Immortal of the Nine Realms

Chapter 245: Do You Think You’ll Die Today?

The medicinal fields of the Huang and Liu families were only opened once every five years. As soon as it opened, cultivators flocked here in the thousands. On the way in, disciples from both families were responsible for maintaining order while also keeping an eye on everyone to prevent theft in the medicinal fields.

Seeing the crowds of cultivators, Fang Chen couldn’t help but let out a sigh. ”There were hardly any cultivators in Grand Xia aside from those from the Spirit Blood Sect. One might have to wait decades and decades to chance upon one.”

Before long, the two arrived deep within the medicinal fields. On both sides were huge medicinal fields, each filled with countless spiritual herbs of different ages, their fragrances and spiritual energies interweaving, intoxicating the senses.

With a sweep of his gaze, Fang Chen saw a huge, green lotus deep in the medicinal fields. Its aura was the strongest, surpassing all other spiritual herbs in fragrance and spiritual energy.

”Everyone, there are many types of spiritual herbs up for auction today. We will provide the base price, and the highest bidder will win,” shouted the deacons of the two families as people began to gather.

Soon, one mature spiritual herb after another was picked and presented to the crowd, followed by fierce biddings.

It didn’t take long for the spiritual herbs to be sold out.

”We’ll wrap up today’s auction here. Come back in five years,” the deacon from the Huang family said happily as he looked at the hefty sum of spirit stones they had garnered.

”I heard that your Green Jade Lotus is about to yield results. I wonder how much the lotus seeds will sell for,” said Fang Chen loudly from the crowd.

The crowd gave Fang Chen a weird look. It was well known that this hundred-year Green Jade Lotus was the treasure of both families, with cultivators stationed there every day to protect them. The lotus seeds of the Green Jade Lotus were not for sale because they could not only detoxify but also slightly enhance one’s innate talent and vitality with multiple consumptions.

The Huang Family’s deacon glanced at Fang Chen. ”Who are you?” he asked indifferently. “Don’t you know that the lotus seeds of our Green Jade Lotus are not for sale?”

”I just want one,” said Fang Chen.

”Of course not. You can’t have one. Get lost. Who do you think you are? Even if it’s the Southern Heavenly Sect or the Spirit Beast Valley, they have to inform us politely in advance!” rebuked one young cultivator angrily.

Many young people around him echoed his sentiments. These lotus seeds were not even enough for their own consumption, yet outsiders wanted to buy them? Dream on!

”I’m being very polite here. How about one hundred low-grade spirit stones for one?” Fang Chen smiled.

One hundred low-grade spirit stones?

The crowd was stunned. This was not a low price at all; in fact, it could be considered pretty amazing! In the past, some Foundation Building Realm cultivators had purchased lotus seeds from the Huang and Liu families for prices ranging from forty to fifty low-grade spirit stones.

”Preposterous! Do you think you can buy anything with spirit stones? Someone like you must be taught a lesson! Leave behind a hundred spirit stones and then scram from here!” shouted the same young man again.

The deacons from the Huang and Liu families exchanged glances but remained silent, seemingly allowing the situation to escalate.

”He’s in trouble now. He really had to have a run in with the young master of the Huang Family.”

”I heard that the Huang Family’s young master doesn’t tolerate any nonsense. If he doesn’t like someone, he’ll take action without hesitation.”

”This guy must be new here. Why did he have to pick a fight over Green Jade Lotus seeds? He probably won’t be able to leave now without leaving those spirit stones behind.”

Fang Chen looked at the young cultivator. ”Can you represent the entire Huang Family?”

”I’m Huang Hao,” announced the young man arrogantly. “You can ask around about me later and see if I can speak for the Huang family or not.”

”This is our Huang Family’s young master. His words can represent the Huang Family. I suggest you hand over the spirit stones now, and we’ll let this matter slide,” said the deacon from the Huang Family indifferently as a surge of spiritual energy swept forth from him.

12th stage of the Qi Refining Realm!

He was clearly trying to threaten Fang Chen. Among the cultivators attending this auction today, there were only a few at the 12th stage of the Qi Refining Realm.

Huang Hao sneered. ”Did you hear that? Hand over the spirit stones now. Consider this a lesson for you. Don’t be foolish next time.”

Fang Chen smiled. With a thought, Little Sword sprung forth with the speed of lightning and easily pierced through the spiritual energy barrier around the deacon of the Huang Family before it stopped short of his forehead.

A drop of blood slowly seeped out.

When the deacon came back to his senses, his whole body drenched in cold sweat as he felt a chill creeping up his spine.

The crowd was stunned. They hadn’t even seen how Fang Chen made his move; they just witnessed this terrifying scene.

As long as the flying sword moved slightly, Deacon Huang would undoubtedly have his head pierced through!

”How presumptuous?!” Huang Hao’s shock and anger surged, and he began sternly shouting, ”Take him down! Take him down right now!”

The cultivators from the Huang and Liu families didn’t dare to act rashly, pretending not to hear Huang Hao’s orders. With Deacon Huang’s life hanging by a thread, how could they dare make any reckless move. If they did, they’d be gambling with his life.

”I was trying to talk to you nicely, but you insisted on acting like thugs.” Fang Chen shook his head with a smile, walking up to Deacon Huang. ”Do you think that just because you’re at the 12th stage of the Qi Refining Realm you can do whatever you want?”

Deacon Huang’s face had already turned ashen, and his lips quivered as he mouthed ”You are... you are a sword cultivator?”

He was the one under the threat of death, and he could feel the immense sword intent contained within the flying sword. His spiritual energy shield had been powerless against Fang Chen. He hadn’t been able to withstand a single blow!

An existence like this could kill him effortlessly!

”Tell me, do you think you’ll die today?”

The beads of sweat on Deacon Huang’s forehead grew larger. He dared not move, looking at Fang Chen with a pale face, stuttering, ”Daoist, please speak your mind. The Green Jade Lotus won’t mature until a few more days later. There’s no way I can give you one now.”

”Then we’ll wait a few days,” Fang Chen smiled and then pointed at Huang Hao. ”Is this gentleman the young master of your Huang Family?”

”Yes!” replied Deacon Huang hurriedly.

”You seem tired. Take a break,” Fang Chen nodded. In the next moment, the flying sword had already flown in front of Huang Hao.

Huang Hao quivered in fear. ”What are you going to do?”

Deacon Huang breathed a sigh of relief, wiping away the sweat. However, seeing Huang Hao’s perilous situation, he couldn’t help but feel anxious himself. He hurriedly advised, ”Daoist, we didn’t know each other before. Let’s bury the hatchet and flip to a new page, what do you say?”

Fang Chen showed Deacon Huang a smile ”Gambling with your young master’s life, I see.”

Deacon Huang’s scalp tingled, and he dared not speak further. The feeling of imminent death he had just experienced was something he never wanted to try again!

”Don’t you dare cause trouble. If something happens to me, you won’t be able to leave this place alive!” stuttered Huang Hao.

”If you threaten me again...” Fang Chen chuckled.

Huang Hao immediately shut his mouth, not daring to utter another word. He had a premonition that if he spoke again, he might meet his end right then and there.

The surrounding cultivators had various expressions upon witnessing this scene—some were shocked, some horrified, some deep in thought, some gloating, and some curious about Fang Chen’s background.
