From BOSS to Canon Fodder: She is Currently Out of Service!

Thinking about it, Yu Feng calmed down and organized his line of questioning in his mind, ”I think this young lady has misunderstood something? A Plane can indeed have only one Merchant, however, it’s not that I went to your Plane, but that you, having accepted a cross-dimension mission, came to the Plane I reside in. And... haha, you were half-dead when rescued; if it wasn’t for the unique environment of this planet, you’d already be dead.”

”Cross-dimension... mission?” Su Jiameng was utterly stunned. Seeing this scene, Yu Feng could completely imagine the surprised expression on the face beneath the bandages, ”How is this possible? I didn’t accept such a mission...”

At this point, she suddenly paused, vaguely sensing something amiss. Because time was short before, she didn’t even look at what kind of mission she had accepted, just clicked accept. Could it be... she coincidentally took on a cross-dimension mission?

If that’s the case, it would explain why a ”loading bar” appeared before the teleportation, something so bothersome.

If it weren’t for that, Su Jiameng wouldn’t have fallen into such a passive position... And a cross-dimension mission... this means she’s no longer on the previous Plane? Terrible! Xiao Xi, Xiao Feng and the others... won’t they think she’s already dead?

Leaving the previous Plane could indeed be considered ”death” to some extent, because in this world, the person ”Su Jiameng” can no longer be found! Thinking of this, she rubbed her forehead with some headache, feeling a wave of helplessness.

”What’s wrong? Did you remember something?” Yu Feng watched Su Jiameng’s actions with interest, only finding this Merchant to be somewhat... confused? It reminded him inexplicably of novice Merchants he previously collaborated with.

”No... I think I know why I took on a cross-dimension mission...” Su Jiameng hoarsely replied, feeling a burning pain with each word, as if countless small knives were stabbing her throat. Compared to the pain on her body though, this was nothing; she could bear it, ”I am indeed a Plane Merchant. As for the mission content... because I was in a hurry, I didn’t look...”

Although Yu Feng had vaguely guessed this answer, hearing the other say it left him with some disbelief. Missions can be accidentally accepted? This is a cross-dimension mission, with top-level difficulty, extremely long task duration, and a death rate proportional to the reward! Saying it’s doing a mission, it’s more like playing with one’s life... and the person in front of him is a prime example of recklessness.

”By the way, I still haven’t thanked you for saving me...” Su Jiameng worked to make her voice a bit softer, ”Even though I have no idea how you saw through my identity, it’s truly delightful to run into a fellow among myriad Planes.”

Yu Feng secretly snorted coldly; this was pure formal gratitude, yet he couldn’t sense a shred of sincerity.

”Don’t get too happy too soon; whether we’re allies or enemies still depends on your mission content. If you are an ally, your wounds will fully heal by tomorrow, no signs of injury visible. If you’re an enemy, now is the perfect time to act; without exerting any effort, future risks can be eliminated...” Yu Feng spoke mercilessly.

”What do you mean?” Su Jiameng felt her heart tighten, her injuries were severe; although treated, she was far from moving freely. Her Telekinesis was heavily exhausted, unable to recover quickly... truly adding insult to injury!

”Every cross-dimension mission relates to the direction of this Plane. It could be the main line, or a side line affecting the main line’s direction... During mission execution, there will always be two opposing factions; whichever faction the Plane Merchant joins, their chances of winning increase.” Yu Feng saw that she was a novice in this area, knowing less than he did.

Through such an explanation, Su Jiameng understood much more in her heart. Listening to his words, she derived two essential points. This Plane was caught in a massive conflict, and the person before her belonged to one of the factions.

”Although I would love to tell you the specifics of the mission, I’m currently blind, afraid I can’t answer.” Su Jiameng suddenly laughed, ”How about this: restore my vision first, and we’ll talk about the rest later?”

Yu Feng was speechless, it was the first time he’d encountered such an unconventional Plane Merchant. However... her request wasn’t difficult, and he could agree, ”Do you want your original eyes, or new electronic eyes? I recommend the latter, safe and practical.”

The face beneath Su Jiameng’s bandages instantly darkened considerably, rejecting his proposal flatly, ”Sorry, I still prefer my own eyes, as for electronic eyes... I’m not a robot, why would I install such things?”

To mechanize her body... she would be foolish to do so!

”Alright then, as you wish.” Yu Feng stood up and let the waiting doctor outside enter. Su Jiameng’s eyes were in much better condition than anticipated, and after repair in a nutrient recovery pod, a single injection of a special-effect drug would allow her eyes to begin functioning again.

Waiting for the drug to take effect and for Su Jiameng to readjust to the light took half an hour.

”Now, you can look at your mission, also allowing me to make a decision sooner. Whether to save you, or kill you.” Yu Feng sat calmly in place, his expression and gaze unchanged throughout.

Su Jiameng quickly glanced at Yu Feng, then nonchalantly retracted her gaze and opened the Plane Trading Platform’s Plane mission.

As she expected, she really did accept the wrong mission at the time. Seeing the ”cross-dimension” tag atop the mission in gleaming letters, she had the urge to dig a hole and bury herself! She’s been accustomed to tricking others in the past; now she tricked herself — a comeuppance indeed.

After carefully inspecting the mission details, Su Jiameng fell silent for a long while... (To be continued.
