Warhammer Divine Throne

Laine slowly approached, until he was by the Lake Fairy’s side.

The Lake Fairy extended a perfect jade-like hand, placing a small vial into Laine’s hand: ”This is Potion Holy Water. Take it, my champion. Use this Holy Water at a critical moment to temporarily shield yourself from the Evil God’s gaze.”

”Thank you very much, my Lady.” Laine accepted the Holy Water and expressed his gratitude to the Lake Fairy. With the protection of the Lake Fairy, Laine could confidently make a move against the Aesthetic Society without worrying about being directly watched and cursed by the Evil God.

”You still need to prioritize resolving the issue with that fallen Demon Hunter; otherwise, I’m very concerned about the long-standing risk of the Demon Hunter system collapsing.” The Lake Fairy’s long golden hair, reaching down to her ankles, exuded the purest fragrance. In front of Laine, the Lake Fairy never concealed her unparalleled beauty: ”You are unafraid of corruption, but not everyone possesses such a capability. I once sent one of my Holy Grail Knights to the Far North to destroy the Great Demon of Slaanesh, but when I saw him again, he had become a cultist loudly preaching hedonism, saying he wanted to offer me to his new master.”

”...” Laine couldn’t answer this question. He himself was completely immune to Subspace erosion, being a Genetic Primarch, but there was only one of him in the world. Even the Holy Grail Knights could not withstand the fearsome Chaos Corruption in the Far North.

After a long conversation, the Spiritual Energy within Laine continued to flow endlessly. His mind and soul showed no signs of instability despite long-term communication and contact with the Deities. The Lake Fairy nodded secretly upon seeing this. With Laine’s presence, she could visit the Prime Material World more frequently.

This would be beneficial for her to realize her plans.

Before she could speak, Laine understandingly said, ”My new home will welcome your presence at any time, my Lady.”

”... Visiting the Prime Material World is always interesting; I will frequently come during this period.”

The next morning, Laine woke up refreshed and washed up before heading to the dining room, where Catherine was already making breakfast. The young girl happily hummed a song as she placed bacon, fried eggs, and buttered bread on the table.

”Where’s Veronica? Still not up?” Laine drank a sip of hot milk, appreciating the little apprentice’s skills.

Footsteps with the sound of high heels clicked on the stairs: ”Coming.”

The Jialan Witch was dressed in a cream-colored lily-patterned long dress and gray wolf fur coat, with flesh-colored stockings and off-white high heels. Wearing a pearl necklace on her chest, she resembled an immaculate lily. Veronica gracefully descended the stairs step by step, then walked into the dining room and sat down: ”Let’s check out the Gladiatorial Arena today.”

”Are we going to find Belte? You think Belte is hiding in the arena?” Laine couldn’t help but be amazed, but he knew the task was important, and there would be time for them after work.

”I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about it, but so far, I still can’t come to a conclusion.” Veronica shook her head continuously, appearing as troubled about Belte’s whereabouts: ”However, the arena is the easiest target to inspect because its location is fixed and traceable.”

The young apprentice Catherine changed out of her witch robe into a maid outfit, with a white ruffled apron over a white-collared black dress and a maid’s headband on her head. The girl hummed a song joyfully, oblivious to what she had avoided, as she prepared breakfast in the kitchen. Today’s breakfast was delicious oatmeal porridge and fried ham.

”So I should become a gladiator?” Laine joked casually.

”No... May I say, Laine, you’re too big and too conspicuous,” Veronica said as she spread jam on her bread and gently shook her head: ”Laine, your high profile sometimes can be a disadvantage. It’s hard for you to hide your radiance now, and I don’t know the Disguise Technique. If you openly go to the gladiatorial arena to find someone, the probability of finding Belte is zero.”

Laine nodded, acknowledging that Veronica had a point. As for why Veronica didn’t say she would go find someone herself, it was because women were even less suited to go searching around the arena.

In Marinburg’s arena, only a few were slave gladiators; most were ”Free Gladiators,” professionals looking to earn quick money. With the large transient population in Marinburg, it was easy for Belte to escape.

”So we need to take a unique approach, Laine. We need a trusted and capable man to go undercover as a gladiator to secretly search for Belte’s whereabouts,” Veronica proposed her plan to Laine: ”I’ll monitor the Aesthetic Society’s movements while you investigate the arena.”

”No, we must act together when we make a move.” Laine raised a finger: ”The Aesthetic Society is not the priority right now.”

”...” Veronica understood Laine’s intent, acknowledging that probing the Aesthetic Society was indeed too dangerous: ”But...”

”Oh! Veronica, remember Elma’s story?” Laine asked earnestly: ”I don’t want you to end up that way, not at all...”

Elma, a former female member of the Jialan Council, recklessly ventured alone to investigate the Chaos Sect and quickly vanished without a trace.

That would have been the least of it; if only disappearing without a trace, it could be presumed as death at most.

But a month later, the Jialan Council began receiving packages, signed by Elma. An apprentice opened the package and was scared to madness.
