The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 480: Chapter 480: Refusing to Leave

Huo Guang waved his hand. ”There’s really no need. Huo Ze is having so much fun. Are you really going to take him away now? He’s been so well-behaved these past few days, studying and doing his homework with the Ye brothers.”

”Let him stay a bit longer. Maybe he’ll develop some good habits here, and you won’t have to get dizzy with anger nagging him to do homework.”

Chen Min nodded. ”Alright, we’ll stay for another week, then we’ll come find you.”

Huo Guang was no longer in the mood to vacation here; he was eager to throw himself into his work.

Of course, Han Xiaorui had also promised Professor Xie and Huo Guang that she would definitely provide them with some fish fry.

This was another reason why Huo Guang and Professor Xie wanted to head over as soon as possible.

The Jinshan Bay fish fry breeding base only had fry available during this period.

In another half a month, the fish fry would be sold out. The remainder would be kept for the Jinshan Bay seafood farm to raise.

Time was tight, and even just excavating or analyzing the two small lakes would take a considerable amount of time.

After Huo Guang left, Chen Min couldn’t get into the mood to have fun.

After staying for another five days, she prepared to leave.

But Huo Ze loved it here and had people to play with. ”Mom, can’t you just let me stay here?”

Chen Min looked embarrassed. Although she was very familiar with Ye Feng, she didn’t actually know Han Xiaorui very well.

They had already been staying for nearly two weeks, which was a huge imposition on Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui.

”Let’s go back first, and I’ll bring you back to play next year!” Chen Min began to coax him, figuring she would just get him to leave for now and worry about the rest later.

Huo Ze clearly wasn’t falling for it. ”I don’t agree! You’re just trying to fool me, tricking me into leaving!”

Chen Min’s expression grew awkward. ”We’ve been guests for a very long time; we can’t impose for too long. Besides, your dad is already at his new job, all alone and far from home, working so hard. Don’t you feel bad for your dad?”

Huo Ze scratched his head. ”I do feel bad for him! But once summer vacation is over, I’ll be going to school over there, so I’ll have plenty of time to spend with Dad. But I only have the summer vacation to play here in Shencheng.”

The child had grown up and was especially good at reasoning, leaving Chen Min speechless.

Chen Min wanted to leave her child here but was afraid of bothering Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng too much.

But no matter what Chen Min said, Huo Ze simply refused to leave.

Seeing Chen Min chasing a yelping Huo Ze all over the place, Ye Feng finally spoke up. ”If you’re worried about Huo Guang, you should go join him.”

”You can leave Xiao Liu here. He can look after Huo Ze and ensure his safety. That way, you can go without worrying. When it’s almost the end of summer vacation, I’ll buy their plane tickets and send them directly to you!”

Hearing this, Chen Min gave a sheepish smile. ”Brother Ye, that would be too much trouble for you and your wife!”

Ye Feng rolled his eyes. ”And what if I didn’t agree? Am I supposed to just stand by and watch you chase Huo Ze around while he screams his head off?”

”Besides, Ye Ling and Ye Chen are here. They’ve known each other since they were little and get along well. Just let them play together and keep each other company.”

Chen Min chuckled. ”Thanks so much, Brother Ye.”

And so, Chen Min went shopping with peace of mind, buying lots of nice clothes and many types of dried seafood.

She mailed one portion to her parents-in-law and another to Huo Guang’s workplace.

She took a plane to join him, and by the time she arrived, the packages might not have even gotten there yet.

Just like that, Chen Min entrusted her son to the bodyguard, Xiao Liu, and left on a plane.

Han Xiaorui was quite shocked. ”This Chen Min is really something else.”

Ye Feng laughed. ”Haha, Chen Min really is something else. Back when Huo Guang enlisted in the army, she traveled for days and nights on a train to visit him, all while heavily pregnant.”

”Her family was scared to death. It was Huo Guang who had to send a telegram home to tell them. His company commander gave him special permission to escort Chen Min back. But, despite all their bickering over the years, Chen Min and Huo Guang have a very good relationship.”

”Xiao Liu is here, so he’ll protect Huo Ze’s safety. We’ll just treat him like one of our own, like Ye Ling and Ye Chen. Besides, what’s one more? It’s just a matter of setting one more place at the table.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui smiled. ”That’s true. Our house has pretty much become a kids’ den. But it’s definitely lively.”

More children were certainly noisy.

But there were also many benefits. The two little ones, Ningning and Zhuangzhuang, were doted on every day by the older children in the house, which made them particularly bright.

As long as the older kids were around, they never cried, and they’d loved playing with bigger kids since they were tiny.

Their little mouths were constantly drooling, but they were also babbling away, as if desperate to start talking.

’This is different from how Pingping and An’an were when they were little. I just hope Ningning and Zhuangzhuang don’t have delayed speech development.’

But thankfully, everything was heading in a good direction.

「Half a month later」 Han Xiaorui received a call from Huo Guang and Professor Xie, so she had a batch of fish fry air-freighted to them.

After Huo Guang arrived, the first thing he did was find several saline-alkali lakes and, following Professor Xie’s advice, excavate six experimental farming sites.

After consulting a great deal of geographical and climate data, they initially decided to farm lobster, prawns, salmon, and crabs.

Coincidentally, aside from the salmon fry, the prawns and crabs were new varieties that the Jinshan Bay breeding base had added just this year.

Chen Min and Huo Guang were very grateful to Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui for hosting their son, so they mailed Han Xiaorui a large quantity of jujubes and raisins.

And wow, those jujubes were really sweet!

The raisins were huge, and they tasted great, too.

They had a wonderful sweet and sour flavor.

However, Han Xiaorui always washed them in water before eating.

’Even the cleanest raisins have dust on them.’

Ye Ling, Ye Chen, and Huo Ze spent a very fun and relaxing summer vacation at Jinshan Bay.

Under the influence of Ye Chen and Ye Ling, Huo Ze actually finished his summer homework.

When he got stuck on something, Ye Ling would explain it to him.

Not only that, but he also studied ahead for his new classes.

On August 26th, Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui sent them off on their respective flights to Beijing and the New Autonomous Region.

This summer vacation had been filled with the simple, lively joys of everyday life.

Once school started, the boatmen began counting the days on their fingers. There were only twenty days until the fishing season opened.

Many of them stopped doing odd jobs. They began physical training, building up their strength and energy to be ready to go all out with gusto once the season began.

Although everyone’s salary and commission were fixed, their bonuses were not.

If you were diligent and did more work, the captain would notice, and your bonus would be bigger.

More than that, it was a matter of honor.

At the end of the year, they would be recognized at the Xu Group’s general assembly.

Elementary school students want award certificates and little red flowers.

Adults who work want award certificates and big red flowers.

This was a kind of romantic, lifelong pursuit unique to the people of Hua Country.

Han Xiaorui’s attention, however, was on her children. Ningning and Zhuangzhuang were turning one.

Originally, she had just planned on inviting her own family for a meal to celebrate the children’s birthday.

But unexpectedly, the boatmen and the key personnel from all the various companies wanted to come.

Ye Feng was the general manager of the Xu Group, and the executives under him all kept it in mind. People were constantly asking Ye Feng, ”When’s the first birthday celebration?”

In the end, Mr. Xu and Old Madam Xu made the final decision: they would hold a proper first-birthday celebration for the children.
