Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 108: Chapter 108 Lake Giant Python and Streambed Giant Crocodile

Sure enough, the giant python appeared again!

Xu Xin looked towards the center of the lake from the window. The giant python had only revealed half the length of its body, yet it was nearly as long as the giant crocodile. Of course, its diameter of two meters still seemed ”slender” compared to the crocodile’s strong body.

The two gave a feeling of evenly matched, confronting each other without moving.

Witnessing this scene, he didn’t dare to breathe heavily, nervously watching every move of the two giant beasts.

Previously, he had seen this giant python only at night, although he had the night vision from the red berries at the time, it was still clearer to see the patterns on the python’s body during the day, and more to appreciate its enormity and ferocity.

The giant crocodile seemed not to be dealing with the piranhas from the start. It just wanted to use these fish to lure the Lake Giant Python. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have lingered at the lake center and signaled to Xu Xin to stay away from the lakeshore.

What kind of grudge exists between these two giant beasts?

At this moment, Keke also climbed onto Xu Xin’s shoulder, while Silver King and Mimi clung to the window on either side of Xu Xin, watching outside. Mimi was unprecedentedly very close to him, apparently intrigued by the confrontation between these beasts much larger and stronger than them.

Xu Xin gripped the window ledge tightly, staring unblinkingly at the actions of the two giant beasts.

Suddenly, the giant python’s gaze shifted from the crocodile and slowly looked towards the direction of Xu Xin’s treehouse.

Xu Xin felt his gaze met the giant python’s once again, just like that night. Those eyes were as deep and dark as an abyss, unfathomable, causing his breath to halt for a moment.

What’s going on, why is it suddenly staring at him?

Brother Crocodile, take him down!

As if hearing Xu Xin’s exchange, the giant crocodile, which had gradually submerged in water to nearly invisible, suddenly erupted, its enormous mouth fiercely biting at the python’s body!

The giant python might have been attracted by Xu Xin’s tall treehouse, or perhaps it was looking directly at Xu Xin, either way, it truly had a momentary lapse, allowing the erupting crocodile to viciously bite its body!

Immediately after, the crocodile started to swing its head wildly, seemingly trying to tear the giant python apart directly!

The suddenly ambushed giant python thrashed its huge body strongly in the lake water, and the two giant beasts suddenly began a frenzied battle in a lake the size of a reservoir.

Like a bomb detonating in the tranquil lake, waves surged, splashes flew all over the jungle, even spilling through the treehouse window, hitting Xu Xin’s face.

The giant python didn’t have vocal cords, so it wouldn’t roar like normal beasts, but it could still make hissing or gasping sounds. At this moment, the merely gasping sound from the giant python caused the trees around the lake to gently shake, countless leaves vibrated and fell.

Its scales were incredibly tough yet smooth. After several struggles, it quickly freed itself from the crocodile’s mouth. There were deep marks due to the crocodile’s bite, some scales showed signs of falling off, and the oozing blood stained a small area of the water.

But this injury didn’t cause any impediment to its actions.

The injured and furious giant python stopped caring about Xu Xin’s side and instead emitted an angry sound at the giant crocodile, then directly launched an attack!

The giant python moved incredibly fast in the water, diving sharply towards the crocodile’s body, aiming to bite!

The crocodile, unwilling to show weakness, let out a thunderous roar, facing the python’s attack head-on, opening its giant mouth to bite at the python’s approaching head.

On the map, the bright red dot of the python seemed even more vivid, while all other wildlife within a kilometer radius around the lake remained motionless, terrified by the battle between the two giant beasts.

The python’s body was very agile in the water, also fearing to be bitten by the crocodile, it dodged the crocodile’s attack with a swift move, while the crocodile dove into the water, splashing several meters’ high, blocking Xu Xin’s view.

In the next half minute, Xu Xin could only see countless splashes rising, water droplets flying far, entering the window, scattered on his face. In the chaos, they could only broadly see the two giant beasts entwining in combat at the lake’s center.

One moment the crocodile had the python in its mouth, death rolling, the next moment the python bit onto the crocodile’s body, tightly coiling and dragging underwater, leaving only the turbulent water surface indicating the unrest below.

Splashes scattered, blood red spread.

Suddenly, the crocodile burst out of the water and swam towards the shore, still biting a piece of meat from the python’s body. However, the crocodile itself was covered in injuries, bleeding continuously from several fang holes, the surrounding lake had already turned red with blood.

”Brother Crocodile won?” The fight only lasted a minute, and half of the time was underwater, Xu Xin had no idea what happened. Although not seeing much, one person and three beasts continued to intently watch the lake.

