Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

Vol 9. Chapter 35: That’s Your Master’s Wife’s Father!

No matter what that thing actually was, it possessed a certain degree of intelligence.

Absorbing Poseidon wasn’t enough. It even wanted to absorb more Sea Dragon people present, including Charlotte, one by one.

“Th-then what do we do, Your Highness?” a clansman said. “Raging Sea Prison is already a top-tier control-type spell. And now we’re surrounded by an endless ocean—this is practically water magic’s home field. With our strength, we can’t break through this move at all.”

Charlotte bit her lower lip and thought for a moment before she said in a low voice:

“To maintain a Raging Sea Prison at this level for a long time would definitely consume enormous magic power. Whatever is controlling Father surely doesn’t want Father’s magic power to run dry, because it still wants to absorb him.”

Charlotte continued:

“So I think... we probably won’t be trapped for long.”

“But once the Raging Sea Prison lifts, doesn’t that mean the land beneath us has already been completely contaminated by that thing, and then it’ll be our turn next?” another clansman said in panic, clearly already seeing what was about to happen.

Charlotte frowned and murmured:

“Yeah. Right now all we can do is hope reinforcements arrive faster.”

She withdrew her gaze and, through the watery barrier of the Raging Sea Prison, looked toward the distant sea horizon.

“Tiger... you need to be faster...”

...

Time passed second by second.

The situation of Sea Dragon King Poseidon, floating in midair, grew worse and worse.

His face was deathly pale, his eye sockets sunken, his arms hanging limply—like a wound-up puppet on the verge of losing all its strength.

During the time they were trapped, Charlotte did not sit and wait for death.

First she stabilized the injuries of the two clansmen Poseidon had wounded at the start, then she kept trying to awaken her father’s consciousness.

She called and called, but Poseidon still showed no response.

Charlotte forced herself not to lose her rationality, because some of the Sea Dragon people around her had already begun to crack under despair and pressure, starting to give up.

If she panicked too, fear would spread like a bomb straight through everyone present.

“Father... if you can hear my voice, can you answer me?” Charlotte said.

She stood on the beach, exhausted, her throat already hoarse. Watching Poseidon grow more and more haggard, her heart was tormented just the same.

“Father...”

Charlotte could no longer hold herself up. She sank to her knees, bracing herself with both hands. Tears and sweat mixed together and dripped onto the sand, drop by drop.

In a daze, she suddenly heard a weak voice from above.

“Cha... Char...”

“Father?”

Charlotte jerked her head up, lifting her face with difficulty to look at Poseidon.

“Father, you can hear me, right!”

But when she saw Poseidon’s expression clearly again, the smile on her face froze.

At this moment, only miserable whites remained in Poseidon’s eyes.

Veins bulged on his forehead, and a “glug-glug” sound rolled in his throat.

A幽 purple, chilling aura surged up from beneath his skin again, accompanied by a power fluctuation that completely did not belong to Samael, sweeping across the entire island in an instant.

The Sea Dragon people were crushed by that pressure, collapsing to the ground, struck dumb.

Only Charlotte still endured it and faced Poseidon head-on.

“Father!...”

“...R-run... run...” the weak voice rasped out.

“Father, what did you say?”

“Run!—Run!—Gah!!”

As the words fell, Poseidon’s body erupted with an even more powerful energy fluctuation.

Waves of幽 purple energy rippled outward from him again and again.

In an instant, the sky changed color, the sea surged wildly, and even the entire island began to tremble.

“Wh-what the hell is that thing!”

“This is clearly not Samael’s power anymore—did His Majesty get tainted by some Void Realm filth?”

“He’ll kill all of us... That’s it. We’re all going to die here.”

...

“Cover Princess Charlotte and get her somewhere safe! Now!” someone shouted.

At the order, the clansmen split into two groups—one to hold the rear, one to shield Charlotte and prepare to relocate.

