Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 102: Chapter 102 Treehouse Renovation!

Over there, transactions are conducted anonymously, so Xu Xin doesn’t know who he is.

...Could it be Ji Chaoyang? Xu Xin directly sent a message to Ji Chaoyang: ”Did you sell polluted beast meat on the trading platform?”

Ji Chaoyang replied quite quickly this time: ”No, I saw that too, but it wasn’t me. I thought it was you selling it. The effects of this meat are still unknown, I won’t sell it, and you better not either.”

Without Xu Xin’s discerning ability, Ji Chaoyang could only see a simple introduction, so he’s probably unaware that the meat has a certain chance of causing mutations in beasts that consume it.

However, if it’s not Ji Chaoyang, then who got their hands on the polluted mutated beast meat, isn’t this only found in advanced mutated beasts?

The other party also sent him a message.

”You want polluted mutated beast meat?” The other side possibly didn’t believe anyone would want something so useless.

”Yeah, just wanted to give it a try and see if I could create a mutated beast.” Xu Xin casually gave a reason and started chatting with the other side, ”By the way, brother, how did you get this meat?”

He really wanted to know how this person obtained the mutated beast meat.

Xu Xin’s words probably made the other side feel more relaxed, and they started chatting as well: ”Sounds like you have this meat too, huh? I got it from the underground city, of course, where else? Encountered a strong mutated beast, took a lot of effort to kill it, and the meat turned out to be the most useless. You really want it? Got any special resources? I have 20 kilograms of meat.”

He actually killed a mid-level mutated beast! The other side is quite strong.

”Only twenty kilograms? I’ll take as much as you have. It’s not much use to you anyway.”

”A total of twenty-five kilograms. I need to keep five kilograms for myself to use as poison in an emergency.” The other side replied.

Twenty-five kilograms of polluted meat indicates that this mutated beast is relatively small, much smaller than the previous rabbits and cats.

But even so, Xu Xin didn’t dare to underestimate this person. He’s definitely top-tier combat power, and his name is likely among the top ranks of the previous hunting leaderboards, possibly even someone familiar in the [Explorer] group.

Not considering who he is, Xu Xin decided to get the polluted meat first.

”How about a crossbow? I got a few from the underground city.” Xu Xin asked tentatively.

”A crossbow? Is it made of iron? Yes! Of course, I want it!” The other party’s eagerness made Xu Xin realize that he wasn’t a member of [Explorers], as Xu Xin and Ji Chaoyang had already made iron weapons available to everyone.

Feeling slightly reassured, Xu Xin used a green-level crossbow and dozens of crossbow arrows he picked up from trap paths to exchange for these twenty kilograms of beast meat, and they agreed that if there were more in the future, they could come directly to him.

After dinner, Xu Xin started to get busy.

First, he wanted to carry out a major renovation in the treehouse, starting with the living area on the third floor.

Currently, he had a lot of logs, and many people were also selling logs on the trading platform, mostly exchanging them at a one-to-two ratio for green-level ordinary resources. Though many had received pine and birch seeds earlier, the first batch had not yet matured. These available logs on the trading platform were obtained from the underground city.

As for why they’re selling them, it’s because only members within the [Explorers] group can utilize this new material to create weapons and facilities; it’s useless for them to hold onto it.

Xu Xin had plenty of ordinary green-level wood, so he scoured the trading platform and exchanged for over a hundred blocks of (green) logs, and thus began his major renovation.

”Hmm... Should I design this first?” Xu Xin mumbled to himself as he looked at the current chaotic layout, ”Even though there are many levels, I won’t turn it into a villa type, as it’s not just a living space.”

”The first floor will be the residence and storage room for the mutated beasts, the second floor will be a workshop for placing various workbenches, and the third will be for living, keeping some animals, and planting some flowers and grass, perfect!”

Xu Xin first moved the crafting table, weapon and armor manufacturing table, and the mutation potion crafting table he obtained from the underground city, from the third floor to downstairs, placing them together with the furnace.

This made his living space no longer appear so cluttered.

”Hmm... over a hundred square meters, so three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom.”

A hundred square meters was neither too big nor too small, more than enough for three bedrooms and a living room.

”The screen will serve as the TV for the living room! These two statues won’t change position, let’s include the fireplace.”

”The kitchen is here, and the bathroom is here.”

”Here are the two bedrooms, the other spot is a small study, perfect! Let’s do it this way!”

After a simple plan, Xu Xin immediately designed the treehouse into a yuanbao-shaped layout with open north and south ends, similar to his original home. He wanted to find a sense of returning home in the treehouse.

He opened the [Treehouse Renovation] project on the screen and looked at the wooden partition walls he could build. There were three types of wooden partition walls: a complete partition wall, one with a door opening, and one with a window opening.

