

“Grandfather, can we have two halls?” Xiaoxiao gingerly asked.

“Yes, you can!”

Clearly, Xiaoxiao and Moran didn’t want to get in the way of Tianming and Feiling’s lovey dovey time. The two had already made a plan to be cultivation maniacs from now on!

……

The two halls chosen were on the newer side and a quick sweep made them livable.

Tianming left them to get settled in while he stayed by Lin Xiao’s side. “Grandfather, so many exciting things have happened to Ebonia, but I honestly still don’t even know what my father did. Can you explain it to me?” That was an important matter, and he could tell that Dongshen Yue didn’t really want to talk about it.

“That matter?” Remembering it was actually quite painful for the two elders, which was why they weren’t willing to try. Checking Tianming’s talent and helping them get settled in was looking forward, but looking backward only brought pain.

However, Tianming had the right to know. Hence, Lin Xiao sighed and waved to Tianming. “Come, let’s have tea.”

The two sat down in a pavilion.
