Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 289: Chapter 288:Blinding!!

”Big brother!! You’re finally awake!! Lucien was soooooooooo bored!!” The little guy chirped, his face leaning over from atop my head.

”So you decided to come disturb my training?”

”Eyyyy?!?? But Lucien was SUUUPER!! Good!! I didn’t disturb big brother at all!! Lucien was extra quiet.”

”That’s what you say, but I noticed you immediately you entered.”

”Ehh?? No. No. No. Lucien was extra quiet, big brother is lying!” He shook his head adamantly, not believing one bit that his ”quietness” was about as subtle as someone opening a fridge in the middle of the night.

”Haa.. alright, whatever you say.” I sighed, not about to argue with a child.

”Big brother, what are you doing?”

”I’m going out for something, but I need to check out one last thing.” Saying so, I willed up the description of the ability I’d received from the little guy.

....

:-

A pair of eyes capable of perceiving the world in its truest form.

Falsehoods, illusions, disguises, mental interference, and distortions are rendered meaningless before the Eyes of Truth, revealing only what truly exists.

The eyes perceive the essence of all things through conceptual colors, allowing the user to instinctively distinguish sincerity from deceit, purity from corruption, hostility from goodwill, and truth from falsehood.

Nothing can conceal its true nature from the gaze of Truth.

......

”Hmm.. alright then, let’s see what you do..” thinking so, I willed the ability active.

...

...

Nothing happened.

”Is this thing broken?” Before the thought could completely settle, the world brightened up...

An assortment of colors blasted my vision.

Gold, Azure, and Silver bathed the entire room, with tiny motes of light floating all around me, it was absolutely,

”Beautiful..” my eyes brightened at the magnificence of it all.

No wonder this kid was so excited all the time, if this was what he saw everytime, it’d be hard to be anything but cheerful, yet before the thought could settle,

[DING!!]

[Chaotic comprehension is activating.....].

[You have gained insight into the [Major law]....

[Your comprehension of the [MAJOR LAW] has deepened...

[Your comprehension of the [MAJOR LAW] has deepened...

[You have gained insight into the [Major law]

....

....

....

Rows and rows of notifications blasted across my screen as multiple laws were being comprehended at a pace that left even me speechless, it wasn’t long until eventually,

[Your comprehension of the [Major law] has deepened significantly...

[Major law]...

[Your comprehension of the [Major law] has deepened significantly..

[Major law]...

[Your comprehension of the [Major law] has broken through a threshold, you have comprehended the [Supreme law]...

[Supreme law]...

[Your comprehension of the [Major law] has broken through the threshold, you have comprehended the [Supreme law]..

[Supreme law]...

...

....

Multiple laws alongside those broke their thresholds, laws like lightning, storm and the others already reaching the perfected stage of the next tier..

”What?” I was stunned.

In less than thirty seconds I had advanced multiple laws and comprehended a ton more, all that and it still wasn’t stopping as the more I looked around, the more the eyes remained active, the more the laws kept pushing.

I was honestly surprised, yet the surprise kept on coming as soon enough,

[DING!!]

[You gained insight into the [MAJOR CONCEPT]...

[You gained insight into the [SUPREME CONCEPT]...

[You have glimpsed the true nature of the world...

[You have gained insight into the [SUPREME CONCEPT].....

....

....

I had started touching upon concepts.

All this while, the only concept I had was [Cosmic] but now I was touching upon others, now I didn’t know how they’d compare with my first concept but that was something I was excited to find out, yet before I could think any further,

”SOOOOO!!! COOOL!!” A cheerful and excited voice stole my attention, I turned and was immediately assaulted by a blinding whiteness..

”Too... bright..” I had to instinctively squint my eyes before the image cleared a bit, and my eyes widened when I saw who it was.

There, looking at me with his sparkling purple eyes and a cheerful grin, was Lucien, the source of that overwhelming brightness..

I knew what that white meant, the eyes instinctively transmitting it to me, but that was the reason for my absolute shock.

White- Purity, Innocence.

The mark of an untainted soul.

The intensity of which determined just how genuine and incorruptible that soul was, and what I was seeing was such a white it overwhelmed the entire space,

”Impossible.” Even for a child, let alone a demon child.

