My Cards are Infinitely Refreshed

194: Double-edged sword mechanism, duel with the Black Light Mercenary GroupChapter 194: Double-Edged Sword Mechanism, Confronting the Blacklight Mercenary Group

Another point is for cards with energy bars, such as Persistence and Chasing Wind.

If they are flipped face down and then revealed again, their Charge status will not change.

If it was 10/30 before being flipped face down, it will still be 10/30 when revealed in the same position.

However, if it’s replaced after being flipped face down, then the energy will reset to 0.

For example, if card A in position A is flipped face down by 【Breakthrough Strike】 when its status is 90/100, 10/30.

If in the next turn, card B is revealed in position A, and card B is not a Wise card but another energy card, then its status will be 90/100, 0/30.

But it’s important to note that if card A is revealed again in position B, it will become 90/100, 10/30.

Actively flipping cards face down to change positions comes with a small cost.

In summary, Shi Li believes the 【Breakthrough Strike】 of the Breaker card needs to be used cautiously.

It’s best to reveal it in the early to mid-game.

By flipping cards face down, you can consume the opponent’s reveal quota, achieving the goal of having more revealed cards than the opponent. From this perspective, it is very powerful.

Although your card can still act after being attacked by 【Breakthrough Strike】, not wasting an action quota.

But if your outer card is flipped face down, you must reveal an outer card in that position again.

Otherwise, in the next turn, your flipped card will easily be instantly killed.

Secondly, in individual cases, this 【Breakthrough Strike】 can also be used to replace your own cards.

For example, if bo shan is at risk of being destroyed, but its energy is not yet enough for fusion.

Then you can flip it face down and move it to the back row to slowly recover.

However, one point to note is that this would mean the Breaker essentially wastes an action quota on its own ally.

Overall, it’s still the same saying: a double-edged sword, use with caution.

With only a little cubic coins left, it’s definitely not enough to complete the unique mission for Withering Dragon’s main hand card.

Shi Li decided to try the newly opened 【Momentum Trial】.

Opening the panel, an entrance for 【Momentum Trial】 was added.

【Enter Momentum Trial.】

【Only Momentum cards can be used in this trial.】

【You pass if you eliminate enemies within the attack count of 3 for the cards deployed in this match.】

【Trial 0-1 is about to begin. Please select your deployed character card.】

The requirements for the Momentum Tower were somewhat different.

The Persistence Tower required surviving turns, while it required eliminating enemies within a certain number of attacks.

In Shi Li’s opinion, the Momentum Tower’s requirements were relatively more difficult.

An evenly distributed card with 30 attack can only deal 90 damage in 3 turns.

This means it needs to trigger an damage-increasing skill in at least 1 turn, or carry a special attack Characteristic.

For this first stage, only 1 card can be deployed.

Shi Li’s only Momentum cards, Flower Cudgel Leader and Breaker, couldn’t do it.

Flower Cudgel Leader was over the 40-point limit and couldn’t be deployed, while Breaker could only deal 10% damage per turn, making it impossible to complete the mission.

However, for Shi Li, this stage was not difficult.

He had already prepared the corresponding card.

【Thunderhorn Deer】

Momentum type, 30 points, two-star attack 30, 100/100, 0/30

【Horn Break - Passive】: If Thunderhorn Deer attacks 1 target twice in a turn, it triggers the 【Flaw】 effect (T2).

【Heavy Strike - 20 Energy】: Thunderhorn Deer attacks 1 time, dealing an additional 10 damage (【Flaw】: Target cannot use 【Defense】).

This 【Heavy Strike】 was the Characteristic he had specifically prepared for the Momentum Tower.

Although the energy consumption was high and the returns low, with cheap materials and cheap character cards, he wasn’t asking for much.

First turn, normal attack 30 damage, energy 10/30.

Second turn, normal attack 30 damage, energy 20/30.

Third turn, activate skill 40 damage.

Mission complete.

Upon reaching the second stage, Shi Li’s deck made rapid progress.

The 20-point Breaker paired with the 40-point Flower Cudgel Leader.

Breaker didn’t even need to exert itself; it was just a tool to lower the score quota.

First turn, Flower Cudgel Leader attacks target A, 60 damage, energy 10/20.

Second turn, Flower Cudgel Leader uses Gun Shadow Combo on target B, 120 damage, an instant kill, energy 20/20.

Third turn, Flower Cudgel Leader attacks target A for 40 damage.

Mission complete.

He swept through the stages very smoothly.

He only stopped after completing 【2-9】, seeing that he didn’t have enough cubic coins to refresh for 【2-10】.

After finishing these, he returned to the Chess Domain.