Suddenly, the python also darted out of the water, it was visible that a large piece of scale armor attached with flesh was forcibly torn off by the crocodile, leaving a shallow pit. Blood flowed uncontrollably from the wound, but the flesh seemed to be wriggling.

”Sss—” Xu Xin gasped, the wounds on the giant python looked extremely painful, the flesh was forcibly torn off.

The giant python hissed at the giant crocodile by the shore but didn’t swim over to continue the battle. The giant crocodile, already by the shore, turned around, raised its head, and swallowed the piece of flesh into its stomach right in front of the python.

Seeing this, Xu Xin raised an eyebrow, this big guy is provoking, huh.

Sure enough, the giant python let out an angry huff towards the giant crocodile’s direction, its whole body even trembling slightly, but still didn’t move forward. The giant crocodile also remained still in the shallow water area of the lake, staring at the Lake Giant Python, as they stood off against each other again.

”So, is this a tie? Mutual defeat? Or did Brother Crocodile win slightly?”

Xu Xin’s gaze was drawn once again to the giant python’s wound. The flesh in the enormous wound wriggled slowly, healing at a visible speed! In just the few dozen seconds they stood off, the wound already looked less terrifying than before.

”Such strong self-healing ability!”

At this moment, the giant crocodile suddenly seemed to burp, its body trembled for a moment, then it twisted its head and spat several scales towards the shore. The scales were stone-like silver-gray, clearly from the giant python.

This move was purely a provocation to the giant python in the center of the lake.

The giant python finally couldn’t stand it anymore, opened its crimson mouth to threaten the giant crocodile with a huff, just when Xu Xin thought it would charge towards the crocodile regardless, it suddenly turned to gaze at the direction of the treehouse.

”Eek!” Keke was startled by the sudden turn of the giant python, hiding behind Xu Xin. Silver King and Mimi were not that scared, Mimi even clung to the window ledge, huffing back at the python, whether it heard her or not was another matter.

Before Xu Xin could react to what was happening, the giant python suddenly spun its head and dove into the water like before, its body rapidly twisting until it vanished, leaving only ripples on the water and gradually fading blood.

On the map, the bright red dot of the Lake Giant Python also disappeared, leaving only a few faint red dots near the edge of the lake’s center. Those were the remaining piranhas who seemed to be scared senseless, staying absolutely still.

”Ran away?” Xu Xin felt uncertain, until the giant crocodile by the shore roared towards him, then he reacted, ”Let’s go down!”

Approaching the giant crocodile, Xu Xin could see the wounds all over its body. Watching from afar wasn’t clear, but up close, the blood holes were terrifying, some scales were deformed due to the python’s constriction.

”Brother Crocodile, are you okay? Do you need any help?” Xu Xin quickly asked. This was a giant beast that could understand him and willing to help—his great treasure—he couldn’t let anything happen to it!

The crocodile gently shook its head, pointed to the scales on the ground with its long crocodile snout, then turned to follow the creek back to where it came from. It seemed to be heading home.

”Brother Crocodile, thank you, take care, I’ll bring you some good food next time!” Xu Xin shouted towards the crocodile’s retreating back.

”Eek!” Keke echoed Xu Xin.

”Aw—” This time, even Silver King joined in bidding farewell to the crocodile; only Mimi, who saw the crocodile for the first time, didn’t care about the departing creature, focusing solely on the three huge scales on the ground.

The crocodile didn’t look back, nor slowed its pace, responding to Xu Xin and the others’ farewell with a gentle sound.

Until the crocodile’s silhouette vanished, Xu Xin finally looked away toward the lake’s center. By this time, the lake had turned a faint red, dyed by the blood of both the python and crocodile, but the good news was that the piranhas in the lake were reduced to a few stragglers in the center.

They were the survivors of this great battle, out of the original thousands in the lake’s center, only these few remained, and they didn’t dare expand anymore, had just been near the shore, but now had swum back to the center, moving back and forth in a very small area, not daring to venture further.

Xu Xin no longer bothered with the pitiful piranhas in the center, turned to look at the four scales on the ground, each as large as a small table and very solid. His identification skill activated, revealing the scales shimmering with a purple glow!

”Whoa! Purple-grade materials!”

Xu Xin hurriedly bent down to pick up the four scales.

[Giant Python Scale (Purple): Scales from the giant python, can be used for armor crafting, creating incredibly durable armor!]

Xu Xin suddenly felt a rush of excitement.

Purple-grade materials for crafting armor!

Previously, when Xu Xin defeated mid-level mutant beasts, he only obtained blue-grade special weapon materials. Unexpectedly, the scales scraped from the giant python were purple-grade special armor crafting materials!

He obtained such high-level materials with such ease!

”Brother Crocodile, you are truly my lucky star!” Xu Xin, holding back his excitement, stored the materials in his backpack.
