The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 491: Chapter 491: Acceptance Inspection of the Saline-Alkali Land Farming

Expert Wang looked at Yang Pingping and Yang An’an, who were dressed in pink tulle skirts. Their big, dark eyes were incredibly bright and lively. They had fair skin and cute, upturned noses.

’They’re little beauties now, and they’ll be great beauties in the future.’

’It doesn’t matter if they aren’t brilliant. As long as they listen to their parents, they’ll live a life free of want, a life of peace and happiness.’

”They definitely will,” Expert Wang said with a gratified smile.

Cai Wenjun resembled his father, Cai Xueqin. From his features, face shape, and build, he was a handsome little boy now and would be a handsome man in the future.

Expert Wang also affirmed Cai Wenjun’s recovery, noting that he was now within the normal range. However, they still needed to pay attention to his development, strengthening his language, motor, and concentration skills.

Han Xiaorui asked, ”Expert Wang, when school starts in September, will Pingping, An’an, and Wenjun be able to attend?”

Expert Wang thought for a moment. ”This summer, I’m offering a group course with a simulated classroom environment. If you want to enroll the children, you can bring them over.”

”We’ll enroll them!” Han Xiaorui replied immediately. They had cars, nannies, a driver, and even bodyguards at home, so they could easily transport the children back and forth for classes.

Liang Xiaoyu also chimed in, ”Expert Wang, we’ll enroll him too. As long as our son can attend school normally, it’s not that important whether his grades are good or not.”

Expert Wang knew both families had the financial means to afford it. Even if they lived far away, they could overcome the distance.

”Alright, then you can start bringing them to class tomorrow. Classes are from Monday to Friday, in both the morning and the afternoon.”

Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Okay, we’ll sign up today and come to class tomorrow.”

They registered for the course, paid the fee, and were given a card.

After each class, the teacher would cross off a space on the card to keep track.

Liang Xiaoyu thought for a moment and said, ”I have a house nearby. I’ll come over tomorrow morning, buy groceries, and cook lunch. Pingping and An’an can nap there in the afternoon.”

Han Xiaorui thought about it and shook her head. ”Your house is too small. Let’s use my place instead. It’s not far from the hospital, a two-story house! It’s already renovated. I was planning to rent it out, but I won’t now.”

”Tomorrow, with the driver, Wu Jiao, you, and the three kids, one minivan will be enough. You can take the children to rest upstairs, and the driver can rest downstairs.”

Liang Xiaoyu didn’t argue with Han Xiaorui, because her house was indeed small. Han Xiaorui’s place was bigger, and being two stories made it more convenient. Crucially, it also had a small kitchen.

”Alright. It’s the fishing off-season right now, so I’m free. I’ll be in charge of cooking for the kids and looking after them with Wu Jiao. Xiao Rui, you’re busy with work, so don’t you worry about it.”

Han Xiaorui smiled. ”Thank you so much, Sister-in-law Xiao Yu. It’ll be a lot of work, but our children are normal now. That’s better than anything.”

”Yes, that’s what I think too.” Liang Xiaoyu smiled and wiped away a tear. ”It’s such a huge change from three years ago.”

’Even if my son can’t get into university or learn any of those advanced, high-tech skills, it’s okay. He can learn to cook and make pastries from his grandmother.’

’With a skill in hand, he’ll always be able to make a living.’

’Besides, he has company shares now, and the family has shops and businesses. We have a solid foundation, so my son will be fine in the future.’

Cai Xueqin walked over to a tree to have a smoke.

Ye Feng came over. Cai Xueqin quickly wiped his face, rubbing away his tears. ”Ye Feng, want a smoke?”

”Thanks.” Ye Feng took a cigarette.

Cai Xueqin quickly took out a lighter and lit it for Ye Feng. ”Seeing Wenjun’s recovery now, I realize just how foolish I was back then. I always used the excuse that I was busy with work, and I was even reluctant because it cost so much.”

”Xiao Yu yelling at me, my mom hitting me... they were right to do it. Thinking back now, thank goodness I listened to Xiao Yu. Otherwise, my only son would have been ruined.”

Ye Feng chuckled. ”To err is human, right? It’s good that you can recognize your own mistakes. At least you’re seeing Sister-in-law Xiao Yu’s efforts instead of ignoring them.”

Cai Xueqin nodded. ”You can see the improvement in the kid, how could I ignore it? Besides, he’s my son. I care about him too. From now on, I’m going to work hard and make money—save up a dowry for my daughter and build up a family fortune for my son.”

”And for this family, I’m letting Xiao Yu be in charge. I’ll give her all the money I earn. I’m not as smart as her, and I don’t have her foresight. Our family’s life keeps getting better and better, and it’s really all thanks to my mom and Xiao Yu. It feels like my dad and I are just freeloading.”

Ye Feng almost burst out laughing, managing to hold it back just in time to avoid being rude. ”Don’t say that, Brother Cai. You’re doing fine. Sister-in-law Xiao Yu hasn’t said anything, so there’s no need to put yourself down. If you feel you fell short in the past, just treat Sister-in-law Xiao Yu even better from now on.”

Cai Xueqin thought for a moment. ”You’re right. We’re husband and wife. I’ll treat her even better from now on.”

They didn’t rush back. Instead, they bought some supplies to get the house ready.

Liang Xiaoyu would buy the few remaining odds and ends tomorrow and bring them over then.

Summer vacation had started, but Pingping, An’an, and Wenjun still had to go to class.

It was a complete simulation of elementary school: four classes in the morning, a three-hour break for lunch, and then two more classes to end the day.

It was a bit demanding, but very necessary.

Fortunately, once they got home, they weren’t forced to study anymore and could run around and play with their friends in the village.

Liang Xiaoyu came up with all sorts of new recipes to make delicious food for the children.

Han Xiaorui offered her money, but Liang Xiaoyu refused to take it.

When she offered again, Liang Xiaoyu nearly got angry, so Han Xiaorui finally dropped it.

The two brothers, Ye Ling and Ye Chen, came over again.

Ye Ling had gotten into high school, and Ye Chen had started middle school.

As soon as Pingping and An’an were done with their classes for the day, the brothers would play games with them, trying to get them to talk as much as possible.

You could see them playing all over Jinshan Bay, and they often played ball at the small plaza.

Every day, the children’s hair was damp with sweat, their eyes were bright, and they grew taller.

Huo Guang, feeling no need to stand on ceremony with Ye Feng, felt perfectly at ease leaving his son there and had his bodyguards bring the boy directly to Shencheng.

This was because Huo Ze’s grades had improved rapidly over the past year, and his only request was to come here to play during summer vacation.

As a father, Huo Guang naturally agreed.

「And so they played, all the way until mid-August.」

Far away in the New Province Autonomous Region, Huo Guang, along with local officials, Professor Xie, and his students, was extremely nervous.

Building on last year’s experience, they had brought in another batch of prawn fry this spring. After three and a half months of cultivation, the prawns were finally grown and ready for the market.

After a four-month cultivation period, it was now time to see the results.

One of Professor Xie’s students rowed a small boat out and pulled up a prawn trap. Inside, live prawns, each the size of a man’s palm, jumped about energetically.

Although they often pulled up a few for testing, they had never showcased the results of their research like this, right in front of so many local leaders.

Reaching the shore, the student, Liu, brought the trap over. ”Professor, esteemed leaders, I’ve brought up the prawn trap! Our prawn farming was a success!”

Huo Guang was thrilled. He reached into the trap and pulled out a prawn. It was well-grown, about the size of his palm. ”Everyone, come and see! We can farm seafood in our saline-alkali soil!”