”Big brother!! Your eyes! Your eyes are glowing!! So cool!!!” His excited voice snapped me out of my shock as I conjured a mirror from the earth, Geotectonic Architect making such a thing easy, intending to see just what the little guy meant by glowing eyes, I faced the mirror, yet what I saw shook me.

RED and BLACK

A blinding and heavy mixture of a crimson and black aura surrounded my entire figure.

My entire being was gone, only an entity of crimson and black with twin golden glowing eyes stared back at me, it felt like looking at the true nature of my soul.

The image that was looking back at me was so evil it felt like a stain on the pure whiteness that the child had filled the entire space with.

The stark contrast made me pause, and once the meaning of those colors were transmitted to me by the eyes, despite not wanting to, my heart shook.

Crimson.

Every battle.

Every enemy slain.

Every resolve to kill.

Every oath of vengeance.

Had stained my soul.

Black.

Not because I delighted in evil.

But because hatred had become the foundation upon which I’d built myself.

A heavy weight suddenly fell upon my heart.

I had thought I wouldn’t be moved.

I was fine with being the devil so long as my loved ones were safe, yet looking at that conviction in the face, my heart wavered.

Was I willing to really be this?

Before I could fall deeper into that thought,

”Big brother!! Big brother!! I want eyes like those!! Gimme! Gimme!! Gimme!!! Gold is so cool!!!!” The little guy’s cheerful voice drew my attention.

I turned to him slowly, the white still as blinding as ever, then turned back to my reflection.

Lucien.

Me.

The contrast was so much I couldn’t help it.

The child had these same eyes, so he should’ve seen what I truly was, he should’ve seen... This.

So why?

Why wasn’t he scared?

He called that Draken filth bad man! Consistently, and this ability must’ve been why.

He must’ve seen the true nature of that bastard hence his Adamant calling of bad man.

But if that was so, then why is he still like this with...

..... This?

I turned to my menacing reflection as I opened my mouth and asked, my voice weaker than I’d expected, dread curling my gut,

”Little Lucien..”

”Yes big brother?” He appeared right before me, his little wings keeping him afloat.

”What... what do you see, when you look at me?”

”Ehh? Big brother? What do you mean?”

”When your eyes go shiny, what do you see when you look at me?”

”Ohhh!! That?? Big brother is shiny and cool and shiny and cool, and, and...”

”Can you... show me?” I asked, almost afraid, why I was feeling like this, I had no idea.

”Ehh? I don’t know how to big brother.”

”Just make your eyes go shiny and leave the rest to me..”

”Okay!!” He replied as his eyes glowed a bright purple hue,

”Coool!!” I couldn’t hear his words as I’d placed my hand on his head, using the same soul connection I used before to connect my vision with his, I braced myself ready to see just what devil the child saw, yet, when my eyes opened to the world from Lucien’s point of view,

”Wh.. what?” My heart shook violently.

The colors... they were changing.

The black faded away..

The crimson dissolved.

Until...

Gold. Silver. Azure.

Gone was the devilish red and black figure from before.

In its place stood a figure wrapped in a blinding radiance of Gold, Azure and Silver, the intensity rivaling even the light pouring from Lucien himself. Twin golden eyes gazed back at me, calm and unwavering.

I froze.

”...What?”

The meanings flowed into my mind.

Gold...

Big brother.

Hero.

Warm.

Always protects Lucien.

”...”

My breath caught.

That... wasn’t what the Eyes had shown me before.

Before I could process it, another color stirred.

Azure...

Never lies.

Always keeps his promises.

Then another.

Silver...

Safe.

Lucien likes being with big brother.

My thoughts came to a complete halt.

Those weren’t conceptual truths.

They weren’t universal definitions.

They were...

”... the truth as Lucien understood it?”

The realization struck me like lightning.

The Eyes of Truth hadn’t lied.

They simply revealed truth in a form the observer could understand.

To me, Gold was Genuine Goodwill.

To Lucien...

Gold was simply...

Big brother.

...

For the first time in a long while...

I wondered if the monster I’d convinced myself I’d become...

Only existed in my own eyes.

A/N: I guess how we see ourselves might not necessarily be how others see us huh? The saying ”truth is subjective” might’ve been right after all, anyways,
