Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Lin Moyu sat alone outside the city for a long time, contemplating everything that had happened.

He carefully sorted through every piece of information he had seen, heard, and experienced, gathering it all together before conducting a thorough analysis.

If what the Demon Emperor Lilian had said was true, then she had been maintaining the balance among the three factions all these years.

After working with humanity to drive out the Dragonkind, she had possessed the strength to wipe out the humans.

Even if Antares’s presence meant she couldn’t completely eradicate them, she could still have occupied the vast majority of the Human World.

Humanity could have been reduced to livestock, forever incapable of rising again.

Antares would not have intervened. He had made it very clear that his only responsibility was to ensure humanity did not go extinct, nothing more.

Yet the Demon Emperor Lilian had chosen not to do so.

Instead, she killed several high-tier Demon Kings, deliberately creating the illusion that humans still possessed powerful experts.

This forced the originally reckless Demon Kings to grow cautious, gradually establishing a fragile balance between the Demons and the humans.

Because of that, humanity had continued to develop over the past 1,000 years. Though still weaker than the Demons, the gap between them was no longer insurmountable.

More than 600 years ago, when Jiang Yi descended from the world beyond, Lilian discovered him.

Fearing that he might advance to Transcendent God-level and shatter the equilibrium, she orchestrated an ambush to eliminate him.

Balance… that had been her goal all along.

Following this line of reasoning, the one who had truly allowed humanity to survive and grow in this age was actually her.

It sounded absurd, almost laughable, but it was the truth.

Lin Moyu had already confirmed these matters with Antares.

The enemy humanity hated the most was, in reality, the mastermind behind the scenes who had given them the space to survive.

“How ironic.”

Lin Moyu knew he could never speak of this openly. Even if he did, no one would believe him.

More importantly, he realized that the position he stood in had changed.

And once one’s position changed, so too did the things one saw and the way one thought.

In the past, he believed the Demon Worship Society was a massive tumor within humanity, something that had to be eradicated before it brought catastrophe.

But now, looking at the bigger picture, the Demon Worship Society was insignificant.

It had no impact on the balance between the two parties, nor could it shake the foundation of the humans.

At best, it was like a cockroach—dirty, unpleasant, but nothing more than that.

In the Demon Emperor Lilian’s eyes, it was even less than that: merely a toy that could be discarded at any moment.

Thus, before their cooperation had even truly begun, she abandoned the Demon Worship Society as a gesture of goodwill.

Standing at a different height and viewing the world from above, Lin Moyu realized that his heart had hardened.

Now he had to make a choice. Should he cling to the hatred of the past and fight the Demons to the bitter end, or should he cooperate with them so that the humans could live peacefully in the future?

A decision had to be made.

And it was not a decision meant for the masses. Only a handful of people were qualified to make such a choice.

There was no point in telling too many others.

After thinking for a long time, Lin Moyu left the Immemorial Battlefield and returned to the Human World, back to the White God Courtyard.

During the days he had been away, the Human World had gradually settled down and returned to normal.

The atmosphere of peace that had accumulated over centuries slowly resurfaced after the brief turmoil.

After several days of work, Meng Anwen, Bai Yiyuan, and the others finally found some time to rest.

At that moment, they and Yan Kuangsheng were sitting in the courtyard drinking tea.

As for the mass suicide incident that had occurred half a day earlier, it had barely affected the Shenxia Empire.

The nearly 10,000 deaths were mostly concentrated in other nations and factions.

After all, the previous purge had already eliminated a large number of Demon Worship Society members within the empire.

As soon as Lin Moyu returned, Meng Anwen spoke, “Moyu, the investigation is complete. The people who committed suicide earlier were indeed Demon Worship Society members.”

“They were hidden extremely well. They slipped through the net during the last purge.”

Bai Yiyuan said in a low voice, “I didn’t expect the Demon Worship Society to hide so deeply. These were sleeper agents who had remained dormant for years. There was no way for us to detect them.”

Yan Kuangsheng chuckled and jabbed at Bai Yiyuan, “Just admit you were blind. Don’t go blaming it on sleeper agents.”

Bai Yiyuan snorted and shot him a glare, but surprisingly, he held back this time and didn’t argue.

Meng Anwen then asked, “Moyu, you left in such a hurry earlier. Did something happen?”

Lin Moyu sat down, poured tea for the three of them, and then filled a cup for himself.

“I had a discussion with Lilian about some matters.”

The three of them froze at the same time.

Lilian? Who was that?

None of them had ever heard the name before. It didn’t appear anywhere in the historical records of the human race.

Lin Moyu explained, “Lilian is the Demon Emperor.”

The words struck like thunder.

Bai Yiyuan spat out his tea, spraying it straight onto Yan Kuangsheng’s face. His expression turned pale.

“You went to see the Demon Emperor?”

Lin Moyu nodded, “Yes. I even visited the Demon Emperor’s Palace.”

The Demon Emperor’s Palace…

Lin Moyu’s casual remark sent chills down their spines.

Going to the Abyss was already terrifying enough, yet he had gone straight to the Demon Emperor’s Palace and returned completely unharmed.

The three exchanged glances, finally realizing that their disciple had reached a height far beyond them.

Within the human race, Lin Moyu was the only person qualified to speak with Antares as an equal.

And throughout human history, he was the first to enter the Demon Emperor’s Palace and walk away alive.

Meng Anwen slowly took a deep breath to steady himself, “What did you discuss with the Demon Emperor?”

Lin Moyu replied slowly, “The Demon Emperor wants to cooperate with me…”

He then recounted the Demon Emperor’s proposal.

However, he deliberately withheld his own thoughts, worried that revealing them might influence Meng Anwen and the others.

As they listened, their expressions shifted constantly, as though they were hearing some unbelievable myth.

It was difficult to imagine that such a massive gap could exist within human history.

But Lin Moyu knew that even without interference, history was never perfectly accurate.

And behind the human race, there had always been someone manipulating events from the shadows.

After a long while, Meng Anwen finally let out a deep sigh.

“When I studied human history in the past, I always felt something wasn’t quite right.”

“1,000 years ago, the human race was weak, the weakest among the three races. Especially after the Dragonkind were expelled, we had to face the Abyssal Demons alone. To be honest, we had no chance of winning.”

“Yet the Abyssal Demons never destroyed us, even when they had the opportunity.”

“Historical records mention the mysterious deaths of several Demon Kings, with speculation that hidden human powerhouses were responsible. I never expected it was actually the Demon Emperor...”

Lin Moyu’s revelation completely overturned their understanding of history.

Because of Antares’s existence, they knew Lin Moyu’s words had to be true.

Antares had existed for an unknown length of time and had witnessed the rise and fall of the human race during this age.

History might be wrong. But Antares would not be.

Bai Yiyuan frowned, “So… does that mean the Demon Emperor has actually helped humanity?”

Lin Moyu nodded, “She has her own motives, but the fact remains—she has indeed benefited humanity.”

Meng Anwen said, “According to her, the nature of the Abyssal Demons is to bring destruction. She cannot openly stop the other Demons. To maintain balance, she could only intervene in this way.”

“In reality, she gave the human race time to breathe and develop. And her hands are not stained with human blood.”

“As for this cooperation, I believe it’s feasible.”
