My Youth Began With Him

To her disappointment…

“It’s okay, Dr. Huo, we brought plastic bags with us,” Wei Liao responded with determination.

“Haha, good job, Honey!” Jiang Xiaowei could barely catch her breath; she loved how they were all bullying a genius – successfully!

“Then, I…”

“One, two, three, sing!” Su Yu was done with Huo Mian’s multiple attempts to save herself, so he decided to help her start.

Huo Mian looked down and tried out the microphone. “Test, test…”

It was working… she couldn’t even use the microphone as an excuse… fine, she’ll sing then, what was the big deal?

The fact was that a lot of people in their little group could sing very well. The first and foremost was Ni Yang, who debuted as the lead singer of a boy group. Even Su Yu and Qin Chu were good at singing; they had both taken professional singing classes and could sing a million times better than Huo Mian. So, she didn’t want to embarrass herself in front of all these people…

So, she decided to sing something simple, praying to god that she wouldn’t go too offkey.

After three seconds of silence, Huo Mian looked down and sang into the gold microphone…

“Rain or sunshine, my heart is content. I once cried because of a broken toy, but the clouds after a storm are much more beautiful, as if the rainbow is smiling. I want to be a brave little sun that welcomes the future and flaps my wings. I want to bring hope to everyone around me. I want to bring warmth to the rooms and make everyone happy.”

“I can’t believe Mommy picked this song.” Little Bean was speechless.

“I’m just surprised that she’s not offkey,” Pudding commented wholeheartedly.

Su Yu had never heard this song before. “What’s the name of this song? She’s not bad.”

Zhu Lingling answered, “It’s a children’s song, called Little Sun. Basically the same as Two Blind Mice.”

Tang Chuan: “What’s she going to sing next time? Little Moon?”

Jiang Xiaowei: “How about the Olympic Rings?”

An: “It’s a miracle that President Huo even agreed to sing, let’s not pick at her song choice, alright?”

Ni Yang was speechless in laughter. He leaned against Chen Jie’s shoulder, looking at her genius sister.

Huo Mian knew she wasn’t good at singing, so she picked a super easy song with less than 200 words… The melody was as simple as The Wheels on the Bus.

So, did she pass their test?

“Guys, what are you doing? Shouldn’t you be clapping right now?” Huo Mian grasped the microphone and asked awkwardly.

“Yes, great job! Honey, you’re the best!” Mr. Qin began clapping himself, making the situation even more awkward.

“What are you guys playing at? If you keep bullying me, I’m going to…”

“Don’t jump, we’re on the ocean,” Tang Chuan teased Huo Mian.

“You’re thinking too much, my friend. What I meant is, if you keep bullying me, I’m going to ask the bodyguards to push you all off the boat.”

“Yes, you were amazing! Come one, let’s all clap!” Zhu Lingling immediately clapped cooperatively, and everyone followed along.

Then, Huo Mian threw away the microphone, took out her phone, and for some reason decided to upload an update to her WeChat friend circle.
