Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Python Scale Armor Set

Back at the treehouse, Xu Xin eagerly rushed to his weapon and armor crafting station.

He wanted to use the giant anaconda scales to make a set of purple-grade armor!

Opening the list, there were a few crafting options quietly added to the list.

[Anaconda Scale Armor (Purple): Powerful and resilient armor, wearing it ensures no beast can break your defense! Requires Giant Anaconda Scale (Purple) *1, Iron Block (Blue) *3]

[Anaconda Scale Helmet (Purple): Won’t die even with a headshot! Requires Giant Anaconda Scale (Purple) *1, Iron Block (Blue) *3]

In addition, there are [Anaconda Scale Greaves (Purple)] and [Anaconda Scale Boots (Purple)], forming a four-piece set.

...That’s way too expensive! A set of armor not only requires four purple-grade materials but also needs twelve blue-grade iron blocks!

That’s a bit outrageous, considering each blue-grade iron block can create a blue-grade piece of armor or weapon, or a special function iron tool, twelve blue-grade iron blocks are simply sky-high!

Just as Xu Xin was considering giving up on this armor set for now, he noticed the small text introduction under each piece of equipment, which described the suit effects.

[Anaconda Scale Armor Four-piece Set (Purple): Greatly increases strength, grants the ability to freely swim in water, and has a deterrent effect on aquatic creatures.]

...I’m going to spend all I have to make this set!

Just the ”greatly increases strength” part is enough to be attractive. You know, it’s the first time Xu Xin has seen the adjective ”greatly” in an introduction.

What’s more, the ability to freely swim in water is like gaining a powerful skill for Xu Xin, who is basically like a landlubber. Combined with the deterrent effect on aquatic creatures, it allows him to move in water as freely as on land.

Xu Xin immediately messaged Li Wenxi: ”Are you in the treehouse? I want blue-grade iron blocks.”

Li Wenxi replied quickly: ”I am, how many do you need?”

Xu Xin felt a bit embarrassed to ask, but he finally typed: ”Twelve blocks, do you have them? I can trade blue-grade fertilizer with you.” He currently had no source of iron ore and could only rely on Li Wenxi.

After much consideration, he realized that he had more points, and among the things that could be bought with points, the value and cost-effectiveness of blue-grade fertilizer were definitely the highest.

Li Wenxi: ”??? Did you mistype? Twelve blocks?”

Xu Xin: ”No, it’s twelve blocks.”

The other side instantly sent him a video. On the screen, she was in the treehouse, which was neatly organized and had undergone major renovations.

”You’re not planning to sell blue-grade weapons and equipment, are you? We don’t have enough for ourselves! If we sell it all to you, what are we going to do later!” Li Wenxi immediately started voicing her thoughts.

”No, you misunderstood.” Xu Xin was a bit amused and helpless, ”I’m not selling them; I’m going to use them myself.”

”Huh? You’re going to use that many yourself?”

”Yes, I’ve obtained some special materials to make high-level equipment, but they require a lot of blue-grade iron blocks.”

”...Needing that many blue iron blocks, could it be... purple-grade?” Li Wenxi tentatively asked, but quickly waved her hand, ”If you don’t want to say, forget it.”

”Yes, it’s purple-grade.” Xu Xin said frankly, as it’s nothing to hide, ”Purple-grade armor, each piece requires three blue-grade iron blocks.”

Li Wenxi’s almond-shaped eyes widened, covering her mouth with her hand: ”Really? Purple-grade armor set? Oh my! Your special materials are really purple-grade!”

Li Wenxi currently had a blue-grade iron armor set, so she knew equipment above blue-grade had suit effects, but she didn’t ask further as she understood some things shouldn’t be questioned, and Xu Xin would naturally share if he wanted to.

”Alright then, since you’re using it yourself, I’ll sell it to you. Twelve blue-grade iron blocks...” Li Wenxi pursed her lips. Despite currently mining blue-grade black gold blocks, the number of blue-grade iron blocks was still very limited, losing twelve blocks all at once was unsettling.

Sigh, time to mine again to replenish the stock; the region’s number one man is hard to sustain.

”Twelve blue-grade iron blocks for your three bags of blue-grade fertilizer, that’s not excessive, right?” Li Wenxi proposed a reasonable price.

Even though blue-grade soil is a permanent strategic resource, soil alone is useless as planting requires time for plant growth. The profit cycle for a blue-grade soil block is very long, requiring at least five days without a pot, which is much too long for current survivors.

The treehouse can’t be replanted, so the value of fertile soil isn’t as high as imagined. One bag of fertilizer for four blue-grade iron blocks seemed a bit low to Xu Xin, so he naturally agreed immediately.

