Warhammer Divine Throne

Deep within the Charon Forest, the Green Skin Fortress stood.

Snow drifted across the battlefield, as an army of 1,500 marched in unison. Sword and shield soldiers and sergeants advanced gradually with their shields raised, while crossbowmen and Woodland Guards mingled together. Dwarf Musketeers stood in three rows, none willing to position themselves in front of the dwarves.

Not far away, the Green Skin Fortress lay in ruins, with many areas severely damaged. Goblins struggled to repair the towers, but the dense rain of arrows and Dwarf Muskets kept them cowering within, unable to lift their heads.

”Fire!” Some goblin archers dared to counterattack, barely rising from behind the battlements to return fire at the peasant crossbowmen.

”Shoo, shoo, shoo~” A sparse shower of arrows flew towards the Alliance Army soldiers. Many peasant infantry raised their shields to block them, but a few unfortunates got hit, though fortunately not fatally.

”Fei’s Sheltering Light!” A novice witch apprentice strained to cast a spell.

Fei’s Sheltering Light, a Second Ring Spell, was a simple protective spell.

A platinum glow surrounded the witch apprentice, who tried to gather the power of the Magic Wind, her vague perceptions causing her pain.

”Focus, Naomi, imagine, visualize your magic structure, then channel the power of the Wind of Light into it and release it all at once!” Veronica instructed loudly beside her: ”Keep your focus! Control yourself!”

”Control…” The witch apprentice concentrated with all her might. The Wind of Light’s power slowly took shape in her mind.

The brilliant Wind of Light was finally under the control of Naomi, the witch apprentice, who emitted a protective glow that enveloped the peasant infantry. This spell was a very basic protective spell, with limited effect: it could at most shield the soldiers from ordinary arrows and basic long spears, and only lasted two or three minutes. The apprentice’s Light of Shelter covered only a line of seven or eight soldiers, merely better than nothing.

Yet for the witch apprentices who had been locked away in class for so long, this was invaluable battlefield experience. Having practiced spellcasting near the Wizard Tower, they were experiencing the battlefield for the first time, and many soldiers were injured or even lost their lives because the witches failed to cast in time.

Such was the cruelty of war.

Seeing the witch apprentices finally understand the reality of war, Veronica nodded with satisfaction. She then began to chant a powerful spell. A massive Fire Elemental Gas Mass gradually formed in front of the Jialan Witch.

Like a giant bull, the Fire Elemental Gas Mass exploded and burned in the air, melting all the snow on the ground.

Eighth Ring Magic, Flame Burst Technique!

Veronica’s witch, Catherine, also chanted: ”Scorching Gaze of Flash!”

A white mana orb formed in front of Catherine. Scorching Gaze was a Fourth Ring Spell, a rare direct damage Light Magic.

”Ahhhh! I thought I couldn’t touch that fireball!” The goblin shaman on the wall was terrified, shouting at his warg, ”Guys, don’t blame me. I said if we can’t hold it, I’ll run faster than you!”

Having said that, the goblin shaman mounted his warg, rushing straight down to the mine beneath the fortress.

”Trying to run?” Veronica shouted sharply, sending the terrifying Flame Burst Technique flying towards the goblin shaman. The Fire Elemental Gas Mass moved slowly, but the Flame Burst Technique had already shattered a section of wall, a watchtower, and Brother Mao’s Statue without showing signs of stopping.

”Waaah! I thought I was going to be blown to bits!” The goblin shaman screamed desperately, urging his warg to flee. The technique’s fire scorched the warg’s behind, making it howl in agony: ”Woo woo woo woo~”

”Boom!” A massive explosion, leaving only ashes behind.

Dugen the Ironman, the Dwarf Engineer, raised his thumb, pointing at the fortress gate, ”Elevation 43 degrees!”

”43 degrees!” The Dwarf Heavy Cannon’s barrel rotated, aimed at the fortress gate, and the engineer inserted a cast iron shell into the cannon from behind.

”Fire!”

”Boom!” With a dull sound, the shell traced a perfect arc in the air, and a wisp of blue smoke dispersed. The gate exploded, splinters flew, and a large hole was blasted in the tall gate.

”Kill! Charge!” The sergeants rushed to the gap in the gate, with many goblins behind it trying to cover the hole with wooden boards and stones. Sergeant Deni immediately pointed at the gate: ”Eliminate them!”

”Ahhhh!” Sergeants and crossbowmen surged forward, with a dozen crossbows crowding the gate, releasing a volley of crossbow arrows. Goblins fell one after another, as Kingdom Knight Hex shouted: ”Those loading withdraw, those loaded advance!”

The soldiers reloading their crossbows retreated quickly, while those with loaded crossbows filled the breach, aiming and firing. The goblins trying to block the gate suffered heavy casualties.

”We can’t hold it, we can’t hold it!” Repeated attempts by the goblins to repair the hole in the gate failed, leading to a severe drop in morale. The peasants wielded crude siege hammers they’d fashioned, hammering with force at the weakened gate. The wood securing the gate creaked under the strain, ready to snap.
