The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1288: Chapter 495: [Reverse]_2

Jiang Qingkui just looked at Zhou Wang.

”I can be the last one, Zhou Wang, how about you go first.”

Xia Xiwei suggested.

”You guys are usually smart, so why do you insist on being foolish at a time like this? If I’m not the last one, who will take Aunt Nie down? Do you have enough strength?”

Zhou Wang’s words woke the three of them.

Ding Yi, who was supporting Nie Xiaoyun, brightened up, ”Can you do it?”

”Of course, I work out regularly, stop wasting time. I know you’re all mad at me, but at least for now, can you listen to me just this once? Xixi, you go first.”

”Okay.”

Xia Xiwei bit her lip and nodded, suddenly stepped forward to hug Zhou Wang, hesitated a bit, and then kissed him on the cheek, before quickly turning around and grabbing the rope.

After Gao Xing lowered Xia Xiwei down, it was Jiang Qingkui’s turn. She was much bolder than Xia Xiwei, and amidst the slightly complicated glances from Nie Xiaoyun and Ding Yi, she kissed Zhou Wang on the lips before sliding down the rope.

”Then Zhou Wang, I’m trusting you with my mom.”

Ding Yi, who was the last to stay, whispered something to Nie Xiaoyun and then just lightly hugged Zhou Wang... Probably her pride didn’t allow her to kiss someone who had just been kissed by another woman.

After the relatively weaker Ding Yi stumbled down the rope, Zhou Wang first glanced at Gao Xing, whose forehead was faintly sweaty but still stood as solid as a rock.

”Can you still hold on?”

”Yes.”

Gao Xing just nodded.

”Aunt Nie, I’m afraid you’ll have to hang directly onto me, the position might be a little intimate...”

Zhou Wang helped Nie Xiaoyun up, a bit embarrassed as he spoke.

Nie Xiaoyun didn’t look embarrassed at all; she just smiled openly.

”In times like this, there’s no room for such concerns. It’s alright, just do whatever is convenient for you.”

Hearing this, Zhou Wang didn’t hesitate any longer, immediately wrapping one arm around Nie Xiaoyun’s slender waist, the other hand lifted her up directly.

Zhou Wang grimaced slightly because, just as he remembered, Nie Xiaoyun’s weight was far more than her appearance suggested, a kind of heavy softness. He had no choice but to remind Nie Xiaoyun to quickly hold onto his neck and clamped her legs around his waist so that Zhou Wang could free one of his hands.

Once Nie Xiaoyun was securely in place, Zhou Wang was about to step towards Gao Xing, when suddenly, with a violent shake, the worst-case scenario he had feared happened...

”Be careful!”

Zhou Wang only heard Gao Xing’s urgent shout, and the next second, a violent feeling of weightlessness swept over Zhou Wang. Amid Nie Xiaoyun’s cries, the floor beneath them began to collapse.

In the critical moment, Zhou Wang pushed hard and launched the screaming Nie Xiaoyun horizontally, barely landing on the other side of the floor.

BOOM!

A cloud of dust obstructed vision. Vaguely, Zhou Wang saw Gao Xing also falling in the collapse, but at this moment he could only bury his head, protecting Nie Xiaoyun in his embrace while curling up as much as possible to protect himself.

He didn’t know how long the earth-shattering collapse lasted, it felt like the whole 56th floor was falling. Zhou Wang felt a continuous sharp pain in his back, not sure what had hit him.

After several seconds, or maybe it was a century, when the commotion around him temporarily ceased, Zhou Wang looked up, wiped the dust off his face, and took in the surroundings.

At that moment, Zhou Wang inhaled sharply.

The 56th floor hadn’t completely collapsed, but as far as he could see, only some broken ground remained, with large gaping holes everywhere. The debris with flames had fallen to the level below, forming a continuous pit of fire below.

At this time, Zhou Wang and Nie Xiaoyun had just happened to land on a small piece of floor near the corner of the wall, with no footing within meters around them.

The entire hallway had already completely caved in, and Gao Xing was nowhere to be found. In this vast high-altitude wasteland of burning smoke and fire, it seemed as if only Zhou Wang and Nie Xiaoyun were left.

”Aunt Nie, are you alright?”

Zhou Wang stood dazed for a few seconds before he remembered Nie Xiaoyun, who he had pinned beneath him, quickly shifted slightly and asked.

”I’m okay, are you?”

Nie Xiaoyun struggled to get up from the ground, and when she saw the scene before her, she was also stunned, a bit at a loss. ”So... what do we do now?”

The space where they were standing was just barely enough for the two to squeeze together, with burning debris below them. Worse yet, they were far from a window, and at a glance, there was no clear path to safety.

”It seems, we can only wait for rescue... but I don’t know if we can hold out until then.”

Zhou Wang frowned, unsure why, but as he looked at the fire below, he vaguely felt like he was missing something, yet he couldn’t think of it.

Nie Xiaoyun smiled wryly, ”It seems I’ve dragged you into this mess.”

”Aunt Nie, how can you say you dragged me down? No matter what, today’s situation stemmed from me, I was supposed to be the last one anyway.”

Zhou Wang shook his head.

”Zhou Wang, you’re more responsible than I imagined.”

Nie Xiaoyun thought of something, then suddenly chuckled.

Zhou Wang looked around, confirming there was indeed no option at the moment, he sat back down. Hearing Nie Xiaoyun chuckle beside him, hugging her knees, he hadn’t expected Nie Xiaoyun to have the mind for jokes at a time like this, but Zhou Wang relaxed too, thinking would frowning be of any help now?
