Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 86: Chapter 85:Toward The Imperial City!

I didn’t want to.. the annoyance I felt just urged me to ignore the irritation and act like I didn’t hear shit..

But, this was a prime face slapping scenario, I’d be doing everyone a grand injustice if I didn’t indulge this dude..

And so, with begrudging thoughts, I made the selfless decision of turning around and gracing this nuisance with my attention..

The sight of a blue haired youth with golden eyes, a prideful expression as if he was heaven’s first son and an aura of pure arrogance rolling off of him greeted me.

Right behind him was a figure I didn’t think would dare show his face close to me again..

Micheal Solaris..

”Thaddeus, I never recalled asking for your opinion on those I decide to engage in a conversation with, did I?” The petite figure, Michell, answered, irritation clear in her voice..

”Heh.. gods forbid I try to prevent you from shaming your family name by interacting with plebeians” the young man’s arrogant words were quite irritating to my ears...

”And you must be Dante.” His attention finally turned towards me, the jealousy, shock and brief apprehension that flashed past his eyes when he saw my towering form was pure dopamine to my system..

Even though the young man was quite tall, standing at an impressive 6’3, with an impressive build.

Standing before my massive shadow casting frame would intimidate anyone of my peers, it didn’t matter how arrogant they were..

”Heh.. other than your looks, there’s nothing else that’s impressive about you” the jealousy in his voice was practically dripping at this point..

”I can smell the jealousy off of you, you should really change perfumes, desperation quite frankly irritates my nostrils”...

That wiped the smile from his face, his expression taking on that scowling look I enjoyed very much..

”Who do you think you are? Do you know who I am?”..

”Ahh... there’s that classic third rate villain propaganda.. I wonder where I’ve heard that before” i muttered audibly for everyone to hear, my gaze shooting briefly towards Micheal who had been as silent as mouse, trying to make his presence as unnoticeable as possible..

”Let me guess” I answered clearly this time..

”Thaddeus Calder, young master and son of the glorious Calder family, born with a golden spoon up his ass, never heard a ”no” all his pampered life, made to believe he is some hotshot without ever facing true hardship, now parades around feeling like hot shit after being chosen as the tower’s bitch fit”..

”Don’t tell me you actually believe in that delusional head of yours that you deserve those points, even I myself aren’t that delusional, and I assure you, I’m quite the egotistical persona myself..”

The way his face morphed into one of pure rage sent a dosage of satisfaction through my body..

It seemed going off on someone with words was just as enjoyable as doing so with fists..

”You dare!!!!!!” A fist came rocketing towards my face before I could get the satisfaction out my system, the whole world seemed to move in slow motion..

”Okay I take it back” a slow predatory smile curled up my lips as I responded with my own punch, I struck later, but my punch landed first..

Craaaackkkk....

The sound of breaking bones intertwined with the crowd’s still incessant booing chants, their anger still not quelled..

”Yea, the satisfaction of caving in someone’s face with your fists definitely beats anything else” I sighed in euphoria, my gaze shifting to the frozen figure standing in the position I’d just displaced the arrogant young master from...

”Now would be a very good time to get your shot in, Micheal”..

The dumb guy just stood still, petrified, the previously arrogant and budding confidence he’d shown earlier promptly being wiped from his face.

His expression finally returning to what it should always be in my presence.

Dread. Fear. Inferiority. The only things he should ever be allowed to feel before me...

”How dare you!!!!!” The temperature rose dramatically as a very irate whats-his-name finally pulled himself up, the caved in jaw visibly recovering, a terrifying aura emanating from his body..

I’d recognize that aura anywhere, I’d just used that form not long ago..

”Solar empowerment huh?”.

”You’ll pay for that.” He flexed his muscle, cracked his fist, yet before the tension could escalate further..

”Enough!!”

An authoritative voice silenced everyone, me, Thaddeus, the outraged crowd.

Everyone stopped whatever it is they were doing, attention snapping toward Valen’s figure..

”How dare you besmirch the tower’s prestige” his authoritative voice was hard, harsh even..

”Is the tower something the likes of you or any of us for that matter can judge? The results are out, the matter ends here.”with that he silenced any sounds of discontent..

I found it weird that he’d only just now tried defending the tower, considering the fact that he’d been conveniently quiet all this while..

”This isn’t over, plebeian, I will make sure you pay for this insult tenfold” leaving behind scalding threats that went through one ear and right out the other, what’s-his-name, turned around with a flourish and sauntered off with false charisma..

”Hmm.. just when I was getting excited too” I couldn’t help muttering in disappointment..

”You should be careful” the soft voice of Michell pulled my attention towards her..

”Thaddeus can be very vengeful and the fact that he has a very powerful background just makes him that much more dangerous” she warned gently..

”Nothing but a spoiled little man..” I replied offhandedly, barely taking the empty threats to heart..

”You should really be more concerned” she seems particularly concerned..

”Hmm? And why’s that?” I couldn’t help asking..

”He’s related to the Imperial family, you know, the one that rules the entire eastern domain”..

”Ohh..” was all she could get from me..

I really didn’t care if he was the son of god himself, if he crossed any lines he wasn’t supposed to, he’d be getting a first class ticket to meet his very maker...

********

The scores reveal continued uninterrupted after that though I barely spared the reactions any more attention..

Michell seemed to have lost interest in the proceedings as well..

The jubilation of those who won and the woeful weeping of those who lost having long lost any form of appeal, and so, we stayed silent until the last of the disqualified participants left the platform, leaving exactly one thousand candidates...

I swept my eyes gently over the currently gathered candidates, these were supposedly to be my competition, and truthfully? I was less than thrilled...

The strongest among them seemed to be the tantrum throwing delusional fool from earlier, and that bum wasn’t even qualified to make me break a sweat, so I was once again feeling underwhelmed..

I could only hope that the final selections would be a bit more challenging than this, because if it had anything to do with a tournament, then I was sure as hell going to perish from overwhelming boredom..

”Alright everyone, the journey to the imperial city is going to be long, we’ll be needing three days to reach it by flight, so we depart immediately”...

The words IMPERIAL CITY, sent a fresh wave of excitement through he gathered candidates, it was clear that for many, this would be their first time appearing at the very heart of the eastern domain..

The moment his words landed, a massive flying vessel appeared in the sky, The Solar Galleon, its slick surface reflecting the sun light, it whirled softly as it came to position itself above us, a beam shooting down softly, transporting the participants onboard..

I promptly made myself scarce..

No way was I getting on a freaking frisbee when there was a real life griffon jusy lying around, doing nothing..

The moment the last of the candidates were on board, I heard the oh so familiar screeching I’d come to enjoy grace my ears..

”My ride’s here.. what perfect timing”