But they were on an island that was almost completely isolated from the world, surrounded by the barrier of the Raging Sea Prison. With no way up, no way down, where could they possibly relocate to?

Just as the Sea Dragon people spread out to brace for battle, Poseidon dove down at a speed the naked eye couldn’t track and instantly seized one clansman by the throat.

That clansman gripped Poseidon’s wrist with both hands, kicking and stomping at Poseidon’s chest with all his strength.

But Poseidon was like an ancient bell—steady and immovable. No matter how the other struggled, he didn’t budge.

“Your Majesty... Your Majesty, wake up... cough—cough—” the clansman rasped.

He tried to call His Majesty back to himself, but unsurprisingly, he failed.

Poseidon tightened his grip.

Everyone thought he would simply strangle the clansman to death.

But what no one expected was that he intended to...

Absorb the man’s power.

Visible magic power began to seep out from under the clansman’s skin, and every last bit of it was absorbed into Poseidon.

And that clansman’s body slowly whitened. He struggled twice more, and then only a skin-and-bone corpse remained.

The scene stunned everyone present.

Being sucked into a dried corpse alive was far more painful than being killed instantly.

“So then—who’s next?” it said.

That was no longer Poseidon’s voice.

It was eerie, gloomy, and terrifying.

Like a lonely wraith that had been tortured countless times, and finally crawled out of a hell of pain.

It sniffed, as if it could smell something no one else could.

Finally, that scent guided it to look at Charlotte at the very back of the crowd.

“You’re different from these people. You’re stronger than all of them. So next—itʼs you!”

As the words fell, Poseidon became a blue afterimage and shot straight toward Charlotte.

“Protect Princess Charlotte—pff!”

The clansman’s shout wasn’t even finished before the energy shockwave from Poseidon’s charge blasted him away, blood spraying from his mouth.

Not only him—everyone who had been preparing to intercept was knocked flying by Poseidon’s strikes before they could even react.

Its target was obvious—

Charlotte.

Her power was stronger.

So these “low-grade foods” no longer interested it.

Watching Poseidon close in at terrifying speed, Charlotte’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Father...”

Poseidon reached out, five fingers curling, and went straight for Charlotte’s throat!

Charlotte shut her eyes. She didn’t dare look anymore. She could only wait quietly for death to come.

But after waiting several seconds—nothing happened.

She opened her eyes cautiously, and when she saw the figure that had descended like a god and stood in front of her, a flash of shock and joy crossed her gaze.

“Tiger!”

White-streaked hair stirred gently in the sea breeze. Tiger held a blade in one hand, and with the other, he firmly seized Poseidon’s wrist.

This top-tier mist dragon, who had been silent for more than ten years, finally stepped onto the battlefield again.

To protect the one he loved most.

“I never thought there’d come a day I’d draw my sword against the dragon race again.”

Tiger’s voice was low. After a pause, he muttered:

“And against my wife’s father, no less.”

The old man’s line came out and the rescue looked cool.

But like his disciple, it carried a little absurdity in the cool.

Tiger didn’t waste time. He flipped Poseidon’s face aside, then followed with a knee strike that slammed into Poseidon’s abdomen and sent him skidding several meters back.

At the same time, over a hundred blue flood-dragons broke through the upper layer of the Raging Sea Prison and dropped down one after another.

“Tiger!”

Charlotte stepped forward. “You... your magic power recovered?”

“Not yet.”

Tiger touched his chest. “Most of my magic power has gone into nourishing the heart-guard scale in your father’s body. Sure, the Sea Dragons have plenty of miracle pills that can greatly shorten the process, but... my magic power is still very limited.”

“Then...”

“Don’t worry.”

Tiger looked at the Sea Dragon clansman who had been sucked into a dried corpse.

“Your father’s under some kind of curse right now—he doesn’t recognize kin, he kills whoever he sees. But the way that thing kills is by absorbing the target’s magic power, right?”

Charlotte nodded.

“Yes.”

