Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

Vol 9. Chapter 40: Failed to Push a Wedding, Got Pushed Instead

“How are we supposed to defeat someone like that...”

This time, Rosvisser saw Leon looking almost at a loss in the face of an enemy.

In the past, he had never feared any powerful foe or hardship.

Whether it was the early resistance, the kingdom’s turmoil, being exiled into a future twenty years ahead, or Shadow’s attempt to become a second Dragon God—he had never been as uncertain as he was now.

Atos was not merely undying. In the true sense, he could not be killed.

He could only be sealed, or the passage between the Void and Samael could be blocked.

If there truly were a way to defeat him, then perhaps tens of thousands of years ago, Tiamat’s gods had already tried it.

And against an enemy even the gods could not handle, what could Leon do when he only held half of the Universe Force?

Rosvisser understood Leon’s pressure. The responsibility on his shoulders was too heavy.

So heavy that even with her, as Leon’s wife, always by his side—fighting against fate with him—she still couldn’t make it easy for him.

But Rosvisser would never leave him to bear it alone.

That had been their promise from the start.

“One day, we will defeat Atos.”

The queen said softly. “So before that day comes, you, me, and everyone else—we can’t fall. We have to witness the moment peace arrives with our own eyes. Alright?”

Hearing his wife’s comfort, Leon’s heavy mood lifted a little.

He smiled, patted the scales beneath him, and said:

“Have I ever told you, honey? Being able to marry you is basically the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

The moment he finished, Leon felt the silver dragon’s body shudder hard.

Rosvisser hurriedly adjusted her flight posture.

“Y-you idiot... don’t say things like that all of a sudden...”

“A wife °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° who still gets shy this easily after more than ten years of marriage—where am I supposed to find a second one?” Leon laughed.

Then he turned, put both hands behind his head, and lay comfortably on the slightly cool dragon back.

“It’s so good having you, honey.”

Rosvisser let out a soft laugh.

“I’m also glad you appeared in my life, Leon.”

Some stories might not start beautifully, but that doesn’t stop them from becoming a happy tale people long for.

After leaving the Sea Dragon Clan’s territory, Rosvisser asked:

“Are we going straight home next?”

Leon thought for a moment.

“You go home first. I’ll be back in a few days.”

“Hm? Where are you going?”

Leon stood up on the dragon’s back, hands on his waist, looking toward the distance.

“The Empire.”

...

...

“Captain, this is the seventy-third time I’m telling you: if you don’t bring Sister-in-Law next time, don’t come back.”

“The total number of times I’ve gone back to the Empire after marrying my wife doesn’t even add up to seventy-three. What are you babbling about?”

Inside a small tavern in the Empire, Leon, Rebecca, Morgan, and Noa sat in a corner where they wouldn’t easily be noticed.

Leon took a sip of the orange juice that had just been served, then asked:

“Also, does seventy-three mean something special? Why pick that number?”

“Nope. I just said it.” Rebecca snorted.

Leon gave a grin that wasn’t quite a grin and teased, “You really are—just as funny as ever, Rebecca.”

As he spoke, Leon turned to look at Martin beside Rebecca.

“My daughter already graduated from the Azure Dragon Division.”

Martin blinked in confusion. “W-what... what about it, Captain?”

“Oh, I graduated too. Just one year later than you,” Rebecca added.

“What are you even talking about?” Martin asked.

Leon smiled and asked back:

“What I mean is, my daughter already graduated—so when are you and Rebecca putting marriage on the schedule?”

It had been two or three years since Martin and Rebecca confessed to each other. During that time, the little couple had been sweet as honey, writing letters to the Silver Dragon Sanctuary every few days and sending photos.

They had thoroughly enjoyed the thrill of aggressively showing off their relationship.

Leon and Rosvisser also often asked in letters when they were getting married.

And every single reply from Martin and Rebecca was the same:

“No rush, no rush~”

Clack!

Leon set down his orange juice and looked at the couple across from him.

“Still no rush? You two aren’t young anymore. If you don’t get married soon, you’ll miss the best age for having children.”

Rebecca crossed her arms over her chest and pursed her lips.

“As if everyone’s like you, Captain—having kids before marriage at twenty—then having twins right away—back in the Empire that would be illegal!”

The marriage talk still hadn’t moved forward, but the crazy girl’s ability to change the subject and bicker had clearly improved.

Leon shook his head with a smile. The whole point was avoiding the main issue and only reading the gossip pages.

So he looked at Martin again.

“Three years ago, you said ‘no rush’ because you were busy managing the Lionheart Order and rebuilding the Empire.

Two years ago, you said ‘no rush’ because you wanted to fully enjoy the sweet dating phase with Rebecca.

One year ago, you said ‘no rush’ because you hadn’t decided how you wanted to propose.

Half a year ago, you said ‘no rush’—my wife read that letter and even she got anxious. Do you understand what I’m saying, Martin?”

Martin opened his mouth, about to argue, but Rebecca lifted a hand and stopped him.

She also knew her boyfriend’s brain wasn’t capable of dealing with the captain’s slippery cunning.

“This kind of stalling? Leave it to me! Captain, actually the reason I suddenly got anxious isn’t because Martin and I aren’t getting married,” Rebecca said seriously.

Leon blinked hard. “Then why?”

“Because you and Sister-in-Law aren’t married, that’s why!”

Rebecca’s argument was surprisingly airtight.

“We’ve only been dating for three years and you’re already pushing us to get married. But you and Sister-in-Law have been together for fifteen years. You’ve got so many kids they’re practically ready to form a whole tribe on their own—and I still haven’t seen you two get married.”

As expected of Rebecca—she hit Leon’s weak spot with surgical precision.

“You, the guy who had kids before marriage and still hasn’t held a wedding after fifteen years—what right do you have to push other people to get married, huh~”

And Leon really was left a little speechless by Rebecca’s logic.

He took an awkward sip of orange juice, thinking about how to defuse the situation neatly.

“So—” Rebecca took a happy sip of her own juice.

“No rush~ no rush~”

Martin also breathed out in relief and quietly gave Rebecca a thumbs-up.

The crazy girl hummed smugly.

Just like that, this round of mutual wedding-pushing finally came to a temporary end.

And Noa, who had kept silent the whole time, finally spoke up as well.

“Alright. Now that you’re done rambling, it’s time to talk business. You didn’t come back once just to push a wedding and then get pressed back down, right?”

Luckily, there was someone competent on the team, and Leon immediately escaped the embarrassment of being pushed instead.

“There is something urgent. Do you remember the Demon Sword Shards Atos left behind in Samael? Recently...”

Leon recounted everything that had happened lately regarding the Demon Eye, including what had just occurred with the Sea Dragon Clan.

After listening, everyone couldn’t help feeling uneasy about the Demon Eye.

“What a creepy thing...” Rebecca sighed.

“Captain, did you come back this time because the Demon Eye is coming to the Empire?”

Leon shook his head.

“I’m not sure. But we need to prepare defenses in advance.”

“No problem, Captain. Tell us—what do we do?” Martin asked.

Leon slowly turned his head and looked out the window at the flow of people and carriages.

After a brief silence, he said in a low voice:

“Take me to see Shadow.”
