Pillar of Yita

The Nightingale was quite extraordinary, even in its final moments, it managed to block an Energy Angel’s attack. But after a spark, the other blade arm of the Energy Angel pierced into its throat. The Nightingale widened its eyes, seemingly not expecting to die at the hands of such a newcomer.

A gurgling sound came from its throat, it struggled briefly, and then transformed into dots of white light.

Fang Hong finally slumped against the wall, feeling weak all over.

He glanced at the readings on his glove, fifteen left. That means if this strike didn’t hit, the remaining magic power would only be enough to control the Clockwork Fairy twice.

”Ade,” Miya said: ”You fought well.”

...

The leader quietly watched the team interface, Nightingale’s name flickered, and then dimmed.

The four remaining members fell silent, looking at each other. The one who had been crying non-stop couldn’t help but look at the others, and after a while, asked: ”What’s the situation?”

”Is there an ambush inside?” another person tentatively asked: ”Otherwise, Yu Fei couldn’t even send a message?”

The leader waved his hand, signaling the others not to speak for now.

He looked at his Communication Crystal, where a slightly static inquiry was coming from — Qing’s voice: ”What’s going on, facing any troubles?” Explosion sounds occasionally transmitted from the crystal, obviously, the fight outside was fierce.

”Nothing much,” the leader replied: ”There might be an ambush inside, Yu Fei is down.”

”Just now.”

The leader nodded.

Qing cautioned: ”Be careful.”

The leader then put away the Communication Crystal, looking at the others. The crying person thought for a moment and asked: ”Should we wait for Yu Fei to revive, and ask about the situation inside?”

”Quarter-hour,” the leader replied: ”Qing’s team wants to join us; if they arrive and we haven’t dealt with the enemy, would you have any face? You all saw that young man just now, at that age, how high could his level be?”

He raised his Heavy Shield, lightly pointing to the front: ”I’ll lead, Flying, you cover us, the rest follow me. If there’s an ambush inside, I’ll take the first wave of attacks, try to counterattack, and if there are too many enemies, at least you can inform Qing’s team.”

Everyone fell silent, nodding.

At the same moment, R was questioning Fang Hong.

”How many people are outside?”

”Three,” Fang Hong answered: ”Or four.”

”How many exactly?”

”I used the Screeching Banshee’s Flash Bomb before, saw three at that moment, but I’m not sure if I missed one,” Fang Hong replied. As he answered, he channeled the last bit of magic power from the Main Crystal into ’Pride of the Lonely King’ and Flexible Construct. Then pulled the crystal out from the Magic Guided Reactor and tossed it aside.

The crystal’s glow completely faded.

”Then it’s four,” R replied: ”Consider every possibility, I have told you before.”

Fang Hong nodded.

R faced Miya’s direction, the two seemed to exchange opinions in silence.

”If they’re all at the Nightingale’s level,” Miya made a judgment, replied: ”This fight will be challenging.”

She looked at the other: ”Is there a chance?”

”There’s a chance.” R replied: ”But unless we personally intervene, through voice commands it’s still a bit slow.”

”Ade’s combat intuition is very good.”

”I know that better than you,” R replied: ”But it’s useless, the level difference is hard to overcome. Plus, after one ambush, the remaining ones won’t fall for it again easily.”

He looked at Fang Hong, asked: ”What do you think?”

Fang Hong shook his head: ”...I don’t know, teacher, my magic power is nearly depleted.”

”Ade, can those surrounding Black Crystals be used?” Miya asked at this time.

”I don’t know,” Fang Hong shook his head again: ”Miss Miya, they might be left by Nikopolas with Dark Magic Power, although Dark Magic Power is a type of magic power. But, I’m worried that I lack Dark Magic Power Affinity, not sure if I can use them...”

He couldn’t help but glance at those dark crystals in the shadows.

In fact, he wasn’t entirely uncertain, as he still had Nini and the power from the Ring of Golden Flame; if his and Elisa’s judgment weren’t wrong — perhaps he could indeed use Nini’s help to wield Dark Magic Power.

He glanced again at his attribute panel, in the Elemental Affinity column, the marker of an unknown element (1) stood out so prominently.

”Then give it a try.”

R replied.

Fang Hong made up his mind: ”Okay, I’ll give it a try.”

Just as he spoke, he heard a soft voice from beside him: ”Mr. Ade, is what you said just now true?”

It was Eve’s voice.

Fang Hong was taken aback, instinctively looked up. In the darkness, he couldn’t see the girl’s appearance, only felt slightly puzzled, hadn’t he made it clear before? Why was the other so concerned about this matter?

However, he was not impatient, only said: ”Of course it’s true, in fact, I’m about to try using them, Eve. Dark Magic Power is just a type of magic power, nothing more — but I might be repelled by the magic power due to lacking Elemental Affinity.”

”However, the notion that using Dark Magic Power leads to falling,” Fang Hong shook his head: ”I’ve never heard of it, mainstream Ether Theory also doesn’t state that.”

Eve then cautiously, asked softly: ”Mr. Ade, is all Dark Magic Power like this?”

”Certainly, what difference could there be between magic powers?”

Fang Hong answered without thinking.

Just as he finished speaking, suddenly a bright light appeared before him. In the darkness, he saw a cluster of golden flames rising from between the girl’s hands — the light illuminating her snow-white cheeks, she was closing her eyes, her long eyelashes gently trembling.

She held up her hands, lifting the flames to Fang Hong’s face.

Fang Hong’s eyes widened.

Because he clearly saw, the flames reflected in his eyes weren’t conjured from thin air in the girl’s hands but were burning from the ordinary ring on her hand, rising, then transforming into a distinctly angular, narrow pupil.

The golden eye seemed to part the darkness, the intense flames contained within coldly observing everything in the world.

The girl quietly closed her eyes, cradling the golden flames, spoke to Fang Hong: ”If Mr. Ade doesn’t mind, can you use this kind of magic power...?”

”Golden Star Fire—” Miya’s voice was slightly surprised, she couldn’t help but curiously glance at Fang Hong: ”Who is she?”

”Wow!” R, on the other hand, looked dumbstruck at the scene: ”How did you trigger this storyline!?”

But Fang Hong did not answer.

He also stared at the flames, raised his hand, gently touched something on his chest. Then he looked at the other, asked: ”Is this your power, Eve?”

The girl seemed a bit uneasy, but still nodded.

”Do you want me to use this power?”

”Can’t I... Mr. Ade?”

”No,” Fang Hong answered: ”I’ll try.”
