The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 492: Chapter 492: Criticized by an Elementary School Teacher

Local officials also gathered around. They, too, started pulling farmed prawns out of the shrimp traps.

”My goodness, to be able to raise prawns this big in just four months is truly amazing! The people of our Northwest Region will be able to eat fresh seafood too!”

”Yes, I only ever had seafood once before, back when I was in the Eastern Region for studies and meetings! The taste was truly unforgettable! I never thought we could farm seafood in the inland Northwest. Thank you to the experts from Shencheng for sharing your technology with us.”

Professor Xie smiled. ”East-west exchanges, cooperation, and mutual support—this is national policy. The goal is for everyone to live better lives, and it is our honor to be a part of it.”

”Over there, we’re also farming lobsters, tilapia, and salmon, as well as crabs! We’ll be harvesting them one after another later on, enriching the variety of seafood and giving people more choices.”

Led by Professor Xie and Mr. Huo, the group toured the entire aquaculture base.

Those local officials who had originally doubted Huo Guang were now completely convinced.

One of Professor Xie’s students was an excellent seafood cook, so he prepared a special seafood feast for everyone to try.

”Many of you probably haven’t eaten much seafood, and some people can be allergic to it. Please start with a small amount. If you don’t have a reaction, it means you’re not allergic, and then you can eat more.”

Allergies are no laughing matter, so everyone took Professor Xie’s advice very seriously.

After eating a little, they waited about ten-odd minutes, and only continued eating the seafood once they had no reaction.

Huo Guang wasn’t allergic to seafood at all and began to feast.

One of the women was allergic to seafood and could only watch helplessly as the others ate, her mouth watering.

The pilot farming project here had already yielded great results.

Huo Guang sent samples of the farmed seafood to various departments, explaining the benefits and costs of their aquaculture, which sparked widespread discussion.

Consequently, leaders from all levels in the New Autonomous Region began organizing an inspection delegation to visit Shencheng.

As the initiator of the seafood farming project and the one who had contributed the most, Huo Guang was also part of the delegation.

Shencheng had developed very rapidly in recent years. Huo Guang had visited last year, but coming back again this year, he still felt it had changed dramatically.

It had only been one year, but the earth-shattering changes left Huo Guang in awe.

The Shencheng maritime authorities arranged for their reception, and the delegation’s tour focused on Jinshan Bay.

Development in Jinshan Bay had been quite rapid, and its infrastructure was also well-developed.

The aquarium, the water park, the museum, and the commercial street were all part of their tour.

Of course, they also bought many local handicrafts to take back as gifts.

Afterward, they focused on touring the Jinshan Bay seafood farming and fry breeding bases.

This was the main focus of their work; they couldn’t come all this way just to get their priorities mixed up.

With Professor Xie’s introductions, more experts there were willing to provide professional technical support.

Seeing the scale of Jinshan Bay’s seafood farming, its scientific and modular cultivation methods, the astonishing output, and the excellent taste, the officials were deeply impressed.

With the technical assurances from Professor Xie and other relevant experts, these officials were all determined to expand their farming operations.

Back in their home region, it wouldn’t matter even if the costs were a bit higher.

The most important thing was to be able to farm something delicious and nutritious. No matter how expensive it was, people would eat it, and people would buy it.

Huo Guang learned that Shencheng’s police dogs were excellent, so he also arranged for a donation of some dogs as a gesture of friendly assistance.

Currently, while the country is developing the East, it also provides what help it can to the West. After the relevant local government departments in Shencheng considered the request, they agreed.

The entire inspection tour lasted 10 days, and it was almost September.

When it was time for Huo Guang to leave, he took his son, Huo Ze, back with him.

His son was having so much fun here he’d forgotten all about home. Huo Guang worried that if he didn’t come to get him, his son wouldn’t want to go back.

When they returned, they were carrying bags of all sizes, filled with lots of dried seafood.

It wasn’t just Huo Guang and his son; the other delegates on the tour also bought a lot, spending nearly all the money they had on them.

Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui bought plane tickets for Ye Chen and Ye Ling, and Xiao Zheng escorted them back to Beijing.

”You’re both grown up now. When you get back, make sure you manage your studies and your lives well! Don’t make the adults worry. Of course, if you run into any trouble, or have something on your mind that you don’t want to tell your parents, you can always write to me.”

”I’m your sister-in-law, and Ye Feng is your big brother. We’re all family, and we have a duty to help you. So don’t be strangers, okay?”

Even though the house was always a bit chaotic with so many kids, this was the warmth and bustle of a real home.

Han Xiaorui never minded it; in fact, she thought it was wonderful.

This summer vacation, her two daughters had made huge progress under the guidance of their young uncles.

During a group simulation class at the hospital, Expert Wang concluded on the spot that they were perfectly ready to start school.

Han Xiaorui and Liang Xiaoyu, the two families in a grand procession, took Pingping and An’an, along with Cai Wenjun, to register at Jinshan Bay Primary School.

They wore white shirts, blue suspender shorts, red scarves, and little backpacks, their hair in two pigtails.

The sisters Pingping and An’an walked to school hand in hand, singing a song.

Ye Feng had taken the day off work specifically to go with Han Xiaorui.

Pingping, An’an, and Cai Wenjun answered the teacher’s questions and were successfully enrolled.

From this day forward, they were official primary school students.

At first, Han Xiaorui was worried they wouldn’t be able to adapt, so she secretly peeked through the window to watch them.

Although they still got distracted often, their teachers would promptly remind them, and they would quickly refocus.

This happened several times during one class, but for the entire forty-five minutes, the children managed to stay seated without wandering around.

But you couldn’t expect a first-grade classroom to be perfectly quiet; it was bound to be chaotic.

When Han Xiaorui expressed her concerns, the teacher comforted her in return, ”You don’t need to worry about this. You brought your children to us, so we are committed to teaching them.”

”They’re called ’children’ for a reason—not just because they’re young, but because their understanding is still developing. Slowly but surely, they’ll adapt. We’ll tailor our teaching to each child’s needs.”

”Right now, there are 45 students in a class. The classroom is spacious and bright, so we can manage them. If children get mischievous and squabble, we will handle it promptly and fairly.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”It’s mainly Pingping and An’an, and Wenjun. They aren’t like other children!”

Hearing this, Teacher Wen was not pleased. ”Pingping and An’an’s mother, I have to correct you on that! While I know they’ve had special education before, in my classroom, and from my own observation, I see them as normal children.”

”From now on, I don’t want to hear you say your children are different from the others! They can clearly express their thoughts, sit still for forty-five minutes, write their own names, recognize hundreds of characters, do addition and subtraction from 1 to 10, raise their hands when they have a question, and use the restroom independently.”

”They might not be the smartest children, but for their age, they are more than capable! I expect you to treat them as equals. If you keep treating them differently, you’ll just be sending them the message that they really are different from everyone else.”