”That’s quite considerate.” Xu Xin immediately began to selectively create them.

[Please select a placement position.]

Following his plan, Xu Xin recreated the cozy little home from his memories, and the originally wide and empty third floor instantly felt like a warm little home.

Beside Xu Xin, who was busy directing them, Cocoa Silver King and the three beastly leopards lay on the ground, staring with big eyes at the earthshaking changes inside the treehouse.

”Kitchen, kitchen!” Xu Xin entered the newly constructed kitchen; at the moment, the vast kitchen only had a solitary grill sitting there.

The list of kitchen utensils was quite long too.

[Small Stone Stove (Green): A simple stove for cooking, not easy to control the heat. Requires Stone (Green) *10]

[Iron Pot (Green): Cooking utensil, watch out for rust! Requires Iron Block (Green) *2, Log (Green) *1]

[Vent Window (Green): Lower-end version of a range hood, essential for you! Requires Log (Green) *10]

[Washing Sink (Green): A freely operable washing device, just pour water into the top storage section. Remember to set up a water outlet! Requires Log (Green) *20]

And a bunch of small parts for the kitchen.

This washing sink was something Xu Xin had wanted to create for a long time, but it consumed too many logs, which he had been reluctant to use until now.

However, the treehouse still lacks a mechanism to bring water up. The kitchen is fine, but there are issues on the bathroom side.

Never mind, take one step at a time.

Xu Xin first used a stone (Blue) to make a blue-grade stove.

[Stone Stove (Blue): A stove for cooking food, with controllable heat. Enhances the effectiveness of cooked food.]

Indeed, like the grill, the blue-grade stove enhances food’s effects.

The iron pot requires blue-grade logs to make a blue-level one, so he decided to start with a green-level pot. As for other facilities, they couldn’t be made blue-grade, nor was it necessary.

Xu Xin went ahead and made all kinds of facilities in the kitchen at once.

Looking at the freshly completed kitchen, Xu Xin nodded with satisfaction; this finally looked like a real kitchen.

Next up is the bathroom, which Xu Xin divided into two parts: inside is the area for washing and showering, where he installed a washing sink and a showering facility made with logs. After manually filling it with water, one can shower. Then he dragged in the large tub he used for bathing before. Perfect!

Next comes the wooden toilet, with a water storage unit above that needs manual filling. If this outlet is connected outside, wouldn’t it...

Xu Xin ultimately decided that unless in an emergency, he wouldn’t use the treehouse’s toilet.

Returning to the living room. The wooden bed has been placed in a bedroom, making the living room look empty and hollow.

”This living room is so empty, it feels off. I need to make the sofa and coffee table.”

Xu Xin browsed the furniture list and found that there was indeed a sofa, but...

[Sofa (Green): A soft sofa that makes you never want to get up! Requires Wood (Green) *5, Animal Skin (Green) *3, Cotton (Green) *20kg]

Wow, a genuine leather sofa! Moreover, a new resource, cotton, appeared.

Xu Xin immediately went to the trading platform to look around, and indeed, some people were sporadically selling cotton and cotton seeds. There was quite a bit of cotton on the platform, and the price was very low.

Come to think of it, cotton is useless to others right now; the weather is hot and stuffy, and there is no need for cotton clothes, so even if it’s very cheap, no one is buying it.

He scooped up all the cotton and seeds.

It’s hot now, but that doesn’t mean it will always be warm. Judging by the tree species here, like poplars, pines, and birches, the climate is likely temperate, if not subarctic, and a harsh winter might come in the future, so it’s better to prepare heating supplies in advance.

After storing the seeds, Xu Xin began collecting scattered bits of cotton, and finally gathered enough weight.

Because there was no blue-grade cotton, Xu Xin could only make a green-grade sofa, placing it right opposite the screen. Then, he crafted a relatively low wooden table to serve as the coffee table in front of the sofa.

Sitting down on the sofa, Xu Xin felt his mind and body relax.

”So comfortable...”

”Yip!” Keke also jumped onto the sofa, seeming to really like it, and started rolling around.

”Could I make a mattress out of cotton? Sleeping on a wooden board isn’t very comfortable.” Xu Xin nestled into the sofa, browsing through his watch’s crafting list. Previously, the list was too extensive, and he hadn’t paid much attention to it; after all, who focuses on a furniture crafting list in a survival game aside from building experts?

”Found it, cotton mattress, wow, and there’s a cotton quilt.” With not much material left, Xu Xin only made one cotton mattress and placed it on the bed.

Looking at his improved treehouse interior, Xu Xin felt his quality of life had achieved a significant leap; now, this could truly be called home!
