Pillar of Yita

The High-Effect Illuminating Bomb is an F-Level Alchemy Product related to Potion Studies, triggered by non-magical channel inertial triggering, which makes it easily usable by the general public as a typical simple alchemy prop.

Ordinary people rarely think to use it in this way. Though there had been innovative attempts in the past, most records of its use in actual combat were not particularly successful. Fang Hong, in fact, had been impressed by this item during a battle at the Elf Ruins and hence tried his hand at making a few as spares beforehand, not expecting them to come in handy here.

He had made a total of three, but two of them had been water-damaged during a previous battle on a rainy night, making them unusable. The last one, well-protected as it was mounted on a hand crossbow, remained.

His Potion Studies level was not high, and he could only make yellow-green illumination bombs, with a brightness of 250,000 candlepower, lasting twenty-five seconds. Yet at such close range, they could still have some of the effects of a Flash bomb.

Moreover, what was better than the Flash bomb was that, although bright, it would trigger countermeasures against brightness from the Magic Wind Goggles usually equipped by Gunslingers, coupled with the clarity resistance provided by the Hawkeye skill for ranged professions, often diminishing its effectiveness.

However, the light from the High-Effect Illuminating Bomb persisted, and its intensity was not enough to trigger the light resistance countermeasures of the Magic Wind Goggles. With the light source being closer, it could surprisingly affect high-level characters in a dark environment.

By comparison, Flash bombs only performed better in lower-level combat.

He certainly didn’t expect the bomb to completely paralyze the combat abilities of the opposing ranged professions as a true blinding effect might, but reducing their shooting accuracy to a certain extent was already sufficient.

Moreover, the illumination bomb exposed the members of the Dragonfire Guild under the light, which might also be considered a not-so-advantageous advantage.

As if to prove his theory.

The opposing shooting accuracy indeed dropped, and the subsequent third round of firing became non-targeted, with many bullets hitting the empty ground.

Red Leaf then had the chance to raise her head and shout angrily at the opponents, ”Scum of the Dragonfire Guild, you actually consort with cultists. Don’t you know that this violates the Stargate Declaration?”

Fang Hong was somewhat surprised; he had thought that, given the size of the Dragonfire Guild, these words would more or less have an impact on the opponents. They would either retaliate or withdraw, but the people opposite acted as if they hadn’t heard at all and continued firing another volley of bullets.

”These people are utterly insane!” Recall couldn’t help but curse quietly.

Nevertheless, Fang Hong’s illumination bomb clearly had the intended effect, as this round of attacks also lacked accuracy.

The pressure on the front row of Tabopolis Knights suddenly decreased, and amidst the crowd, Recall seized the opportunity to order an assault. To prevent the Dragonfire Guild from discerning their intentions, he issued the orders through the guild channel and simultaneously sent a team invitation to Fang Hong and others.

After two rounds of firing, the Gunslinger Commander from the Dragonfire Guild also realized the problem. While ordering the Gunslingers to maintain low-intensity shooting, he also had them start adjusting the filters of the Magic Wind Goggles in batches.

However, these ancient Magic Wind Goggles often needed manual adjustment, and it might take a while to return to the previous density of fire.

What made the commander anxious was — although they still held the initiative on the battlefield, their tactical goal was not just to ’hold the initiative’ but to prevent the opponent’s escape.

But the damn illumination bomb had obviously created a significant problem for them.

He was cursively tempted to curse whoever came up with this unethical idea of using the illumination bomb as a Flash bomb, which of course was not enough to let these damned Tabopolis Knights turn defeat into victory — but for escaping, it was more than suitable.

”Get someone to cover up the light source.” At this moment, a voice came from the side.

The Commander looked towards him, the person was that Assassin who had once had an encounter with Fang Hong. He quickly nodded, knowing this person was Big Sister’s trusted subordinate, and the former was the Chairman’s girlfriend, not someone he could afford to offend.

Indeed it was a solution.

Yet, the first person sent to cover the illumination bomb was immediately pinned down by an arrow from Recall, reminding the two of the Nighthawk Summoner on the other side.

Seeing this scene, the Shadow quickly shut his mouth, unable to come up with any better tactics.

Although everyone involved in this operation from the Dragonfire Guild was a core member and elite, the average level was naturally much higher than that of the two main Tabopolis groups, and since they had the element of surprise and more manpower.

But to say that they had a Guild member with a higher level than this Nighthawk of Recall was laughable.

The Nighthawk Summoner hailed from the ’Unicorn’ regiment of the Oak Knights; the Dragonfire Guild didn’t even have its own regiment yet, although there was a budding one, with Shadow being one of the prospective members. But to compare it with ’Unicorn,’ he was wise enough to know his limits.

The recent battles in the Phantom Realm made this clear; had it not been for that elusive Nighthawk, how could Tabopolis, with its total disadvantage in strength and manpower, have managed to hold Grey Oak Square?
