My Youth Began With Him

“Fine. You like crying, right?”

“Mian…”

Qin Chu took Huo Mian’s hand and tried to speak for their daughters.

“Honey, stay out of it.”

Huo Mian warned Mr. Qin solemnly.

The two kids realized the seriousness of the situation.

“Mommy…” Little Bean opened her mouth to beg for mercy.

“Shut up and listen to me… You kids love crying and try to gain sympathy with tears, right? Very good… Keep crying, the one who stops first loses the contest and will go to English classes for all the Saturdays and Sundays in the next month.”

Little Bean: “…”

Pudding: “…”

“Mommy, you’re joking, right?” Little Bean forgot about crying and stared at Huo Mian in horror.

“I never joke with my own kids… Now let’s begin… Keep crying and I’ll see who’s going to win.”

Instantly, Pudding and Little Bean stopped crying.

This method was quite effective, though a little bit harsh…

“You stopped crying at the same time, right? Then you both lost… for the next month, you will both go to the English class.”

“Mommy, we were wrong…”

“It’s useless to confess… You must pay for it.”

“But we’re still children… We’re very young…” Little Bean tried to argue.

“You’re very young but still used this method to make things difficult for adults. What will you be capable of when you grow up?” Huo Mian stared them down.

Little Bean: “…”

Pudding: “…”

“Mommy, please be reasonable. Today’s your birthday, can’t you give a general amnesty?”

Having watched lots of Qing Dynasty dramas, Little Bean had picked up such a phrase; her words almost make Huo Mian laugh out loud.

“I never go back on my words.” Huo Mian tried to keep her face straight.

“Daddy… Say something…” Little Bean was desperate. A month without weekends meant that she wouldn’t be able to go out and have fun with Boyuan for one whole month. She refused to accept this fate.

“Honey, let it go… Our daughters were not wrong.”

“You mean I was wrong?” Huo Mian cocked her head and looked at Qin Chu.

“No, no, no… I was wrong. As their daddy, I didn’t… teach them well.”

Qin Chu dared not to displease Huo Mian who was today’s birthday girl.

Pudding had been silent, but now she took out a small silk box and said, “Mommy, happy birthday…”

“Um…”

Huo Mian was at a loss for words when the kid took out a birthday present without a warning.

The box was wrapped in beautiful paper…

“Qin Zhaozhao, shame on you… You did it behind my back…” Little Bean was furious when she saw her elder sister take out a present.

How come she didn’t know anything about it?

“Pudding, what’s this?” Qin Chu was curious.

He wondered what present his little daughter had prepared.

“I told you I’m not accepting gifts this year.” Huo Mian looked reluctant.

After all, if she took the present, she’d not have the heart to lecture the unruly girls.

“Mommy, this isn’t an expensive present… I made it. Open and have a look.”

“Indeed? You made it?”

Hearing Pudding had made the present herself, Huo Mian was curious and took the small box from Pudding’s hand carefully.

Little Bean pouted, looking as if she wanted to swallow her sister alive.

She glared at Pudding as if she was looking at a traitor…