A few days later, Leo came knocking at the appointed time.

”This time, the gold group is a 50-person dungeon, with 5 boss slots.

Our 44th team, along with the 21st, 27th, and 32nd teams, will provide the damage dealers, about 10 people per team.

We’ve also found the 5 bosses.”

Leo explained as they walked towards the dungeon plaza.

”How many small teams are there in our group?”

Shi Li asked curiously.

”Our group is divided into 15 large teams, and each large team has fewer than 10 small teams.

For each affiliated small team, the first digit belongs to its large team. The second digit is its ranking within the team.”

”So our 44th team is the 4th ranked team in the 4th large team?”

”That’s right. If our performance surpasses the teams ahead of us, our team ranking will improve in the next quarter’s settlement.

The same applies to the large teams.”

”Then how many teams are in our 4th large team?”

”Uh—six.”

Leo stammered a bit.

”Brother Leo, you’re not pulling your weight.”

Shi Li finally understood.

This meant that their large team ranked 4th among the 5 large teams last quarter, and their 4th small team ranked third from the bottom in the 4th large team.

”In fact, besides the teams from the various large teams, our group also has a 0th small team where the group leader is located.”

Facing the awkwardness, Leo chose to change the subject: ”That’s an elite team of no more than 10 people, specializing in tackling those small and medium-sized ultra-high difficulty dungeons.

The lowest rank among them is at least a Platinum 10 or higher chess player, and the group leader and one of the deputy group leaders have even reached the Diamond rank.”

As he spoke, a look of longing appeared on his face.

Every loyal member of the Scarlet Mercenary Group hoped to one day join the 0th small team.

Even if they didn’t join, just having cleared a dungeon with them would be bragging rights.

”That’s very impressive.”

Although Shi Li knew that the native residents of the Chess Domain found it relatively easier to advance in rank.

But a Diamond chess player, no matter what, had more prestige than an outside Emerald card player.

As the two spoke, they arrived at their destination.

The dungeon plaza was bustling with people, and it seemed a dispute was underway.

”Let’s go, let’s watch the excitement.”

Don’t let Leo’s calm demeanor fool you; that was just his facade for outsiders.

When it came to gossip, he was more than happy to indulge.

However, after pushing through the crowd, he found that the gossip was about their own group.

At this moment, several people wearing flame badges were confronting several people wearing black circular badges.

Among those involved in the confrontation, Kane was conspicuously present.

The flame emblem, of course, belonged to their Scarlet Mercenary Group.

Shi Li recognized this; even he himself was given one after joining the group.

But he didn’t know which mercenary group the black badge represented.

However, Shi Li guessed that since they dared to oppose the Scarlet Mercenary Group, they must be quite influential.

”Kane, what’s going on now?”

Leo walked forward with Shi Li.

”Captain, you’re finally here.”

Kane felt a sense of relief.

After all, among the people confronting each other, he was the only one who wasn’t a captain-level.

He felt a bit of pressure, overwhelmed by the aura.

”These guys from Blacklight are trying to steal our patrons!”

He said.

Blacklight? Blacklight Mercenary Group?

Shi Li raised an eyebrow.

Curator Chi had previously introduced them, saying the Blacklight Mercenary Group was also one of the ten major mercenary groups in Shi Lei Country, even ranking third, higher than the Scarlet Mercenary Group.

However, he heard they acted discreetly in the Chess Domain, and Shi Li had indeed not passively heard any negative rumors about them.

Kane then quietly explained the situation to Leo.

Originally, bosses joining a gold group had to pay an entry fee.

This rule was mainly to prevent people from mixing in under the guise of consumption, then using ”no desired items” as an excuse not to spend.

In reality, such incidents were common; some ”bosses” simply wanted to enter the dungeon for their own missions and had no intention of spending.

Therefore, gold groups established by more reputable or well-known mercenary groups would set an ”admission fee.”

But today, these guys from the Blacklight Society seemed to be deliberately opposing the Scarlet Mercenary Group.

They were using the absence of an admission fee as leverage, trying to poach the bosses Leo and his team had found.

It’s important to know that the admission fee wasn’t a trivial amount of cubic coins; Leo and his team typically set it at 5000 cubic coins.

With one side not charging and the other charging, the bosses weren’t fools, so they were naturally swayed.

The bosses also knew that the Blacklight Society’s actions clearly broke the rules.

But then again, no one’s cubic coins grew on trees, and they naturally wanted to save money.

However, since they had already promised the Scarlet Mercenary Group, breaking the agreement would be a breach of contract and they were somewhat afraid of offending the Scarlet Mercenary Group.

So, with the bosses not speaking up, both sides were at a stalemate.

