The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 499: Chapter 499: The Fastest Way

In fact, this made it easier to cultivate local agents, allowing Hua Country to see the benefits of reform and opening up. This, in turn, would encourage the cautious nation to open more sectors.

When that time came, their American capital could not only exploit Hua Country’s vast labor force but also unscrupulously control and influence the nation by seizing key industries.

Therefore, Shencheng’s prosperity was something these people were happy to see.

They didn’t try to stop Catherine from helping to provide proof; in fact, they were happy to see it happen.

It would leave a good impression on the local capitalists, paving the way for future cooperation.

They had investigated Han Xiaorui and found her to be an extraordinary woman. Perhaps there would be a real opportunity to work with her in the future.

With all preparations complete, Yang Zhigang’s visa was approved.

Although Yang Zhigang was anxious, having so many people helping him gave him more confidence.

Yang Jianguo had originally planned to go with him, but Yang Zhigang stopped him. ”Jianguo, if you come with me, it’ll be too hard on Cuicui, being home alone with three children.”

”Besides, you’re very busy with your work. We can’t just push everything onto Han Xiaorui’s shoulders. I’ll feel more at ease if you stay home.”

”But, Uncle...” Yang Jianguo said, worried.

Just then, Ye Feng came in. ”Uncle Yang, I’ll go with you. I have business over there, so I was planning a trip anyway. We can look out for each other.”

Hearing this, Yang Zhigang quickly thanked him. ”Ye Feng, thank you so much.”

Ye Feng smiled. ”No need to thank me. I was already planning to go. My grandfather and I need to familiarize ourselves with some business operations there. He’s retiring soon, and I’ll be taking over the Xu family’s business completely.”

Ye Feng had decided this after discussing it with Han Xiaorui.

Since it was on his way, it would at least put Yang Zhigang’s mind at ease.

Chen Nanyang had already obtained his license to practice international law, qualifying him to handle international cases.

This time, he would also accompany Yang Zhigang, meet up with the lawyer Xu Yingying had introduced, and collaborate with them on the case.

With Ye Feng and Chen Nanyang accompanying him on the journey, Yang Zhigang felt reassured.

For this trip, Yang Zhigang had converted all his savings into US Dollars. If it wasn’t enough, he would borrow from Ye Feng.

This time, he was determined to give it his all.

After seeing them off at the airport, Han Xiaorui encouraged Yang Zhigang. ”Uncle Yang, good people are always rewarded. I’ve always thought you were a good man, and even Zhang Lili now thinks you’re a kind, respectable person. Just do your best, and everything will be alright.”

Yang Zhigang nodded. ”Yes, I believe that too. If I do my best, everything can get better!”

After a long journey, they finally arrived in the United States.

After meeting with the local lawyer, they learned he had obtained evidence that the two children were being abused by their nanny.

Yang Jianming only provided money for living expenses and the nanny’s fees but rarely visited.

The nanny grew lax and didn’t take proper care of the two children.

At the nanny’s house, they were fed the leftovers from the nanny’s own children and were frequently beaten and verbally abused.

When he saw the photos, Yang Zhigang trembled with rage.

The two children had black hair and brown eyes. They looked a bit like Yang Jianming, and also like their mother, Linda.

With their delicate features and oval faces, they were a pair of very beautiful little girls, just over a year old.

After consulting with each other, the two lawyers explained the best course of action to Yang Zhigang. ”Uncle Yang, if we file a lawsuit and Yang Jianming refuses to give up custody, it could drag on for a very long time. Of course, we would most likely win, but the whole process could be very drawn out. Sometimes, it can take a year, or even several years.”

Hearing this, Yang Zhigang grew frantic. ”My granddaughters are living in such terrible conditions right now. The sooner this is resolved, the better. Isn’t there any other way?”

”There is!” Chen Nanyang replied. ”We negotiate directly with Yang Jianming! Get him to voluntarily give up his custody rights.”

Yang Zhigang shook his head. ”Yang Jianming has his eyes on the children’s inheritance; otherwise, he would have sent them back to Hua Country long ago. I doubt he’ll give up if I try to negotiate with him.”

Chen Nanyang smiled. ”Times have changed. Back in Hua Country, we were helpless, but here in a foreign country, we have control of sufficient evidence. In any case, we can win this case. It’s just a matter of time.”

”Yang Jianming is currently dating a rich heiress. He surely doesn’t want to get involved in a lawsuit, especially one that could ruin his reputation. Besides, Yang Jianming doesn’t lack money right now, but he lacks status. This heiress is his ticket to climbing the social ladder.”

Hearing this, Yang Zhigang understood.

He gritted his teeth. ’That bastard!’ ”Alright, then. Let’s go find Yang Jianming.”

When Yang Jianming saw his own father appear before him, he instinctively took two steps back.

But Yang Zhigang was faster. He lashed out with two quick kicks, sending Yang Jianming sprawling to the ground.

He hadn’t lost the skills from his days as a scout in the Sharp Knife Company. Kicked by his own father, Yang Jianming fell to the ground, groaning in pain.

A blonde, blue-eyed woman rushed out of the house. ”Who are you? Why are you hitting my fiancé? I’m calling the police to have you thrown in jail!”

Yang Zhigang answered directly, ”He’s my son. I’m just disciplining him!”

’Even though I want to cut ties with him, blood is something you can’t change.’

Chen Nanyang translated from the side, ”They’re father and son. They have some conflicts and need to speak privately.”

Just then, Yang Jianming scrambled up from the ground and nodded to his fiancée. ”Rice, he is indeed my father. We have some things to discuss, so please go back inside. We’ll be done soon.”

Seeing Yang Jianming say this, Rice agreed. ”Alright. If you’re threatened, you have to shout. I’ll call the police.”

”Thank you, darling,” Yang Jianming said gratefully, giving Rice a light kiss on the cheek.

Seeing the scantily clad Rice, Yang Zhigang cursed, ”Shameless!”

Hearing this, the corner of Yang Jianming’s mouth twitched. ”Dad, you’re so old-fashioned. This is the United States, not Hua Country. Dad, I know you’re furious, but I truly never expected Mom to die in that fire. Even if I were a monster, I wouldn’t have done something like that.”

Yang Jianming spoke while glancing around.

Yang Jianming had a good memory. He not only recognized Ye Feng, but also Chen Nanyang, the lawyer.

Yang Zhigang said, ”The police ruled those matters an accident, and I don’t have the power to overturn their findings. But you left your two daughters in the care of a nanny. They were abused. We’ve already reported it to the police, and the nanny has been arrested.”

”What?!” Yang Jianming exclaimed in shock. ”Impossible! I paid for a nanny. How could she dare abuse the children? By the way, how are the kids now?”

Yang Zhigang said coldly, ”The children are being well taken care of now. I came here to tell you to give me custody of them so I can take them back to Hua Country.”

”Impossible!” Yang Jianming refused outright. With so much inheritance tied to his two daughters, how could he possibly let them go?
