Immortal of the Nine Realms

Fang Chen ignored Yao Dan and turned to Abbess Zhu Yue. ”Abbess, who is he?”

Yao Dan’s expression changed slightly, and he cast a gloomy glance at Fang Chen, his eyes filled with killing intent.

”This person is the Grand Elder of the Qingzhou Sword Sect. He’s at the early Foundation Building Realm,” explained Abbess Zhu Yue.

”Early Foundation Building Realm?” Fang Chen was surprised. ”How can someone who’s at the Foundation Building Realm say such nonsense with a straight face?”

Abbess Zhu Yue chuckled. ”Perhaps he’s just shameless.” Naturally, these words didn’t sit well with the cultivators from the Qingzhou Sword Sect. Yao Dan’s face grew darker, and his eyes narrowed as he stared Fang Chen down.

”Who are you? Don’t you know that a man ought to be careful what comes out of his mouth? One careless slip might bring calamity upon oneself and your sect,” said Yao Dan, his words rife with threat.

”Could you be a bit more original with your threats? It’s always about killing someone or exterminating a sect. You don’t even know which sect I belong to, so how would you exterminate it?” Fang Chen replied with a smile.

Abbess Zhu Yue couldn’t help but feel amused at Yao Dan’s words. The idea of the Qingzhou Sword Sect trying to exterminate the sect behind Fang Chen was akin to an ant trying to shake a tree.

”If we want to know your origins, it won’t be difficult,” Yao Dan said menacingly, then turned to Abbess Zhu Yue. ”Cut the crap. Will you hand over the inheritance of the Purple Lightning Talisman or not? If you want to hog it all for yourselves, then no one in the Concealed Moon Hermitage will be spared today.”

Abbess Qing He’s face was aflame with anger. ”You shameless lot! The inheritance of the Purple Lightning Talisman didn’t even come from that demonic cultivator!”

Yao Dan sneered. ”My sect’s disciples won’t lie. If anyone is shameless here, it’s all of you. You’re nothing but a bunch of fame-seekers, engaging in all sorts of immoral acts.”

”Yao Dan, the Qingzhou Sword Sect hasn’t yet reached the level of covering the sky with one hand, even in the Flame Empire,” said Abbess Zhu Yue calmly. ”You’d better put an end to that wishful thinking of yours. I am giving you a chance; take your people and leave now. ”

”And what if I don’t want to?” Yao Dan smiled. ”Oh yes, I heard you went to see the Sect Leader of Spirit Void Sect and the Sect Leader of Flying Eagle Gate. You three were quite close during your youth, right?”

Abbess Zhu Yue remained silent as she stared at Yao Dan calmly.

The next second, two figures suddenly broke through the air, each standing on a bronze bell and a long spear, respectively. They landed in front of the Concealed Moon Hermitage.

Upon seeing the newcomers, Abbess Qing He and the other nuns’ expressions brightened a little.

”Lord Fang, these two are the Sect Leader of Spirit Void Sect and the Leader of Flying Eagle Gate. That guy from the Qingzhou Sword Sect won’t have a good day,” whispered Abbess Qing He.

The Sect Leader of Spirit Void Sect put away the bell and looked at Yao Dan. ”Brother Yao, why can’t we have a civilized discussion? Why resort to destroying the entrance of the Concealed Moon Hermitage?”

She was tall and slender, immediately attracting the attention of many Qingzhou Sword Sect cultivators as soon as she landed.

The Master of Flying Eagle Gate was a rugged man. He held his spear and smiled at Abbess Zhu Yue. ”Zhu Yue, hope we’re not too late.”

Abbess Zhu Yue nodded lightly. ”You’ve arrived just in time.”

Yao Dan chuckled. ”It’s not that I don’t want to be civil but she’s just too selfish. That was clearly a stroke of good fortune meant for the disciples of both sects, yet she wanted to hog it all for herself and her disciples. Who would be happy with that?”

The Sect Leader of Spirit Void Sect nodded. ”Indeed, I wouldn’t be pleased either. Let’s all sit down and figure out how we’ll distribute the Purple Lightning Talisman inheritance fairly.”

