Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension

Chapter 65: Chapter 64:Marshy Swamp..

Crashhh!!!!

The crashing of a plate resounded as a young man, 17 or 18 of age jumped in pure excitement, his unblinking gaze staring holes through his screen..

”Kenan!!”

A shout from the kitchen snapped him out of his stupor..

”Sorry mom!” The young man laughed cheekily , scratching his cheeks in embarrassment..

”Jeez, what’s gotten into you?” The female voice sounded once more, a beautiful middle aged woman appearing from the adjacent kitchen..

”Mom! It’s the Academy trials, this year’s trials are fire!!!” The youth got excited once again..

”Didn’t they just start? What could possibly be exciting by this time?” The woman was skeptical..

”Look mom!!! It’s this guy, Dante’s his name, he just leveled his entire testing ground and boss grade monsters with a single punch!!!” The more he spoke, the more excited the youth got as he shoved his mother’s face towards the screen..

Dante’s punching posture still clear, the ruin and devastation only adding to his allure..

The woman blushed, not immune to Dante’s devastating beauty, ”kenan, calm.. calm down..” she struggled out of her son’s grasp, the disbelief in her eyes still haven’t faded..

”See?? He’s awesome ! The trials just started but he’s already heads and shoulders above everyone”

”Sigh....” The youth sighed..

”What’s wrong son?” The woman asked..

”Nothing.. it’s just, you could’ve given birth to me a year or two earlier, that way I’d be able to attend Aeternum or at least take the trials with such a freak. Now I’ll have to settle for some mediocre academy since they won’t be recruiting for another 5 years..” the youth explained in a downcast manner..

Thump!!!!

”Owwwww!!! Mom!!”

”Talk about me giving birth to you earlier one more time and watch me make sure you don’t awaken next year, you brat..”

”Hehehe...”

.....

It wasn’t only within this household that people were loosing their minds...

The ease with which Dante had obliterated the hobgoblins together with the devastated state of his test area, had left the general public shocked..

Most had already started considering him the uncontested number 1..

Back at the Solarium Spire...

”Where’s that guy that said it was just a fluke.. come out!! I dare you!!”

A voice shouted instantly, searching for the loudmouth that claimed Dante’s run was a fluke..

The audience was abuzz in pure thrill..

”He obliterated those monsters with one fucking punch!!”

”Hell, the first mutated creatures the tower spawned ended up being nothing but fodder..”

”Damn.. doesn’t this mean that this guy is basically invincible in the E-ranks?”

That statement made people draw in a cold breath..

They didn’t know what was happening within the other supreme city testing cites but they adamantly believed no one could come close to the ease with which Dante was blitzing this trial...

One might call it ignorance or naïveté since there were ”monsters” beyond comprehension out there, but right here, right now, all that mattered to the people was...

”DANTE!!!!”

”DANTE..DANTE...DANTE!!!”

Nobody knows who started it, but the chants of his name spread like wildfire..

Within moments, the entirety of the solarium audience was chanting Dante’s name..

Valen Wildeheart shook his head wryly at the display..

”Like father like son. I guess such charisma runs in the family”

He thought melancholically, his eyes returning to the screen now focusing solely on Dante within the ruined landscape.

”Show me that your words earlier weren’t just bravado...”

Meanwhile....

{You have slain: [BOSS] x5..

You have received 50exp...

{You have slain: mutated creatures with a [MAJOR] mutation...+250exp...

....

”Shit, it’s still the same nonsense even with boss grade monsters?” I’d expected that, but still, seeing the same shit repeat itself even when I’d just taken down Boss grade monsters was quite depressing...

There’s a reason I was blitzing these trials as fast as I was, other than the fact that I was just operating on a different level than anyone or anything here..

I’d also not bothered myself with devouring anything.

It’s not that I didn’t want to, it’s just that there wasn’t a need or point in doing so..

The first and last time I did so, this popped up..

>

>

That’s it, after devouring a multitude of monsters, that’s all I got for my efforts..

When I asked my system why?

[The creatures within this trial dungeon are not displaying strength of their own capacities, they’re merely a projection of the real thing]

What that meant was, the abilities and strengths of the monsters were as real as real can get, but once they die, all that they had would return back to its source, that being whatever was projecting itself through these monsters..

As for what that was? It’s a no brainer, after all this place was modeled as a prototype of the tower of ascension, so it’s only natural that whatever one faced here was merely a projection of the true tower..

That fact got me even more excited to get into Aeternum, that way I could have proper access to get into the real tower, that should be more of a challenge than whatever this makeshift tower had for me...

”Alright then, enough moping around, let’s get things moving”.

Saying so, I willed myself to be teleported to the next floor..

With another flash of light,I found my feet sinking slightly into damp soil..

As I slowly came too, I realized where I’d spawned this time around..

Tall, swaying reeds and cattails rose from the water’s edge, dancing in the gentle breeze.

Clusters of brightly colored carnivorous plants punctuate the landscape, their petals wide open, attracting unsuspecting insects.

The ground I was slowly sinking into was a mix of squishy mud and moss, squelching beneath each step, with patches of stagnant pools reflecting the overcast sky.

Gnarled roots snake above and below the surface, intertwining with the vibrant foliage and creating a natural labyrinth.

Winding streams of dark, murky water flow sluggishly, intertwined with small ponds that mirror the deep greens and browns of the surrounding flora.

Murky shallows bubble occasionally, hinting at the presence of unseen creatures lurking beneath the surface.

The air was alive with sounds: the croaks of frogs, the rustling of unseen critters, and the gentle ripple of water as fish break the surface.

Birds with vibrant plumage flit between branches, their calls echoing a chorus that resonates through the drooping foliage.

The scent of damp earth mixes with the sweet aroma of blooming wildflowers, alongside a hint of decay from the rich organic matter of the swamp..

From my vantage point I could see, Perched on platforms made from bundled reeds and mud, what one could consider huts of some kind among the trees, adorned with intricate carvings that gave away the identity of their inhabitants, and if that wasn’t enough, the current group of lizardmen that spawned before me cleared up any doubt..

I looked around, I’d already been surrounded..

I wasn’t in any hurry, deciding first to study my next victims.

[Elite]

[Elite]

.....

[Elite]...

The tower seemed to be starting to take me seriously after my rampage on the lower floors...

Elite monsters right off the bat, on the 11th floor too..

Credit to them, These creatures moved with a fluid grace, camouflaging themselves among the foliage as they stayed alert to any movements from me, their scales shimmering subtly in the muted light.

The darting dragonflies hovering above the water, the eerie silhouettes of large, lumbering beasts trudging through the underbrush gave this place an ambience of life the lower floors didn’t seem to have..

”Heh.. seems I’ve spawned within another Fantasy favorite..”

I smiled, a predatory grin curling my lips..

”Time to hunt some overgrown lizards”...
