The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1296: Chapter 499: ”The Past

”Not empty?”

He Jinglun and Zhang Shiling both showed shocked expressions. Zhang Shiling immediately asked, ”What does this mean? Are you saying... our Wangjiang Association truly has a seventh person?”

”Shiling, do you remember what I told you when you joined the association?”

Guo Wangshan nodded slightly, ”I’m just the ’convener’ who handles things in the open... The true founder has always been another person.”

”Then... who is this founder?”

At this moment, Zhang Shiling was indeed stirred with immense curiosity.

It should be known that the initial Wangjiang Association, although secretly formed for certain purposes, attracted six individuals who, even without their significant wealth today, were not ordinary characters at the time.

Guo Wangshan, needless to say, supported by the deeply rooted Jiangbei Guo Family in Magic City, has been a leading figure there since he fully controlled Guo Group.

Chen Qiaosheng, a rising dark horse in the business sector of Magic City, founded Tianqiao Youke and consecutively received angel investments. He is one of the few who could wrestle with Tencent in the gaming field, but those familiar with him know that he initially thrived on ”foreign trade,” only later transitioning into the gaming industry...

Liu Heng was already a leader in the logistics industry of Magic City, and Shen Li, who inherited his father’s business, had significant influence not only in the shipping industry but also in many other sectors within Magic City, boasting extensive connections.

On the surface, only Zhang Shiling, who came to Magic City alone to seek her fortune, seemed to have weaker foundations, but behind her was the colossal Zhang Group.

However, these six individuals, who appeared to have no obvious connections and little chance for collaboration, were brought together to form the then ”Wangjiang Association.”

From Zhang Shiling’s perspective, they always believed Guo Wangshan was the mastermind behind it all, especially since even the association’s name seemed to align with his... though he never admitted it.

When Guo Wangshan denied it, Zhang Shiling couldn’t imagine anyone with such influence that even Guo Wangshan would be in awe.

”Do you believe in ’foreseeing the unknown’ in this world?”

Guo Wangshan, recalling something, said with a slightly dazed expression.

”Foreseeing the unknown?”

The few of them were utterly perplexed, unable to understand why Guo Wangshan suddenly brought this up when they were discussing the Wangjiang Association.

But they knew Guo Wangshan wouldn’t speak without reason, so He Jinglun pondered for a moment and said, ”No one can truly foresee the unknown. I think if someone like you, Mr. Guo, can predict five or six out of ten things, it’s already impressive...”

Everyone else nodded slightly, evidently agreeing with He Jinglun’s view.

Zhang Shiling also concurred, ”That’s right. We are all in business. Essentially, this is the goal we pursue. Who wouldn’t want to accurately predict every market change and seize opportunities? Being right once or twice is already remarkable, enough to amass billions... If someone could predict everything accurately, there’s nothing he couldn’t achieve in this world, which would be too exaggerated.”

”Indeed, very exaggerated.”

Guo Wangshan chuckled with an enigmatic expression, ”Two years ago, Magic City’s stock market experienced a massive upheaval. Do you all still remember?”

”Speaking of this, damn it, I remember very clearly.”

Shen Li, who grew up by the sea and carried a bit of ruggedness, interjected immediately, ”Our group had shares in those two listed companies at the time. They were heavily affected, losing billions in just a few days, causing me sleepless nights.”

”That upheaval affected nearly the entire business realm of Magic City. Except for some heavily consolidated industries that weren’t impacted, everyone else suffered to varying degrees, leading some to call it the biggest economic crisis of the new century in Magic City.”

Guo Wangshan recalled, ”Our Guo Group was similarly affected, with two subsidiaries nearing bankruptcy. Yet, just as I was at a loss for solutions, I suddenly received a mysterious phone call... The caller did not reveal his name or background, only told me the precise market change for the next day.”

”I initially scoffed, dismissing it as a prank. However, out of curiosity, I checked the market the next day and was astounded to find... everything he said was correct.”

”All correct?”

”Yes, all correct... What I mean is that out of the twelve stocks he listed, every one of their fluctuations matched exactly, accurate to the percentage’s single digits, all correct.”

”How is this possible?”

With a face full of disbelief, Zhang Shiling was the first to voice skepticism, ”Unless he can foresee...”

Zhang Shiling froze halfway through her words, seemingly realizing what Guo Wangshan meant.

”Yes, this is foreseeing the unknown, which is what he wanted to convey.”

Guo Wangshan took a deep breath, ”I still found it unbelievable, but he called me every day for seven days, and each day’s market trends were exactly as he predicted... Out of caution and... somewhat due to fear, I didn’t take many actions. Yet, even so, relying on the information he provided, not only did I successfully revitalize those two companies, but I also went upstream and made a small profit.”

He Jinglun and others listened with puzzled expressions, honestly thinking that if these words weren’t coming from Guo Wangshan, they wouldn’t believe even half a punctuation mark.
