Chapter 190: Chapter 133 The Real Investment_2

At this moment, the middle-aged man and the driver also saw Zhou Wang. The middle-aged man asked in surprise, “Brother, why are you here too?”

“My friend’s company, you guys…what’s going on here?”

Upon hearing this was Zhou Wang’s friend’s company, the driver’s face immediately turned a bit sour, yet the middle-aged man remained quite composed. He stopped the driver from saying anything, spreading his hands helplessly.

“We’re here to collect money. We had previously signed a contract with this company for live-streaming agricultural products. It was agreed that if the sales didn’t meet the target, most of the fees would be refunded, but now…”

Listening as the middle-aged man briefly explained, Zhou Wang roughly understood the situation.

On the surface, it appeared to be an ordinary contract dispute. The agricultural products for the live stream, managed by Zhenyuan E-commerce, reached the expected sales amount, but many orders were refunded after the funds were transferred. As a result, the final actual sales were far below expectations. After failed attempts to negotiate a refund, the middle-aged man brought the driver directly to the company.

“Can I take a look at your contract?”

Zhou Wang glanced at Yang Zhen, who was also listening to the employees explain the situation. Out of curiosity, he asked the question.

The middle-aged man nodded and handed the contract on the table to Zhou Wang.

Zhou Wang skimmed through it briefly. When he saw the so-called service fee of two million a year for account operation plus live-stream traffic, Zhou Wang couldn’t help but grimace.

Brother, you were obviously scammed…

Even though Zhou Wang wasn’t very familiar with market prices, he could tell that this price was unreasonably inflated.

But Zhou Wang was also somewhat astonished. You were willing to spend so much money just to operate a live stream; your so-called “agricultural product” industry must be quite substantial!

As he flipped further, Zhou Wang couldn’t help but frown, “You also teamed up with some local farmers?”

“Yes, quite a few villagers from Zhao Village grow Shine Muscat and apples with me. They also invested some money, and now we’re looking at losses. I can’t face them, otherwise, I wouldn’t be so anxious.”

The middle-aged man said helplessly.

Zhou Wang recalled that his grandmother’s family didn’t grow fruits, but his uncle’s family was a major fruit grower in Zhao Village. Didn’t this mean his uncle was also scammed?

The so-called “returns and exchanges” were obviously a contract trap, as they couldn’t avoid the risk of falsified streaming orders. Anyone with a bit of knowledge would surely include similar restrictive clauses.

Only these rural folks, who didn’t understand such complexities, would sign such a contract.

“Brother Dog, is this Mr. Zhao your friend?”

At this point, Yang Zhen, who had understood the situation, walked over with a frown and asked.

“He’s my fellow townsman; we just met downstairs.”

Zhou Wang couldn’t be sure if the contract constituted fraud, so he didn’t say much. He just asked politely, “Mr. Yang, are you certain there isn’t any amount they can recover?”

Upon hearing they were merely Zhou Wang’s fellow countrymen, Yang Zhen couldn’t help but feel annoyed. Are you meddling too much?

Yang Zhen was already dissatisfied with Zhou Wang because of earlier events, and now he felt even more discontent.

However, he didn’t show it. Instead, he pretended to ponder and said, “These are contracts signed by the sales department. I’m not really sure about the specifics, but since the contract is signed, if Mr. Zhao has any concerns, the best approach would probably be to have a lawyer liaise with our legal department.”

Yang Zhen’s words were as good as saying nothing, clearly shirking responsibility.

“Mr. Zhao, perhaps you should really consult a lawyer. If you need reliable legal services, I can help you find someone.”

Zhou Wang thought this might be a feasible solution and sincerely suggested to the middle-aged man.

“It seems there is no other way… Mr. Yang, is that right? Since the negotiations have failed, we might indeed have to meet in court.”

The middle-aged man sighed, recognizing Yang Zhen’s position, but he didn’t continue to argue, only saying in a somewhat cold tone.

Yang Zhen merely laughed it off indifferently and then turned to Zhou Wang, saying, “Well, Brother Dog, I won’t see you out then. I have a meeting to attend.”

“Okay.”

Zhou Wang nodded, and after Yang Zhen went inside with the other employees, he headed toward the elevator. The middle-aged man and the driver followed him.

“Brother, thank you no matter what. It seems our issue also affected your relationship with your friend. I’m really sorry!”

“No worries.”

After seeing the contract, Zhou Wang completely lost any goodwill toward Yang Zhen.

Making money is one thing, but scamming farmers out of their money is just too low…

They made their way downstairs, where Zhou Wang politely declined the middle-aged man’s invitation to have a meal together, exchanged contact details, waved goodbye, and got into his Bentley to drive away.

“Wow, the Bentley actually belongs to this young man…”

The driver, for the first time, appeared truly shocked.

“I guessed it when the car pulled in, just look at his attire and demeanor.”

Zhao Shusheng shook his head and then wondered aloud, “Strange, I haven’t heard of anyone’s grandson in Zhao Village being this accomplished…”

…

Zhou Wang, waiting at a traffic light, finally heard the system notification.