”I’d say, your group’s pioneering progress in 【City of Corpses】 has only reached the 5th area, right?”

”With that level of progress, you still have the nerve to open a gold group?”

The Blacklight Society continued to mock them.

But in reality, everyone understood that 【City of Corpses】 most likely only had 6 areas.

And if they brought a few bosses, they could at most only clear the first 14 areas.

So, whether they pioneered to area 5 or 6, it made no practical difference.

”How about we stop arguing?”

Leo knew that continuing like this would only waste time, so he stepped forward and said, ”Since that’s the case, let’s resolve it the way of chess players.”

At these words, the members of the Blacklight Society fell silent.

Members of the Blacklight Society were not necessarily members of the Blacklight Society, nor were they necessarily Fel Energy chess players.

Most of them were still native residents of the Chess Domain.

In the Chess Domain, when a dispute arises between two parties, if one proposes a chess game and the other dares not accept the challenge, it is considered extremely shameful.

They would be ridiculed and seen as cowards.

”Heh heh, Leo, you’re a bit overestimating yourself today.”

”Bring it on.”

”Tell us, how do we play?”

Someone from the Blacklight side responded.

When it came to a fight, they certainly weren’t afraid.

The opposing side also seemed to be configured with four small teams, because the four leading individuals clearly had higher ranks than the other team members, averaging Diamond 7.

Whereas the captains on the Scarlet Mercenary Group’s side only averaged Diamond 5.

But since Leo had already spoken, they naturally wouldn’t back down; their honor was intertwined.

”I suggest you don’t break the rules. The admission fee remains the same, and whichever side wins gets the order.

4V4, 8 chess games.”

The captain of the 21st team was a hot-tempered blonde woman, with a rank of Diamond 7.

The so-called 4V4 + 8 chess games meant that each side would send out four chess players, with each person deploying 2 battle chess pieces.

As for the points, it was the usual 830 = 240 points.

”You overconfident fools, get ready to roll out with your people.”

The Blacklight side accepted.

The battle between the two sides was imminent, and even the few bosses became excited.

Since they were there to join a gold group, they certainly weren’t short of 5000 cubic coins.

Now, they would just consider it as paying the admission fee, and then getting to watch an extra show. Why not?

So, everyone made way, clearing an open space for easy viewing.

The four captains from the Scarlet Mercenary Group and the Blacklight Society stood opposite each other, preparing to discuss their strategy.

PVP chess games are slightly different from PVE chess games, typically using a 3+1 + 1+1 + 1+1 mode.

That is, it’s somewhat like a cubic card game, but without the presence of a trump card; the side that is completely wiped out is considered defeated.

”How about this: each of us deploys 1 damage-absorbing chess piece, then Leo and I each deploy 1 output chess piece, and you two each deploy 1 Healing chess piece?”

The 21st captain, being the highest ranked among the four, naturally took the lead in speaking.

However, she wasn’t trying to monopolize the conversation, as Leo was older and more experienced than her.

”Wait a moment.”

Leo had something to say, attracting the attention of the other three.

”I won’t be participating in this match.”

He said, meeting their gaze.

”What do you mean? Wasn’t the chess match your idea?”

”Old Leo, you’re not thinking of retiring, are you?”

”This isn’t like you.”

The three immediately pressed him.

”That’s not what I meant.”

Leo didn’t expect their reaction to be so strong and quickly waved his hand, saying, ”I mean, I’m having someone else take my place.”

”Oh?” 3

The three were stunned at his words.

”Wang Defa, you come.”

Then, Shi Li was pushed in front of the three by Leo.

In fact, when Leo said he wanted someone to replace him, it wasn’t that none of the three thought of Shi Li.

This new face, wearing the flame badge, must be the newest recruit of the 44th team.

But the problem was Platinum 13?

Are you sure he can fight?

Leo naturally took in the reactions of the three captains.

He just chuckled inwardly.

Platinum 13 was just an appearance.

He had later inquired with Kairala and learned that Shi Li possessed at least 5 Characteristic battle chess pieces.

In other words, the strength of this guy’s chess set could at least match that of an ordinary Diamond 5.

Anyone who underestimated him would definitely suffer.

He had originally planned to surprise the others once they entered the dungeon.

Now, it was even better; there was even a chance to mess with these bastards from the Blacklight Society, which would be even more satisfying.

”We’re old comrades; trust me.”

Seeing the suspicious gazes of the three captains, Leo waved his hand: ”Just treat him as me; cooperate with him as you would with me.”

Since he had said so much, they temporarily suppressed their doubts.

Leo was a reliable person and wouldn’t joke about the interests of dozens of brothers in such a matter.
