Chapter 1285: Chapter 494: Ace Bodyguard

”Help, someone save me, I don’t want to die...”

The faint cries came from one side. Zhou Wang tried to cross the smoke that blocked his view to find the source of the sound. However, as soon as he took a step, a flame suddenly rose from the collapsed tables and chairs beside him. Fortunately, Zhou Wang reacted in time and wasn’t actually burned. Even so, he still felt a burning pain on his skin.

”Watch out!”

Jiang Qingkui and Xu Wenqian simultaneously exclaimed behind him and quickly pulled Zhou Wang back.

When Zhou Wang tried to listen again to where the cries were coming from, the sound had already disappeared.

Zhou Wang’s expression turned somewhat gloomy.

He didn’t know what happened to the owner of that voice, but in this chaotic environment where flames were everywhere and there could be collapses and secondary explosions at any moment, the person’s fate probably wasn’t too good...

Guided by Gao Xing, led by the bodyguard Xiao Liu, they groped forward completely. Although this direction was the least affected by the explosion, the omnipresent flames had spread to every corner, and don’t forget, the banquet hall today contained a large amount of alcohol.

Unopened bottles of high-proof liquor and foreign wines became the best kindling in this fire scene. Most of the sudden flames erupted from these expensive liquors.

When the chain explosions occurred, the entire 56th floor was already in complete chaos. Zhou Wang estimated that it probably caused many casualties at that time. With the current raging fire and smoke possibly filled with toxic gases, Zhou Wang didn’t even dare to think about how many of the hundreds of people, including the waitstaff, could survive...

Among them were his friends, family, partners, and even lovers...

”This is not your fault.”

As if sensing what Zhou Wang was contemplating while standing still, Jiang Qingkui tightly held his hand and softly said.

Zhou Wang turned back. At this moment, both Jiang Qingkui and Xu Wenqian had their originally elegant dresses partially damaged. Coupled with the dust covering them, they looked truly disheveled.

Yet, despite Jiang Qingkui’s significantly diminished demeanor, the gentle gaze she directed at Zhou Wang was something Zhou Wang had never seen before.

As for Xu Wenqian, there’s no need to mention it. He didn’t know when she started to trust Zhou Wang unconditionally. Even though crisis loomed, she always stood firmly by his side.

Zhou Wang was clearly aware... she could lay down her life for him at any moment.

This could be seen from Xu Wenqian’s ever-vigilant demeanor, constantly scanning and always concerned about Zhou Wang’s safety, appearing almost like another bodyguard for Zhou Wang.

Faced with the concern of the two women, Zhou Wang’s throat moved, but ultimately he said nothing.

”Mr. Zhou, we need to move forward. The structural integrity of the floor is compromised, and any area could be at risk of collapse at any moment.”

The guiding bodyguard Xiao Liu urgently reminded.

Zhou Wang steadied himself and could only temporarily set aside those negative emotions, leading the two women to follow Xiao Liu further ahead.

After walking a bit, they arrived near another fire escape at the end of the floor, where the flames were finally much reduced. The broken windows let in howling winds, creating a temporary vacuum in this ruined hallway.

To Zhou Wang’s slight surprise, this relatively safe area had already gathered some people. When Guo Wangshan, who was quietly talking to his bodyguard, saw Zhou Wang appear, he immediately stepped forward a few paces to greet him.

”Brother, are you alright?”

”Brother Guo, I’m fine, just that Qingkui and Wenxi are slightly injured... how about you guys?”

As Zhou Wang inquired, his eyes swept past Guo Wangshan’s back and saw Ding Yi and Nie Xiaoyun, Xia Xiwei and Yan Baiqiu sisters, as well as Chen Qiaosheng from Tianqiao Group, Mr. Liu from Speed Express, and others were all present, he exhaled slightly.

But when his gaze passed over Nie Xiaoyun, Zhou Wang was slightly startled. He saw a flicker of colorful light on Nie Xiaoyun, but it flashed so briefly that it seemed like an illusion to Zhou Wang.

What was that?

Before Zhou Wang could figure it out, Guo Wangshan’s deep voice pulled him back to reality.

”We’re alright too. After the explosion, my bodyguard and Mr. Chen’s bodyguard swiftly led us here. But along the way, Mr. Zhang was startled and fell through a collapsed pit. We really didn’t have time to save him...”

Zhou Wang temporarily put away his doubts and instead asked,

”Which Mr. Zhang?”

”Zhang Shiling.”

Guo Wangshan sighed as he spoke.

As soon as he heard it was Young Master Zhang’s mother who was in trouble, Zhou Wang’s mood became heavy, but it wasn’t the time to dwell on it. Taking a deep breath, he quickly asked,

”How about here, is there a way down?”

Although due to the winds, the flames hadn’t reached this area yet, it was evident that as the fire spread, this safe zone might not last long. The urgent task at hand was still to quickly find a way out.

”Brother, see for yourself. This stairway also collapsed during the previous explosion. There’s still smoke obscuring the view below, so it’s hard to see clearly, but it’s definitely impossible to go down directly...”

Guo Wangshan pointed to the broken stairway with a serious expression and said, ”As for contacting the outside, there’s barely any signal here. My assistant managed to get in touch with the police earlier, and the fire departments have arrived on the scene, urgently formulating a rescue plan, though there’s no good solution yet.”