“Then that’s perfect.”

Tiger raised his blade and held it horizontally in front of him.

“I don’t have much magic power, and I’m a tough old bone to chew. It won’t like food like me. That way, I’ll have more chances to circle with it.”

“But... but it’s still very dangerous, Tiger, we...”

Tiger lifted a hand and cut Charlotte off.

“The Sea Dragon soldiers I brought just spent a lot of strength to punch a gap in the Raging Sea Prison. Now I’ll quietly open another one, and you’ll seize the chance and get out of here. I’ll stay and hold your father back, to buy you enough time.”

Hearing that, Charlotte of course refused immediately.

“No, no, I won’t let you—mm...”

But Tiger didn’t give her a chance to waste words. He turned back, brushed past her neck, and kissed her on the lips.

It was brief. Yes—truly just a kiss.

Tiger gently pushed her shoulder.

“Go.”

Charlotte pressed her lips together. The warmth he left behind was still there.

She looked at the white-haired man before her. Time had eroded his body, but it could never磨平 his will and courage.

“Then be very careful, Tiger.”

“Alright.”

Charlotte looked at Tiger, reluctant to leave. Only then did she turn around and, together with the Sea Dragon warriors who had come as reinforcements, combine their strength to break through the Raging Sea Prison.

And Tiger faced Poseidon head-on.

Poseidon stared at this sudden intruder. That hoarse, eerie voice sounded again.

“You make me feel anger— a man who looks harmless on the outside, but is dangerous.”

A truly nasty piece of work...

Tiger slowly lifted the long blade in his hand and set a charging stance.

“What you’re describing is my disciple. Disciple like master—only natural... Stop the nonsense. Get off Poseidon!”

The old man was the type who didn’t waste words. He didn’t want to talk to this ghost thing any more. He raised his blade and charged.

Tiger kicked off with his right foot and shot out like a cannonball.

The blade tore through the air, the howl ringing in his ears.

In a blink, Tiger had already closed in on Poseidon.

“Take this!”

Tiger swung and chopped at Poseidon’s neck.

But the opponent was Dragon King–level. With an easy sidestep, he avoided it.

“Ah... too slow!”

Poseidon sneered. After slipping Tiger’s strike, he slapped a hand onto Tiger’s chest and condensed energy.

In the next moment, a幽 purple beam erupted and hit Tiger at point-blank range, blasting him tens of meters away.

Tiger’s body snapped through several trees before finally stopping against a massive boulder.

Poseidon pressed the advantage, leaping up, clasping both hands together in the air, then smashing down toward Tiger, who still hadn’t stood.

Seeing that he couldn’t dodge it, Tiger simply raised his blade horizontally to block.

But faced with the blade’s edge, Poseidon had no intention of stopping.

Boom!

The heavy blow landed, kicking up thick smoke and countless碎 stones.

Along with a few sounds of metal breaking and hitting the ground, the dust slowly cleared.

Poseidon stood before Tiger, looking at the broken blade in Tiger’s hand with a cold smile.

“A worn-out junk blade thinks it can scratch me? Heh...”

Tiger lowered his eyes to the hilt he had left, then leaned weakly against the rock and closed his eyes.

Poseidon raised an eyebrow.

“What? Weren’t you just playing the big hero, saving people? Now you got scared after one move?”

But Tiger ignored the mockery and asked a completely unrelated question.

“Have you ever seen a rainy day?”

Poseidon froze. “What?”

“In summer, thunder comes.”

“You old man—did I hit you stupid? What rainy...”

BOOM!!

Before Poseidon could finish, a bolt of lightning several meters wide crashed down from the sky, instantly shattering the barrier of the Raging Sea Prison—something even over a hundred Sea Dragon people couldn’t break easily—and the final bolt struck Poseidon.

After Tiger retreated to a safe distance, he lifted his head and shouted up at the sky:

“Hold back! That’s your master’s wife’s father!”
