Pillar of Yita

Fang Hong diverted his attention from his system and saw the girl wrapping up a few leftover biscuits with a handkerchief, carefully putting them away. She quietly lifted her head, eyes still closed, and asked, ”Mister, were you lost in thought earlier? Why haven’t you spoken?”

”I was conversing with a friend,” Fang Hong thought for a moment and replied.

The girl tilted her head slightly, looking puzzled, ”Is there anyone else here?”

”Not exactly, I’m an Invoker. There’s a special way of communication between us that allows real-time text interactions across regions,” Fang Hong increasingly felt the other party was from a century ago, so he explained simply, ”Have you ever heard of the Invoker?”

The girl thought silently for a moment, then shook her head.

Fang Hong was a bit surprised; logically, he shouldn’t be the first Invoker she encountered. But he saw in the chat bar, R was typing: ”What’s the point of telling her about this, she was born in the era of Yoshude, back then there were no Stargates—”

Suddenly he realized, ordinary people wouldn’t tell this girl about such a thing. In fact, most Invokers would choose to hide their advantage in front of Natives, but now more and more Natives are beginning to understand the Invoker’s system.

But this girl was an exception.

”Then have you heard of the Holy Chooser?”

”Ah, so you are the Holy Chooser,” the girl seemed a bit surprised, ”Has the Holy Chooser arrived in our world?”

Fang Hong was even more surprised, ”You know about us?”

”The one chosen by the Supreme Saint,” the girl answered, ”I also forgot where I heard about it, but the prophecy says when the Holy Chooser descends into our world, the fate of our clan is sealed.”

”Are you a descendant of the Dragonslayers?”

The girl chuckled, ”Lord Holy Chooser indeed knows everything.”

”By the way, I’m called Ade,” Fang Hong tried to elicit her name.

The girl, unguarded, just smiled and said, ”Me, I seem to be called Eve.”

”Seem to be?”

The girl laughed lightly again, ”I’ve stayed here so long, no one has addressed me by name. Sometimes I have to remind myself of my name—though over the long years, I’m not sure if I’ve remembered it incorrectly.”

”Alright then, Eve—can I call you that,” Fang Hong asked, ”What is the prophecy you mentioned?”

”It’s alright, Lord Holy Chooser, it’s an ancient prophecy of the Oathkeeper Clan, but it existed even back in the Numelin Elves’ era. The Fairies once forged five Holy Swords for us. Before consuming Dragon Blood, the Numelin Elves present at the time had already informed our ancestors about it all.”

”You mean, the Numelin Elves foresaw all of this?”

The girl shook her head, ”The Elves only told our ancestors that the Holy Chooser had once come to this world. But they’re not quite like you; the arrival of each generation of Holy Chooser is inevitable for our world.”

This notion was also mentioned by Tata, that Eteliria has more than one generation of Holy Chooser. However, he had never heard of differences among the Holy Chosens, which Fang Hong found a bit unexpected, ”Eve, do you know what we look like?”

The girl, still facing him with closed eyes, shook her head and said, ”I don’t know, but the Numelin Elves told us—you shouldn’t be much different from us. We were born in your image, God foresaw it all and thus created the image of today’s mortals.”

Fang Hong was extremely shocked, ”How is that possible?”

”I’m not sure,” the girl answered with a gentle smile, ”but the Numelin Elves told our ancestors this, so Lord Holy Chooser, I can’t see you, may I ask if you look like me?”

Fang Hong was left speechless; he certainly didn’t look like this girl in front of him, but there was indeed a great similarity between humans of the two worlds. Moreover, many creatures in this world either existed or are extinct on Earth.

This is also why many biologists and paleontologists are fascinated with Eteliria, and his thesis on the ecology of Eteliria will focus on this.

Fang Hong fell silent for a moment, but was privately conversing with R, typing:

”Does this count as a new clue?”

”As for the relationship between the Oathkeepers and the Numelin Elves, it does, but not the origin of the Holy Choosers. The relationship between Invokers and this world has been deeply researched on Earth,” R thought for a moment and then replied, ”However, no one knew there was such a prophecy among the Oathkeepers, bringing this segment to Stargate Port can earn you quite a few points for such an original discovery.”

”But at least it shows a lot remains to be explored from past discoveries, doesn’t it?” On this point, Fang Hong was quite insistent: ”So there is still room for the possibility of new clues.”

R was between laughter and tears, ”You’re still so naive. When I said new clues, I meant relevant to this task chain. Random clues are everywhere, what’s the point of exploring them? Of course, they might come in handy in the future, but they’re unrelated to the current task, right?”

Fang Hong retorted indignantly, ”But what if they are?”

R rolled his eyes, ”You’re already foolish enough, do as you please...”

At this point, the girl keenly sensed something, asking, ”Lord Holy Chooser, are you conversing with a friend again?”