The Master of Flying Eagle Gate nodded. ”Fair distribution is key. This way, everyone will be satisfied, and we can avoid escalating the matter and letting the Southern Heavenly Sect know about it.”

Abbess Zhu Yue was taken aback. She suddenly frowned as her gaze toward the two turned solemn.

”Zhu Yue, it’s better if we settle this peacefully,” said the Sect Leader of Spirit Void Sect with a smile. “If you share the Purple Lightning Talisman inheritance with all of us, this matter will be resolved easily.”

Abbess Qing He and the other nuns were stunned. Something was not right. Weren’t these two supposed to be here to help them deal with the Qingzhou Sword Sect? Why did it seem as though they were here to snatch the inheritance too!

”Do you not realize it yet, Abbess Zhu Ye? These two are not on your side,” said Yao Dan with a smirk.

”You...” Abbess Zhu Yue’s face was frosty as she looked at the Sect Leader of Spirit Void Sect and the Master of Feiying Gate. ”How much did he offer the two of you?”

”Offer us? You think he bribed us?” The Sect Leader of Spirit Void Sect raised her eyebrows. “We’re all Foundation Building Realm cultivators,” she said. “It’s really just that, when it comes to things such as this, we must be reasonable. After all, If we can’t be reasonable... then it’ll only lead to unnecessary casualties.” She sighed softly, then continued, ”Zhu Yue, we’ve known each other for many years. I know you’re proud, but you can’t be too stubborn about this. The inheritance of the Purple Lightning Talisman is not something the Concealed Moon Hermitage can monopolize.”

”Listen to her.” the Master of Flying Eagle Gate also sighed. ”You weren’t one to heed a well-intended piece of advice in the past, but look where it led you—a damaged foundation, an opportunity lost to break through to the mid stages of the Foundation Building Realm. Do you want to repeat the mistakes of the past?”

Hearing those words, Fang Chen’s eyes drifted toward Abbess Zhu Yue, surprised. ”So her foundation was damaged....”

Abbess Zhu Yue fell into silence. After a while, she shook her head slowly. ”As I’ve said, the Purple Lightning Talisman inheritance was a gift I received. Without that person’s permission, we have no right to lay our hands on it. Even I can’t practice it. Only one of my disciples can practice it.”

Yao Dan and the others’s faces were rife with mockery. They clearly didn’t believe her. What was the inheritance of the Purple Lightning Talisman? It could be considered the cornerstone of a sect. Who would casually give such a thing to others?

”Zhu Yue, why don’t you ask them if they believe you?” said Yao Dan coldly. ”These two have already approached the matter from a perspective of fairness and justice. I hope you can show some sincerity. If the three of us join forces, we can wipe out the Concealed Moon Hermitage in an hour.”

”Zhu Yue, you weren’t like this before. You never lied in the past, but you’ve changed. Is the Purple Lightning Talisman inheritance really worth it?” The Sect Master of Spirit Void Sect frowned. ”The Concealed Moon Hermitage focuses on the heart. Lies will only hinder your progress to the mid stages of the Foundation Building Realm.” She paused, her features softening. ”As long as you bring out the Purple Lightning Talisman inheritance, we can work out something together. If there’s any trouble in the future, even if the Southern Heavenly Sect wants to seize it, they’ll have to consider our combined strength.”

Abbess Zhu Yue didn’t respond to her. Turning to Fang Chen, she said, ”Fang Chen, you should leave for now. We can’t have guests today.”

”Leave? He can’t leave.” Yao Dan chuckled. ”Since he butted into our conversation earlier, he’s now involved.”

Fang Chen smiled and suddenly turned to Qing He. ”What grade of Purple Lightning Talisman can you craft now?”

”Low-grade...” replied Qing He instinctively.

Fang Chen took out a peak-grade Purple Lightning Talisman and handed it to Qing He. ”This is a peak-grade Purple Lightning Talisman. Here, feel its power, it will help you in the future when you attempt to craft similar ones.” He then pointed at the group of Qingzhou Sword Sect cultivators. ”Now, just throw it at them.”
