Warhammer Divine Throne

In the evening, the rain was still heavy.

Inside the restaurant of the Dawn Wizard Tower near the Count’s castle, many sorceress apprentices were having dinner.

The gentle clinking of cutlery and plates filled the air as a dozen sorceress apprentices dined together, mostly with their heads down, taking small bites of white bread, horse meat sausage, cauliflower, and corn ham chowder.

Coming to Brittania and being trained by Member Veronica Bernadotte was a completely new experience for the sorceress apprentices. When Jialan Parliament Speaker Margarita announced at Celestial Vault Castle, asking who was willing to go to Brittania, more than 70% of the sorceress apprentices signed themselves up.

After rigorous selection, Margarita eventually chose a dozen excellent sorceress apprentices and also sent two of her own official sorceresses to assist Veronica. Now that she had a luxurious wizard tower of her own, she was qualified to enter the Inner Ring Elder Council; the only thing she lacked was experience.

Arriving in the Knight Kingdom, the sorceress apprentices no longer had to endure the oppressive environment of Celestial Vault Castle. Both living conditions and accommodations were much better. Celestial Vault Castle was originally built on a mountain over two thousand meters high, making life quite hard for the sorceress apprentices. The lower-level sorceress apprentices had to squeeze into a communal sleeping area at night, which meant everyone slept together in one room.

Veronica was not an amiable mentor, or rather, none of the female members of the Jialan Council were. However, being a Jialan Witch who emerged from the ranks of sorceress apprentices herself, Veronica was very familiar with their situation and established many systems for effective management.

”Mira, it’s not surprising to see Member Veronica here, but why do I see Member Teresa?” a sorceress apprentice whispered.

At the other side of the restaurant, Veronica was having a meal with Teresa, the two Jialan female members speaking in low voices, not seeming to be arguing.

”Shh~ Naomi, keep your voice down. If we anger the members, we’ll be sent back! I don’t want to go back to Celestial Vault Castle!” another sorceress apprentice whispered.

The sorceress apprentices whispered and chatted softly.

”You, hurry up and eat. There’s another lesson tonight. Count’s Tax Officer Gaspardon will give you a math lesson.” Catherine, who was already an official witch, saw many sorceress apprentices whispering and quickly spoke up.

However, Catherine overestimated her authority. Having just advanced to the Elite Tier, Catherine appeared very naive both in appearance and tone, and her reprimands had little effect, only prompting more questions from the apprentices.

”Teacher Catherine, what is Member Veronica doing?”

”Teacher Catherine, are you teaching us tomorrow?”

”When can we meet His Excellency the Count? Didn’t they say he would take time to teach us swordsmanship? Why is it always Teacher Doris giving the lessons?”

The apprentices kept asking questions, leaving Catherine flustered: ”Well, this...”

She had to turn to her mentor for help: ”Mentor...”

”Quiet.” Veronica spoke up.

The entire restaurant instantly fell silent, with all sorceress apprentices lowering their heads, daring not to speak. Only the sound of chewing remained in the restaurant.

Seeing the sorceress apprentices, Veronica frowned slightly and said to Teresa, ”Let’s go upstairs to talk.”

”Indeed, we should.” Teresa’s tear mole added a cold allure to her appearance.

After finishing a simple dinner, Veronica and Teresa went upstairs one after the other. The heavy pressure gradually faded away, and the sorceress apprentices quickly finished their meals and hurried to rest. In the afternoon, they might have to work or make various magic potions, and sometimes attend lessons. Sorceress apprentices had only one day of free time per week, when they could stroll around Laine’s town or enjoy some leisure time in their rooms.

Veronica opened her reception room. In the warm-toned luxurious decor, high-end red-wing wood sofas were placed inside, and several magic lamps emitted a soft yellow light.

”What heavy rain.” The tapping of Veronica’s high heels echoed to the window. She considered opening it, but the heavy rain made her give up: ”Have a seat, what would you like to drink?”

”Anything is fine.” Teresa said indifferently, glancing around the room’s decor, comparing it slightly to her mother’s wizard tower.

The female sorcerer had to admit that although in terms of heritage, Veronica’s wizard tower didn’t have as many years of accumulation as Aurora’s wizard tower, in terms of luxury, Veronica was not to be outdone. Moreover, with Laine’s backing, it was only a matter of time before Dawn Wizard Tower surpassed her mother’s wizard tower.

Veronica opened her liquor cabinet, taking out a bottle of sparkling apple wine and two wine glasses.

A sound of water as the glasses were placed in front of Teresa: ”Here~ try it, this was given to me by Laine.”

”It’s rather presumptuous to visit you so late.” Teresa picked up the glass, her butterfly-patterned spectacles reflecting the serene face of Veronica, her gaze somewhat elusive: ”But I think we should have a good talk.”

”What would the Little Princess Jialan like to discuss with me? It must be either about Laine or about Elder Aurora.” Veronica nodded, the sweet-looking Jialan witch facing the coldly elegant Teresa, a fake smile on her face: ”Which one do you want to talk about?”