”Okay!” Xu Xin promptly exchanged three bags of fertilizer from the points mall, spending a hefty 1050 points, reducing his overall points to just over 500. But this wasn’t a problem, as hunting for points was still easy for him.

He didn’t even need to move; just having the Silver King and Mimi work was enough.

He planned to summon the pair in the altar and take them down to see what happens.

After exchanging materials with Li Wenxi, they exchanged information before hanging up the video call.

Xu Xin immediately ran to the weapon and armor crafting station, eager to create purple-grade armor.

Clicking on crafting Anaconda Scale Armor instantly brought up an option: [Success rate for crafting this armor is 80%, do you want to continue crafting?]

Xu Xin: ”??? ”

It’s here! Success rate!

Xu Xin still remembered, when crafting the blue-tier chair, the introduction mentioned its function of increasing crafting success rate. He realized at that time that when crafting purple-tier or higher items, there would be a possibility of failure.

Sure enough, his guess was correct.

He could perhaps swallow his pride and ask Li Wenxi for more blue iron blocks, but his titanoboa scales were limited to four pieces. He absolutely couldn’t afford to fail!

Xu Xin immediately brought over the chair, sat on it, clicked ”craft”, and instantly another option popped up: [The success rate for crafting this protective gear is 90%. Do you wish to proceed?]

Success rate increased by 10%!

Don’t underestimate this 10%; if you look at the failure rate, it directly halves the probability of failure!

However... the success rate still isn’t 100%, making Xu Xin quite anxious.

Success rates are truly unsettling, much like gambling.

Xu Xin suddenly remembered he had eaten a koi bought from Qin Yunlong, which was supposed to increase luck. He wondered whether this 90% success rate was influenced before or after the koi’s luck?

Xu Xin thought of his shovel which he hadn’t replaced with iron tools yet. Shovels also had a probability, a 50% chance to obtain tree seeds.

He immediately took out the shovel and looked at its description. At this moment, the description hadn’t changed; it was still 50%.

Xu Xin immediately went down to dig up a dozen white poplars, and finally found that he only failed to obtain seeds every third tree, indicating the probability had changed, not 50% anymore.

The luck from the koi indeed impacted probabilities, but seemingly not the numbers.

The probability of crafting the Scale Armor was like a spinning wheel, with 90% in the red area and 10% in the white area. The koi’s effect seemed to slow the pointer within the red area somewhat.

Meaning, the possibility of failure still existed, but it became very small.

”I’m going for it! A few percentage points of failure probability, I don’t believe I’ll be that unlucky!” Xu Xin gritted his teeth and decided to craft directly.

He took Keke, who was comfortably nestled on the sofa, out and held her in his arms. This little guy was his lucky star. From a mystical perspective, it might add some success rate for him.

”Yingying!” Keke, who was almost asleep nestled on the sofa, was suddenly picked up by Xu Xin, feeling a little dissatisfied and cried out twice. But fortunately, Xu Xin’s arms were also quite comfortable, so she found a cozy position again and curled up, closing her eyes.

Coming to the crafting table, sitting in his chair, Xu Xin clicked to craft the Scale Armor.

[The success rate for crafting this protective gear is 90%. Do you wish to proceed?]

He gritted his teeth and clicked ”yes”.

[Crafting successful!]

Patting Keke’s little head, Xu Xin’s worried heart was slightly eased.

A piece of Scale Armor appeared in his hand, overall showing a rocky gray-white color, looking not particularly striking, very simple, completely lacking the dazzling and mighty brilliance of the scales when on the titanoboa. If thrown into a pile of stones, it might be hard to spot without careful looking.

But this suited Xu Xin’s intention well; he didn’t want to attract attention. This world was way too dangerous, fraught with monsters everywhere.

Quickly deciding, Xu Xin immediately chose to craft the next piece.

[Crafting successful!]

[Crafting successful!]

Three consecutive successes made Xu Xin’s heart race; now it was down to the last piece.

The last piece was boots, which Xu Xin considered not too important. Though they might not hugely impact protective effects, lacking any piece would nullify the full set effect, which was quite serious. Instead of wearing mismatched pieces, Xu Xin preferred different armor, even if the defense was slightly lower, but at least it offered a set effect.

Taking a deep breath, Xu Xin clicked to craft.

[Crafting successful!]

”Beautiful!” Xu Xin burst out loudly, now the Scale Armor set was complete!

He could go underwater now!

He suddenly thought of those piranhas in the lake’s center.

They couldn’t be left alone; if they kept breeding, it would again be a hassle. He had to eliminate them completely!
